You can loop recorded worship on YouTube with OBS Studio by adding a video as a looping Media Source or building a playlist with OBS’s VLC Video source. That repeats the program, but it does not guarantee an unattended 24/7 broadcast: the computer, power, internet connection, OBS, and YouTube can all interrupt it. Before streaming, clear the rights for the music and recordings, test the complete setup, and plan how someone will monitor and restart it.
Choose a single video or a playlist
Use one file when the program is meant to repeat as a continuous unit and its ending joins cleanly to its beginning. Use a playlist when you want several recordings to play in a defined order or to vary the program. OBS supports common local video formats, including MP4, MOV, MKV, and WebM. Check the loop point, gaps, black frames, and audio transitions before broadcasting; a technically successful loop can still sound or look abrupt.
- Single file: Confirm the final frames and audio flow into the opening without an unwanted pause or jump.
- Playlist: Decide whether items should play sequentially or be shuffled, and check every transition. Include only recordings cleared for the intended stream and any archive.
Clear music and recording rights before going live
Do not assume that permission to perform a song during an in-person service also permits broadcasting, webcasting, recording, or archiving it. JLicense’s FAQ says its religious-service exception does not extend to those uses when copyrighted works are involved; the relevant uses require a license or written permission from each rights holder. The Rabbinical Assembly’s congregation streaming guide identifies JLicense as a resource offering annual and limited licenses for covered songs. Check the current terms for the particular work and use rather than treating either source as a blanket clearance.

Permission to perform a work does not automatically clear a commercial recording of that work. The United Methodist Church’s 2026-updated guidance makes the same live-performance versus pre-recorded-track distinction as a general cross-check, but it is not Jewish-specific licensing advice.

- Compact but Powerful Design: ZowieBox is smaller than a phone, featuring a tally light and LCD screen for streaming status. Capture console gameplay in up to 4K with zero-lag HDMI passthrough, while the built-in video encoder converts video for IP streaming. The IP stream can also be decoded back to a 4K HDMI signal.
- Standalone Game Streaming: Just plug and play—ZowieBox enables PC-free live gaming without affecting gameplay. As an RTMP hardware encoder and HDMI streamer, it delivers stable streaming directly from your source, making it ideal for gaming, live events, and professional broadcasting.
- NDI|HX3 Converter Technology: ZowieBox converts HDMI signals to NDI|HX3/HX2/HX, functioning as an NDI video encoder, or NDI Video Decoder for flexible IP workflows. Certified NDI technology enables low-latency gameplay streaming through OBS/vMix. Note: Encoder and decoder modes cannot run simultaneously; full NDI signals are not supported.
- UVC to HDMI Conversion: Supporting up to 4K@30fps and 1080p@60fps decoding, ZowieBox enables flexible conversion for webcam and video workflows. As a video decoder and HDMI to IP converter, it expands connectivity options for professional video devices. Note: USB capture card functionality is not currently supported.
- All-around Configuration Options: Control ZowieBox through its web UI on a PC, phone, or tablet. Manage connected PTZ cameras, tally light, video/audio, OSD, work mode, streams, network, and system settings. Support for VISCA over IP encoder workflows enables flexible PTZ control, while the dashboard provides video preview and system status.
YouTube separately requires a broadcaster to have the necessary rights for live content on Google services, including music rights. It scans live streams for third-party content and may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. A stream can still be affected even if the congregation believes it is licensed: YouTube says a rights holder may need to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Where relevant, ask the rights holder about allowlisting and keep written evidence showing what the permission covers. Platform enforcement and the congregation’s assessment of its license are separate matters.
Set up OBS to loop the recording
- Prepare the source. Put the cleared video file or files somewhere the streaming computer can access reliably. Play them locally first and verify the intended picture and program audio.
- Add a single file. In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene and select the video file. In that source’s properties, enable Loop so playback starts again after it ends.
- Or add a playlist. Add OBS’s VLC Video source, choose the files, set their intended order, and enable Loop Playlist. Confirm whether the playlist behaves as intended at the end and start of each cycle.
- Configure the destination. In OBS’s stream settings, select the intended streaming service and enter the stream key supplied by that service. Treat the key as a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it through the service’s account controls.
- Check program audio and video. Watch OBS’s preview and audio meters while the source plays. Make sure the meters respond to the intended worship audio, not an unintended desktop or microphone source, and check that the picture is framed correctly.
- Run a short test. Use the intended computer, network, scene, and stream destination. Confirm that the public player receives the right image and sound before depending on the setup for a long broadcast.
OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard can take the computer’s hardware and network conditions into account, but its result is a starting point, not a guarantee of round-the-clock operation. Review the settings and test the actual stream before relying on it.

Make the connection and bitrate practical
Use a wired Ethernet connection where practical. OBS warns that Wi-Fi may be unstable for streaming and recommends a wired connection. Test upload stability at the venue under realistic conditions, including when other people or devices may use the connection. A faulty cable, router, network card, or other network device can also cause problems; Ethernet reduces one source of variability but cannot guarantee continuity.
The Rabbinical Assembly’s 2020 streaming guide gives 4–6 Mbps as a minimum upload-speed baseline to avoid overly pixelated video or choppy audio. It is not a guarantee or a universal bitrate setting: the appropriate stream bitrate depends on the chosen resolution, platform limits, stable upload capacity, and competing network use. OBS recommends lowering bitrate to fit both stable upload speed and platform limits. If the connection cannot sustain the setting, reduce bitrate or video demands and test again rather than assuming the nominal speed of the internet plan is available continuously.

- Check the destination’s current stream requirements and limits before choosing settings.
- Test from the actual venue, not only from a different network or a speed-test result taken at another time.
- If the stream drops or becomes choppy, first try a wired connection, reduce bitrate, and check the cable, router, and other network equipment.
Plan for interruptions; looping is not 24/7 reliability
OBS’s loop options control what happens when media playback ends. They do not keep a computer powered, repair a broken connection, restart a crashed application, or guarantee that a platform remains live. For a congregation that needs a continuous channel, assign someone to check the public player and OBS status, and document who can intervene if the stream stops. Consider power and network interruptions, a restart procedure, and how the operator can regain access to the stream key and account.
Decide separately whether the stream should be public or embedded in a congregation-controlled destination. Consider discovery and playback needs, archiving, audience privacy, moderation, rights and territory scope, and the platform’s Content ID process. A license or platform arrangement for one destination should not be assumed to cover another.

Or let it run in the cloud
If keeping a streaming computer and connection running at home or at the synagogue is the part you want to avoid, StreamNeo is a cloud service for looping uploaded videos to YouTube. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay powered on at the venue; the video streams as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot regardless of quality, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required; the monthly option is $9.99 per month. It is for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube only.
