You can run a 24/7 spa music channel from a laptop by sending a continuous encoder livestream to YouTube: create a stream in YouTube Studio, enter its stream URL and key in an encoder, test the signal, then start the broadcast. The laptop, encoder, power and internet connection must remain operational for the stream to continue. Before going live, clear every track for public livestreaming and any replay you plan to keep.
Before you set up the stream
Check YouTube live-stream eligibility
YouTube’s general eligibility guidance requires a verified channel with no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. Check the channel’s eligibility in YouTube Studio before preparing a long-running broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
Clear the music for the broadcast
Make an inventory of each recording and composition, and confirm that your permission covers continuous public livestreaming, the channel’s territories and any replay you intend to retain. Buying a track, having a subscription to a music service or seeing “royalty-free” on a listing does not by itself establish those rights. The scope depends on the actual license.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. A match can replace the image, interrupt the stream or terminate it. Even if you have a license, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist: Copyright issues with live streams. Get the allowlisting process confirmed before relying on a track in a continuous feed.

Build the program and connect the laptop
1. Make a simple audio-and-visual program
Use streaming software (an encoder) to combine your spa music with a still image or slow-moving visual, then configure it to play only media you have the rights to use. Test the sequence before making it public, including transitions, volume levels and what happens when the playlist reaches its end. The exact controls depend on your encoder, so consult its current documentation rather than assuming every program has the same loop setting.
2. Create a YouTube stream and enter its credentials
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream using the encoder workflow.
- Copy the stream URL (server URL) and stream key shown for that stream into the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on screen, share it publicly or reuse a key you believe has been exposed.
- Start the encoder so it sends the audio and video feed. Wait for the incoming preview in Live Control Room, check stream health and confirm the picture and sound are correct.
- Start the broadcast from the control room when the preview is ready, following the controls shown for the stream you created. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance is at Set up your encoder for live streaming.
Choose encoder settings and test the connection
Pick a resolution, frame rate and bitrate your laptop can encode and your internet connection can upload continuously. YouTube’s current general encoder guidance lists RTMP or RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), AAC or MP3 audio, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. It supports H.264, H.265 and AV1 video, with frame rates up to 60 fps; the encoder and stream configuration must support the choices you make. See YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions.

Use a bitrate the upload line can sustain
For H.264 at 1080p30, YouTube recommends a video bitrate range of 5–14 Mbps. That is a recommendation, not a guarantee that a particular laptop or connection can sustain it. Audio also uses bandwidth. Test at your intended settings and monitor stream health; if the feed drops frames or becomes unstable, reduce the video bitrate, resolution or frame rate and test again.

Keep the stream running—and plan for interruptions
A laptop-based broadcast depends on the laptop staying powered, cool and responsive, the encoder continuing to send data, and the internet connection remaining available. YouTube recommends a reliable connection, spare upload capacity and monitoring; it warns that connection disruptions can affect a stream. It does not certify a laptop for 24/7 operation.
- Use stable power and make sure the laptop has adequate ventilation for continuous use.
- Test the full setup for an extended period before announcing the channel; check for overheating, encoder errors, audio gaps and network instability.
- Decide who will notice a failure and how they will restart the encoder or broadcast. Do not assume a 24/7 feed will recover without intervention.
- Monitor stream health while live, especially after changing the encoder, network or playlist.
There is no neutral uptime figure established here for laptop versus cloud hosting. If choosing a managed or server-based alternative, check who handles restarts, reconnects, alerts, scheduled breaks, media privacy and stream-key security, as well as the total operating cost. Do not treat a vendor’s description as an independent uptime comparison.

Decide separately whether you need a replay
A continuous live channel does not guarantee a complete YouTube archive. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. For a 24/7 feed, arrange a local recording or publish shorter sessions if replay access matters. A recording of the music still requires the appropriate rights. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.

Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a laptop and home connection responsible for continuous playout, StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for looping uploaded videos. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once and go live. Your computer does not have to stay on at home; it streams uploaded video, not a camera feed.
