You can broadcast a prerecorded Sanskrit shloka playlist on YouTube Live using an encoder, but YouTube’s published guidance does not establish that one live broadcast can run indefinitely. Plan the playlist, confirm rights for every recording and visual, then create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio and monitor it. What you need before starting
- An eligible, verified YouTube channel. YouTube says the channel must have had no livestream restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and streamers must be at least 16. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup instructions.
- A prepared playlist of shloka audio and any accompanying visuals, plus an encoder. YouTube supports software and hardware encoders; dedicated hardware is optional.
- Permission for each asset’s intended use. A Sanskrit text may be old, but a particular recording, arrangement, performance or image may have separate rights.
- A plan for operating and recovering the stream, including what you will do if playback, power, internet or YouTube interrupts it.
Confirm rights to the playlist first
YouTube places responsibility for rights on the person providing the live content. Its Livestream terms and conditions say: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” This is a contractual platform statement, not jurisdiction-specific legal advice.
Keep a rights record for every recording, composition or arrangement where relevant, image and other third-party material. Confirm that permissions cover live use, the territories you intend to reach, and any archive or monetization plans; what permission is required depends on the asset, use and applicable law.
- YouTube’s copyright guidance for music identifies public-domain material and music used with permission as safer choices. Calling a track “free” or adding that label to a description does not prevent a Content ID claim.
- YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace the stream image, interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Even licensed content can be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID. See YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
- Creator Music permissions are track-specific. The cited usage-details guidance excludes live streams from the covered revenue-sharing requirements (“No live streams or Shorts”). Do not assume that permission for an ordinary uploaded video clears a live broadcast; check the exact track’s current terms and live-use permission.
Create and test the YouTube Live stream
- Enable live streaming. Verify channel eligibility in YouTube Studio and request activation if needed. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time enablement; do not leave the setup until broadcast time.
- Create or schedule an encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, create a live stream using the encoder option. Set its audience and visibility as appropriate. YouTube’s encoder guide explains the stream setup: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Copy the connection details into your encoder. Use the server/stream URL and stream key shown in Studio. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or send it to viewers, and reset it if compromised.
- Load the prepared playlist. Configure the encoder or playback system to play the recordings in the intended order and loop them if that is how you want the broadcast to behave. Check that the system supports your chosen media formats and can continue operating unattended for the planned period.
- Start early and inspect the preview. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours ahead and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event. These are production recommendations, not guarantees against failure. Confirm that the preview shows the expected image, audio is audible and continuous, and the stream health indicator is acceptable. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
- Choose how viewers can watch. YouTube offers public, private and unlisted visibility settings. DVR can let viewers pause and rewind a live stream; details are in YouTube’s stream settings guidance.
- Monitor the broadcast. Keep an operator responsible for checking stream health, playback and interruptions, and for restarting or correcting the stream when needed. Test privately or unlisted first if appropriate, including the watch page and whether an archive is being created.
Can one YouTube stream stay live continuously for 24/7?
Do not treat an encoder setup as proof that a single broadcast can run forever. YouTube’s encoder documentation says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but the guidance cited here does not establish a permitted or reliable method for one stream to exceed that threshold. Before advertising a continuous 24/7 service, check YouTube’s current rules and the chosen operator’s documented continuity and recovery plan. The archive behavior and stream duration are separate considerations; confirm both rather than assuming that looping a playlist settles them.
