To stream a children’s audiobook with illustrations on YouTube around the clock, prepare a video that combines the narration and permitted images, send it through an encoder to YouTube Live, and operate it as a series of shorter broadcasts if you need reliable archives. Before going live, clear the rights to the exact text, recording, illustrations and other audio, and set the audience accurately. YouTube says broadcasts longer than 12 hours may not be captured as archives, so a single uninterrupted stream is not a dependable archive plan.
1. Clear rights to every part of the program
Do this before you assemble the loop or schedule a broadcast. An audiobook stream can involve several separate works and rights holders:
- The story text: Confirm that you have permission to stream it, or that the specific text is free to use in the territories where you plan to broadcast.
- The audiobook recording: The narrator’s performance and the particular recording can have their own rights. A public-domain story does not automatically make a modern recording free to stream.
- The illustrations: Clear each image for live streaming and for any archive YouTube creates.
- Music and sound effects: Check these too, including material included in an otherwise licensed recording.
Check that permissions cover the intended territories, the live broadcast, archived copies and any planned monetization. YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions say that the provider must hold the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of the live content on Google services, including applicable music rights. Your actual permitted use depends on the work and the license you have.

If a rights holder uses Content ID, ask about allowlisting your channel before the broadcast. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. A match can replace the stream with a placeholder, trigger a warning, or interrupt or end the broadcast—even when you have a license if the channel has not been allowlisted. Keep permission records and monitor Live Control Room for warnings.

2. Prepare the illustrated audiobook video
Build a program you are allowed to show
Arrange the illustrations in a timed sequence and pair them with the narration. You can create a finished video file or assemble the program in your chosen encoder. Check the whole sequence, including transitions and any background material, against the permissions you obtained.
The cited YouTube guidance does not prescribe a particular resolution, frame rate, bitrate, encoder or editing application for this format. Choose settings your production setup and internet connection can sustain, and use the encoder’s own guidance rather than assuming a particular setting is required. Test the complete audio-and-image program before scheduling a public broadcast.

Keep a local copy
Retain a local recording if you need a dependable copy of the program. YouTube recommends checking audio and video quality and verifying archives; its archive guidance warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
3. Enable YouTube Live and create the broadcast
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube’s current general live-stream help says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. It also says streamers must be at least 16. Confirm your channel’s current status and requirements in YouTube Studio before launch.
- Open Live Control Room. Create or schedule a live stream, select its visibility, and set its audience. You can use an encoder workflow; a dedicated hardware encoder is not universally required. YouTube supports software encoding and describes professional-grade hardware encoders as a recommendation for higher-production events.
- Copy the connection details. In the stream setup, obtain YouTube’s Live server URL and stream key, then enter them in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Check the preview before going live. Start sending from the encoder, inspect the preview in Live Control Room, and check that the narration is audible and the correct illustrations appear. Then start the broadcast in Live Control Room. Monitor audio and video after launch.
4. Set the audience honestly for children’s content
A children’s audiobook accompanied by illustrations is a strong sign that a program may be made for kids, but make the audience determination for the actual content and set it accurately in Live Control Room. YouTube’s audience guidance says creators must designate content appropriately; do not rely on automated classification in place of your decision.

For a made-for-kids stream, expect features such as live chat, comments, notifications, personalized advertising, Super Chat and Super Stickers to be unavailable or restricted. YouTube says contextual ads may still be shown. Do not build the broadcast plan or expected revenue around personalized ads or chat features. Child-privacy obligations can also vary by territory, so check the rules that apply where you operate.
5. Run a 24/7 schedule without relying on one long archive
“24/7” describes the intended schedule, not a guarantee that one broadcast will remain connected or be archived. YouTube warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. If keeping YouTube archives matters, plan repeated broadcasts shorter than 12 hours, with a controlled handoff, and check each archive afterward.

A restart can create a gap; YouTube’s guidance does not guarantee gapless handoffs. Test the full handoff process before describing the service as uninterrupted. Plan who or what will notice a dropped connection, start the next segment and verify that it is live. Keep a local recording as a backup for content you need to retain.
