You can run a 24/7 chillhop livestream from a Windows PC with OBS, but the first requirement is a music license that expressly permits continuous YouTube rebroadcast and any saved archive. “Royalty-free” is not enough by itself: check the license, confirm any Content ID allowlisting, then configure and test the stream. A license does not prevent YouTube interruptions if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel.
First, make sure the music is licensed for a 24/7 livestream
YouTube makes the creator responsible for having the necessary rights to use live content worldwide, including music licensing rights. Its livestream terms and conditions place that responsibility on the channel owner.
Before streaming, get written permission for every track or catalog. Confirm that the grant covers all of the following:

- Continuous, creator-operated livestreaming on YouTube—not just music in an ordinary edited video.
- Saving and making the livestream archive or video-on-demand (VOD) available, if you plan to keep it.
- Your channel, the countries where viewers may watch, and your intended monetization.
- Any required attribution, reporting, or other conditions.
- The rights holder’s Content ID process, including whether your channel must be allowlisted.
Keep the license, track list, and any written allowlisting confirmation. A license and Content ID allowlisting are separate operational checks: YouTube explains that a live stream can be interrupted when it detects third-party content, even when the creator has permission. The rights holder may need to add the channel to its allowlist. YouTube also says that an archived stream can receive a claim after the live broadcast ends. See Copyright issues with live streams.

Why “royalty-free” and Chillhop’s creator program do not settle the question
“Royalty-free” does not necessarily mean public domain, unrestricted, or cleared for a continuous music broadcast. Read the actual license for the specific use you intend.
Chillhop’s current creator program excludes creator-run 24/7 streams
Chillhop’s Creators FAQ says, “Please do not use our music to create your own 24/7 music stream.” It also says the music is not royalty-free, and that the website livestream player and Spotify or Apple Music playlists are not permitted sources for a YouTube livestream. Do not capture or rebroadcast those feeds as a workaround. See Chillhop Creators.

Chillhop’s creator terms, last updated 17 August 2026, describe a limited license for designated tracks in qualifying audiovisual productions on linked YouTube or Twitch channels. The program is for eligible registered individuals, requires credits, and excludes standalone audio as well as commercial or corporate use. Those terms do not override the FAQ’s specific prohibition on making your own 24/7 music stream. Review the Chillhop creator terms and FAQ before relying on the program for any use.
Creator Music is not an established route for continuous live rebroadcast
The surfaced YouTube Help information describes Creator Music as available to U.S. creators in the YouTube Partner Program and says a removed license no longer protects a track from copyright claims. The information available does not establish that a Creator Music license permits continuous 24/7 live streaming. Do not assume it does; check the specific track’s current license and terms. Set up the YouTube stream and OBS on Windows
OBS is free to use, but it is an encoder, not a music license. Use the current OBS Help Portal and YouTube’s Get started with live streaming guidance for the current interface and account-specific setup steps.
- Prepare the licensed audio. Assemble only tracks whose written permission covers your planned live broadcast. If you intend to retain an archive, verify that VOD use is covered too. Avoid routing a website radio player or consumer music-service playlist into OBS unless the rights holder expressly permits that redistribution.
- Enable YouTube live streaming and create an event. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and follow the current encoder setup instructions. YouTube’s interface and account eligibility requirements can change, so use the live control room’s displayed settings rather than relying on an old menu path.
- Connect OBS using the stream key. In YouTube’s live control room, copy the stream key and enter it in OBS’s stream settings, following YouTube’s current encoder instructions. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it, and reset it if it is exposed.
- Set up audio playback and verify the output. Configure OBS to capture the intended audio source, then check the audio meter and preview before going live. Confirm that the selected YouTube event is the one you mean to broadcast to.
- Test privately or unlisted first. Use music with documented rights, watch the live dashboard for copyright warnings, and make sure the audio is present and stable. If the rights holder requires allowlisting, confirm it before treating a clean test as proof that the catalog is cleared.
- Start the stream and monitor it. Keep an eye on the YouTube live control room and OBS. Once the stream ends, inspect the saved archive for claims if YouTube retains one.
The supplied official setup material does not establish a tested Windows specification, bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, or OBS configuration for uninterrupted 24/7 operation. Follow the values YouTube presents for your stream and encoder, and test the result; do not treat a generic preset as a guarantee of compatibility or uptime.

What “24/7” requires from a Windows PC
With a local OBS setup, the PC must remain on and able to encode and send the stream. The stream also depends on the computer’s power, Windows and OBS continuing to run, and a working internet connection. These are practical dependencies of a PC-hosted broadcast, not a measured uptime guarantee. Plan for interruptions and check the live dashboard rather than assuming an unattended computer will recover from every failure.
Troubleshooting common problems
YouTube interrupts the stream or shows a copyright warning
Stop and review the warning. Check that the track is covered for continuous live use and that any required Content ID allowlisting has been completed. A general video-use license may not cover a 24/7 rebroadcast. Contact the rights holder about an incorrect match or claim; do not simply restart the same unverified audio.

The live stream appears clean, but the archive gets a claim
YouTube says claims may be applied to archived streams after the live event. Review the claim against your saved license and track list, then follow YouTube’s and the rights holder’s procedures. Confirm that archive or VOD rights were included in the grant.
The stream stops while the PC is unattended
Check whether Windows, OBS, power, or the internet connection stopped working, and inspect YouTube Studio for a stream interruption or policy warning. A restart can restore transmission only if the underlying problem is fixed; it does not resolve a licensing issue.
The music plays in OBS but not on YouTube
Check OBS’s audio meters and selected capture source, then verify the YouTube event and stream key. Use YouTube’s current encoder setup guidance to confirm the connection and output. Do not troubleshoot by switching to an unlicensed radio feed or playlist.
