You can stream Indian lo-fi beats around the clock with OBS Studio by first clearing the music rights, enabling livestreaming on your YouTube channel, sending a continuous audio-and-visual feed from OBS, and monitoring the broadcast. OBS and YouTube settings do not grant music rights or guarantee uninterrupted uptime. For an always-on stream without leaving a computer running, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative for YouTube; the DIY OBS setup is below.

What you need before starting

  • A verified YouTube channel with livestreaming enabled and no livestreaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
  • Indian lo-fi audio you have the necessary rights to broadcast continuously on YouTube.
  • A computer that can run OBS continuously, reliable power and internet, and enough sustained upload capacity for your chosen settings.
  • A visual to accompany the audio, such as a still image or animated scene you have permission to use. The video feed must also remain active and stable.

YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to hold all necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of live content, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. Check the current terms and YouTube’s live streaming restrictions before scheduling.

Clear the music rights first

Use music you created or obtain permission that expressly covers the way you plan to use it. A track described as “royalty-free” or “free to use,” a credit line, or a purchase does not by itself establish that you may broadcast it continuously, monetize the stream, or keep an archive. License terms vary, so confirm the details with the rights holder or catalog before putting a track on air.

Check each track’s license for

  • Continuous YouTube livestream use, rather than only personal listening or ordinary video uploads.
  • The countries or territories covered, especially if your channel is intended for a worldwide audience.
  • Monetization permission, if you plan to earn revenue from the broadcast.
  • Rights to retain or publish a recording of the stream, including an archived replay.
  • Content ID claims and whether the rights holder can add your channel to its allowlist.

Keep written licenses and track-level records where you can retrieve them. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If its systems detect a match, YouTube may replace the picture with a placeholder; unresolved third-party content can lead to the stream being interrupted or terminated. YouTube advises creators who have licensed third-party content to ask the owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist through Content ID. A license alone may not prevent an automated interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted.

How do I stream music 24/7 on YouTube with OBS?

  1. Enable livestreaming. In YouTube Studio, verify the channel and enable live streaming. YouTube requires verification and no live-streaming restriction in the prior 90 days; a first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours.
  2. Create an encoder stream. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream using an encoder. Set the title, description, visibility, and other metadata, then locate the stream key and server details. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
  3. Prepare the OBS scene and audio. Add a visual source and configure the audio source or playlist workflow you intend to use. Make sure the audio is audible in OBS’s meters and that the scene remains active. A playlist or playback setup must be able to continue without manual intervention; test it before relying on it for a long broadcast.
  4. Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, choose YouTube as the streaming service if it is available, then authenticate or enter the server URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room. If entering details manually, copy them carefully and do not share the key publicly.
  5. Set output settings. Choose a resolution and frame rate that your computer and connection can sustain. For a common H.264 1080p30 stream, YouTube’s recommended starting values are 10 Mbps video bitrate, CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and AAC stereo audio at 128 Kbps. These are YouTube recommendations, not a guarantee that every connection or visual will work well at those settings.
  6. Start the encoder and inspect the preview. Start streaming in OBS, then check the incoming preview and stream health in Live Control Room. Confirm the audio, image, and metadata are correct before making the event public or announcing it.
  7. Go live and monitor continuously. Follow the Live Control Room prompt to start the YouTube broadcast. For a 24/7 stream, arrange checks for audio and video quality, rights claims, connectivity, power, and playback failures. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder in advance, checking the preview, confirming the watch page is accessible, and monitoring quality. OBS running on a local computer does not provide an uptime guarantee.

What bitrate should I use for a YouTube music livestream?

For H.264 at 1080p30, YouTube lists 10 Mbps as its recommended video bitrate. It recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (not more than four seconds), and 128 Kbps stereo audio. Start with those values only if your computer and sustained upload capacity can support them; test with the actual visuals and audio you will use.

YouTube recommends leaving about 20% of upload capacity available rather than using the entire connection for the stream. Check sustained upload performance and leave that headroom when choosing a bitrate. A busy or unstable connection can still drop frames or disconnect even if a one-time speed test looks adequate.

RTMP/RTMPS or HLS?

Ingest choice When it fits Considerations
RTMP/RTMPS Typical SDR livestreams using ordinary encoder settings. YouTube recommends RTMPS when supported because it encrypts the connection. Match resolution, frame rate, and bitrate to YouTube’s current encoder guidance and your available upload capacity.
HLS A specific codec or HDR workflow that calls for HLS. YouTube lists OBS as an encoder that supports HLS output. HLS has different ingestion requirements and higher latency than RTMP; it is not necessary just because OBS offers it.

YouTube lists H.264, HEVC, and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS and supports up to 60 fps. The right bitrate depends on the selected format and frame rate; consult YouTube’s encoder settings rather than applying the 1080p30 H.264 figure to every setup.

Can I play lo-fi beats on a YouTube livestream?

Yes, if you have the rights for the precise livestream use. The fact that a track is Indian lo-fi, publicly available, or labeled free does not establish permission to broadcast it. Check live use, territories, monetization, archive rights, and Content ID handling with the rights holder. YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance explains that licensed third-party content may still trigger an interruption unless the owner allowlists your channel.

Can YouTube interrupt my stream if I have a music license?

Yes. YouTube says it scans live streams for third-party content, and a detected match may replace the video with a placeholder; unresolved content may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. If you have licensed a track, ask its owner to add your channel to the Content ID allowlist. Keep the license documentation available, but do not assume the license automatically prevents an automated match or interruption.

Will YouTube save a 24-hour livestream?

YouTube’s encoder setup guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not promise an archive for one continuous 24-hour stream. If you need a recording, verify YouTube’s current behavior and keep an independent recording plan; also confirm that your music license covers any retained or published replay.

Keep the broadcast running

Before launch

  • Test the complete stream, including representative audio, visuals, and playback transitions, before scheduling a long session.
  • Check the Live Control Room preview, stream health, and public watch page.
  • Confirm the computer’s power settings will not put it to sleep, and consider what happens after a power or internet outage.
  • If using a backup encoder, test failover in advance. YouTube recommends testing it rather than assuming it will work.
  • Check that any local recording is actually being created and that storage is available.

Common problems and fixes

Symptom Likely cause What to do
You cannot start a livestream. The channel is not verified, livestreaming has not been enabled, activation is still pending, or the channel has a recent restriction. Check YouTube Studio’s live access and channel status. Allow up to 24 hours after first-time enablement.
YouTube does not receive the OBS feed. The stream key or server details are incorrect, or the connection is unavailable. Copy the current server details and key from Live Control Room into OBS, check the network connection, and restart the encoder. Keep the key private.
The preview is unstable or drops frames. The chosen bitrate may exceed sustained upload capacity, or the connection may be fluctuating. Reduce output demands, test again, and preserve YouTube’s recommended upload headroom instead of saturating the connection.
The picture is replaced or the stream is interrupted after music begins. YouTube may have detected third-party content, and the channel may not be allowlisted. Pause the affected track, review the claim and license, then contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting. Do not resume until you have resolved the rights issue.
Audio stops while the stream remains live. The playback source or playlist may have stopped, ended, or lost access to its files. Check the audio meters and playback source in OBS, confirm the playlist can continue, and test transitions and recovery before returning to unattended operation.
The broadcast stops after a local outage. The computer lost power, OBS closed, or the internet connection failed. Restore power or connectivity, reopen OBS if needed, and check Live Control Room before restarting. For a continuous channel, plan for these local failure points rather than assuming OBS will recover from every outage.
