You can stream recorded gaming highlights to YouTube as an encoder-based live broadcast: prepare a continuous playlist or feed, connect it to a YouTube Live stream with the stream URL and key, preview it in Live Control Room, then monitor the broadcast. To keep it running around the clock, use a local computer that stays on or a cloud service that loops uploaded videos. YouTube documents encoder streaming for gameplay, but does not guarantee that every prerecorded 24/7 stream will be allowed or monetized; your rights and the originality of the content matter.
Before you build a 24/7 stream
Check live-stream eligibility
Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. The broadcast also has to comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Review YouTube’s live-stream eligibility and policy guidance before preparing a long-running feed.
Confirm you have rights to the footage and audio
Make sure you have the necessary rights for every gameplay recording, music track, and third-party clip in the broadcast. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content; a match can lead to a placeholder on the stream, interruption, or termination. Even a license may not prevent interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID. See YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.

YouTube cautions that extended footage that simply shows a user playing may not be accepted for monetization; commentary that is tightly related to the gameplay may qualify in some cases. Check each game’s license rather than assuming that owning or recording a game gives you commercial rights. See YouTube’s guidance on video game and software content.

Plan for original programming, not just an endless loop
Copyright permission and monetization eligibility are separate issues. YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams and address both repetitive or mass-produced material and reused content. A channel can face a reused-content review even when it has permission to use the clips. Give the stream meaningful editorial value through choices such as commentary, analysis, context, storytelling, or a deliberate highlight sequence. This can reduce policy risk but cannot guarantee monetization approval. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Choose how to keep the feed running
The main difference is what must stay available while the stream runs. A local encoder offers control over scenes and overlays but depends on your computer and connection. A hosted service can run the feed in the cloud, but its plan limits, playlist controls, storage sources, and recovery behavior vary. StreamNeo is listed first here because it keeps uploaded videos looping from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day.

| Approach | Useful when | Trade-offs and checks |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Use it when you want an uploaded-video feed to run from the cloud without leaving a computer on. It streams to YouTube. | One slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, and automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. Uploaded video is streamed as made, up to 4K 60fps, without re-encoding or quality tiers. Check whether the included storage fits your planned playlist. |
| Local encoder on an existing computer | Use it when you want control over scenes, overlays, and the feed, and can keep the computer and internet connection running. | You need to monitor the machine and connection, test how your chosen tool handles playlist transitions, and plan local recording and recovery. YouTube says expensive equipment is not necessary for encoder streaming. |
| Another hosted playlist service | Use it if its particular playlist controls, file sources, schedule, or other plan terms suit your workflow. | Verify current plan requirements, pricing, maximum run duration, input locations, monitoring, and restart behavior with the provider. For example, OneStream Live’s help article dated September 3, 2026 says its 24-hour workflow is YouTube-only, requires Enterprise, accepts videos from a device, its own storage, or cloud storage, and has a maximum duration of 30 days. These are provider statements, not an independent reliability assessment: OneStream Live’s 24/7 streaming guide. |
Set up the prerecorded gaming feed
- Prepare your clips. Choose the recordings you have rights to use. Order them into a playlist or schedule them through a local encoder or hosted service that can feed prerecorded video to a live broadcast. YouTube documents encoder streaming for gameplay in its live-streaming tips; the exact playlist and looping controls depend on the tool you use.
- Make the sequence work as programming. Decide how the clips fit together, where commentary or context belongs, and how the loop will feel when a viewer joins midway through. Avoid relying on the same bare sequence as the channel’s only contribution; YouTube evaluates repetitive and reused content under its monetization policies.
- Check files and transitions in the chosen tool. Confirm that the source files play and that the playlist advances or loops as intended. If using a hosted provider, verify which sources it accepts and whether its plan allows the duration you need. For example, OneStream Live describes device, provider, and cloud-storage inputs for its own 24/7 workflow; that does not establish the same options for other services.
- Choose encoder settings from YouTube’s current guidance. YouTube’s setup instructions cover connecting an encoder, and its live-streaming tips cover quality and testing. Use the current requirements for your stream in those official guides and the settings provided by your encoder. The cited YouTube pages do not establish one bitrate, resolution, or keyframe interval for every tool and feed, so do not copy a fixed value without checking those instructions.
Create the YouTube live broadcast and connect the feed
- Open Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder stream. Set the title, description, category, visibility, and other metadata for the broadcast. YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes creating the stream and connecting an encoder.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder or service. The URL and key are the connection details the feed needs to reach YouTube. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the broadcast. YouTube explains these settings in Manage live stream settings.
- Start the feed and inspect the preview. Start the encoder or hosted playlist, then check Live Control Room for the incoming video. Confirm that the picture, audio, and clip transitions look right before starting the public broadcast. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream quality in its live-streaming tips.
- Start the broadcast and keep monitoring it. Check the live watch page as well as the control room, and watch for interruptions or quality problems. An unattended loop is not the same as a monitored stream: decide who will respond if the feed stops or the content is flagged.
Keep an archive separate from the live broadcast
Do not rely on YouTube to preserve a single archive of an uninterrupted 24/7 stream. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams that exceed 12 hours may not be captured at all. Its archive guidance recommends keeping a local backup. Where practical, record independently and verify that the recording file is growing and intact while the stream runs. A local archive is an optional safeguard, not a requirement for starting the broadcast.
Troubleshoot common failures
- The channel cannot start a live stream: Check channel verification and whether a live-stream restriction applies within the prior 90 days. Review YouTube’s eligibility guidance.
- Live Control Room shows no incoming preview: Check that the encoder or service is running and that it has the correct stream URL and key. Re-enter the current connection details if needed, then wait for the preview before starting the broadcast. Follow the steps in YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
- The stream is interrupted or shows a placeholder: Check for third-party content matches, including music and clips, and confirm that you have the necessary rights. A license may not prevent a live interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel in Content ID. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
- The broadcast stops after a feed or connection failure: Check the local encoder or hosted service and its restart behavior, then restore the feed and verify the preview before resuming. If the stream key may have been exposed, reset it in YouTube’s stream settings and update the encoder or service. YouTube describes stream-key management in Manage live stream settings.
- The stream runs but the channel may not qualify for monetization: Review publisher permissions, the amount of original commentary or editorial treatment, and YouTube’s reused and repetitive-content policies. Having copyright permission alone does not settle monetization eligibility; see YouTube’s gaming-content guidance and its monetization policies.
- YouTube does not retain the long broadcast as one archive: That can happen when a stream exceeds 12 hours. Keep and check an independent recording if the full program matters to you; see YouTube’s archive guidance.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your recorded videos, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops the uploads from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams at the quality uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, with one free day per account. The Monthly price is $9.99 per month. For India, UPI and cards are accepted; card checkout is available worldwide.
