To stream birds-and-rain ambience on YouTube around the clock, send a rights-cleared prerecorded video to YouTube Live through an encoder. Enable live streaming first, then create a stream in YouTube Studio, connect the encoder with the stream URL and key, and preview before broadcasting. First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so set up and test ahead of your planned start.
Choose how to keep the stream running
There are two practical approaches: run an encoder on a computer you keep powered and connected, or use a cloud service designed to loop prerecorded video. YouTube’s encoder guidance lists Gyre as one cloud-based option for continuous prerecorded streams; that listing is not a guarantee of uninterrupted service. The sources do not establish current pricing or uptime for these options.
| Option | What stays running | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | StreamNeo runs the uploaded video in the cloud after you add your YouTube stream key and go live. | One flat price per slot for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps; automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. See StreamNeo. |
| Local encoder | Your computer, encoder, power and internet connection must remain available for the broadcast. | You manage the encoder and local monitoring. YouTube recommends upload bandwidth headroom and testing before going live. |
| Other cloud workflow | A cloud streaming service handles continuous playback from uploaded video. | YouTube lists Gyre as an example, but check its current terms, regional availability, price and recovery behavior directly; these details are not established here. |
Prepare a rights-cleared ambience video
Clear both picture and sound
Use footage and audio you created or have permission to use for the intended broadcast. Rights to a video image do not automatically cover its sound, or vice versa. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Even when you have a license, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Make the loop work as a video
Prepare a video file that can repeat without an abrupt visual or audio jump. Listen for sudden changes in rain volume, bird calls, silence, clipping or an edit seam. These are production checks, not special YouTube requirements; a seamless loop improves the experience for viewers who leave the stream playing.

Set up YouTube Live and connect an encoder
- Enable live streaming. In YouTube Studio, start the live-streaming enablement process for your channel and complete any requested verification. YouTube says first-time enablement can take up to 24 hours. Check Get started with live streaming for current channel access requirements.
- Create or schedule the stream. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create a stream or schedule one. Set its title, description, visibility and audience details accurately for the content.
- Choose encoder mode. Use the encoder workflow in the Live Control Room. YouTube provides the stream URL and a stream key for the encoder. The key is a credential: YouTube describes stream keys as the password and address that tell the encoder where to send the feed. Do not publish it, share it, or include it in a public screenshot.
- Configure the encoder. Enter the stream URL and key in your encoder, select the video source and audio, and use settings supported by your source and connection. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions are at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Check upload capacity. YouTube recommends keeping total stream bitrate below available upload bandwidth and recommends 20% headroom. Account for both primary and backup bitrates if applicable, and remember other devices using the same connection reduce what is available to the encoder.
- Preview, then start. Start the encoder’s feed and inspect it in the Live Control Room before starting the public broadcast. Verify picture, rain and bird audio, and the watch page on a phone. Keep monitoring after going live rather than assuming the loop is intact.

Protect your archive and monitor the broadcast
Do not rely on YouTube to preserve a complete 24/7 broadcast as one archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, recommends keeping a local archive backup, and warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a recording, make a separate recording plan—for example, record locally and retain the file on an external drive. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
- Check the Live Control Room and watch page periodically for a frozen picture, missing audio or a disconnected feed.
- Listen to the stream on a separate device or phone so you can catch audio problems not obvious in the encoder preview.
- Keep the original source file and any required license records available.
- If using a local encoder, monitor power, internet and available upload bandwidth; shared network use can reduce bandwidth during the stream.
What to know about monetization in India
For standard ad-revenue eligibility, YouTube’s India-localized guidance states that a channel needs 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the preceding 365 days or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the preceding 90 days. The channel must also meet program and feature-specific conditions and pass YouTube’s review; meeting the numbers alone does not guarantee acceptance. See YouTube’s India guidance on earning money.

India is also included in the expanded YouTube Partner Program country list. Eligible creators may qualify for earlier access to fan-funding and Shopping features with 500 subscribers, three valid public uploads in 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified watch hours in 12 months or 3 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days. This is not the ad-revenue threshold, and individual features have additional requirements. Details are in YouTube’s expanded Partner Program overview.
Ambient videos are not exempt from originality review. YouTube’s policy update dated July 15, 2025 renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material can be ineligible for monetization. YouTube says the substance of videos should be materially varied and deliver creative, educational or other value. A stream made from footage or sound you do not have rights to also carries a separate copyright risk. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

Troubleshoot common problems
- You cannot start a live stream: Live streaming may not yet be enabled for the channel. Complete YouTube’s activation and verification steps, allowing up to 24 hours for first-time enablement.
- The encoder will not connect: Check that you selected the correct stream URL and key for this stream, and that the key was copied accurately. Treat the key as a password; replace or reset it in YouTube Studio if it has been exposed.
- The feed buffers or drops: Compare total encoder bitrate with available upload bandwidth. Leave YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, account for backup bitrate where relevant, and reduce competing network use.
- The stream is interrupted or replaced by a placeholder: YouTube may have detected third-party content. Review rights for both audio and video; if you hold a license, ask the rights owner whether your channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist.
- The archive is missing or incomplete: A broadcast longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Use a separate local or managed recording workflow when preserving the full programme matters.
- Monetization is not approved: Thresholds do not guarantee acceptance. Review the current YPP and channel monetization policies, especially whether repeated ambience uploads are materially varied and add creative or other value.
