To stream a misty forest ambience video on YouTube Live around the clock, create or select a YouTube stream in Live Control Room, copy its server URL and stream key into an encoder, and send the video and audio feed. The channel must be eligible for live streaming, and you need the rights to both the visuals and sound. For continuous operation, plan for equipment or connection failures—and do not assume a single broadcast longer than 12 hours will be fully archived.
Before you start: check channel eligibility
- Your channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions within the prior 90 days.
- The person streaming must be at least 16 years old.
- If this is your first time enabling live streaming, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours. Enable it ahead of your planned launch.

Prepare the video and clear its rights
Use a misty forest video and ambience recording you made, or obtain permission that covers the intended live broadcast and any archive. Keep licenses and permission records accessible. A license for a sound recording or video does not necessarily mean YouTube’s systems will recognize that permission automatically.

Set up the stream with an encoder
YouTube supports software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. Its encoder guide describes an encoder as a tool that converts video into a digital format for streaming on YouTube. The guide does not prescribe a particular encoder or a universal configuration for an ambience scene; check that your chosen encoder supports your source and can run for the duration you need.
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a stream or select one you have already set up. Follow the steps shown for that stream.
- Copy the connection details. Copy YouTube’s server URL and stream key from the stream setup and enter them in the encoder’s corresponding fields. A stream key functions like a password: do not show it on screen, post it publicly, or share it with anyone who should not control the stream. YouTube notes that selecting a previously used stream can reload its earlier settings and key.
- Add your video and audio. Select the misty forest video and its matching ambience audio as the encoder’s source. Confirm that both play correctly and that the source can loop if you intend to repeat it.
- Send the feed and check the preview. Start streaming from the encoder. In Live Control Room, check the preview and stream health where available; then complete the go-live action for the selected stream.
- Test before promoting the live page. Check that the video loops as expected, the audio is audible and balanced, and the stream remains connected. The YouTube setup guidance describes the connection workflow, but does not establish a tested configuration for misty forest ambience content.
Plan for true 24/7 operation
A continuous stream depends on more than the initial go-live action. A computer, encoder, power supply, network connection, and video source can each fail. Decide how you will notice an interruption and restore the feed, and test your recovery procedure before relying on the stream to run unattended. YouTube’s encoder instructions do not guarantee uninterrupted service or specify an automatic recovery method for a creator’s equipment.

One long broadcast or planned shorter sessions?
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited encoder guidance does not promise a complete archive for one broadcast that runs longer than 12 hours, nor does it prescribe an ideal restart schedule. If keeping an archive matters, plan sessions around the stated under-12-hour condition rather than assuming a single 24-hour broadcast will be saved in full.

Software encoder or hardware encoder?
A software encoder uses a general-purpose computer; a standalone hardware encoder is a dedicated physical device. YouTube supports both categories, but does not declare one universally better. Consider your existing equipment, compatibility with your video source, and how you will keep the setup powered, connected, and monitored. A hardware encoder is optional, not a YouTube requirement.

Understand copyright interruptions and monetization
Content ID can interrupt a live stream
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, and persistent use can lead to interruption or termination. If you have licensed third-party material, ask the rights holder whether they can add your channel to their Content ID allowlist. An archive may also receive a Content ID claim after the broadcast ends. See Copyright issues with live streams.
Rights clearance and monetization are separate questions
Having permission to use a video or recording addresses rights; it does not by itself establish that the channel or stream qualifies for monetization. YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams and expect content to be original and authentic. Its policy, updated July 15, 2025, identifies repetitive or mass-produced material—including content that is highly repetitive, templated, or minimally varied—as potentially ineligible under its inauthentic-content rules. That does not mean every ambience loop is automatically barred or approved: YouTube applies the policy to the channel and its content. Read YouTube channel monetization policies.

Troubleshoot common problems
