To reduce the chance that a Samsung Galaxy phone puts Larix Broadcaster to sleep during a YouTube livestream, set Larix’s battery use to Unrestricted, add it to Never sleeping apps, and turn Power saving off for the broadcast. These settings reduce avoidable background restrictions; they cannot guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 stream.
Change Larix’s battery settings
Samsung’s menus vary by Galaxy model, Android release, One UI version, and region. The routes below are documented examples, not a universal path. If a menu differs, search Settings for “Larix,” “battery,” or “Never sleeping apps,” then verify the settings on the phone you plan to use.
Set per-app battery use to Unrestricted
- Open Settings → Applications and select Larix Broadcaster.
- Tap Battery, then select Unrestricted, if that option is available.
Samsung’s documented path is for Android 12 / One UI 4.0, so newer versions may label or place the controls differently. Android describes Unrestricted as allowing background work with potentially higher battery use; Optimized applies the default, interaction-based optimization; and Restricted can prevent background execution. See Samsung’s Android 12 battery-optimization instructions and Android’s background optimization guidance.

- Open Settings → Battery and device care (or Device care) → Battery.
- Tap Background usage limits → Never sleeping apps.
- Tap +, select Larix Broadcaster, then tap Add.
Samsung says Galaxy device management can place apps into sleeping or deep-sleeping states based on usage patterns; this exception is intended to keep Larix out of that automatic sleep list. The precise labels can vary. See Samsung Developer’s application-management documentation and Samsung US’s battery optimization instructions.

Turn Power saving off while streaming
Disable Power saving for a continuous broadcast. Samsung says this mode restricts background access to Wi-Fi and mobile data and may limit location services, which can interfere with an app that must keep sending a live feed. Samsung’s support article says it was written based on Android 13 and notes that names and entry points may vary: Galaxy Battery – Optimization.
Reduce battery drain without disrupting the stream
Unrestricted background operation can use more power. Samsung identifies a bright display, longer screen-on time, high-performance streaming of high-resolution content, location, and other enabled services as factors that increase battery consumption. Reduce display brightness and avoid services Larix does not need, but do not disable capture or connectivity permissions required for your stream. For a long session, use a compatible USB-C PD adapter and cable only after checking your phone’s charging requirements; the cited guidance does not establish a particular charger, wattage, thermal result, or uptime guarantee. See Samsung’s battery guidance.

What these settings can—and cannot—do
Softvelum, the maker of Larix, says: “Your app will work in background until you close it explicitly.” Its FAQ describes Android background streaming as available while Larix is in the background or the device is locked. That is a statement about app capability, not a promise of uninterrupted sessions across Samsung models, software versions, app releases, networks, or power conditions. Softvelum’s Larix FAQ.
Samsung also notes that in One UI 6 with Android 14, foreground services for apps targeting Android 14 are guaranteed to work as intended only when developed in accordance with Android’s new foreground-service API policy. This platform note does not establish Larix’s target SDK or confirm compliance for a particular Larix release. Samsung Developer documentation.

Check network and stream behavior separately
Battery settings address background execution; they do not fix an unstable connection. Softvelum says worsening network conditions can cause frame loss with RTMP and RTSP. Its FAQ says SRT attempts error recovery within its configured latency period and recommends Adaptive bitrate when network conditions may be unreliable. A configured bitrate is a target, not a guarantee that the connection can sustain it. Choose Larix’s protocol and bitrate with the available network in mind, and check YouTube’s stream health if the picture drops frames. Softvelum’s Larix FAQ.
Troubleshoot a stream that still stops
- Larix stops when the screen locks: Check that its battery mode is Unrestricted and that it appears under Never sleeping apps. Confirm the change on the phone itself; menu paths vary.
- The stream drops when Power saving is enabled: Turn Power saving off during the broadcast, since Samsung says it restricts background Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- The app stays open but YouTube shows interruptions or frame loss: Investigate network quality and Larix’s protocol or bitrate settings. The Samsung battery controls do not ensure delivery over a poor connection.
- The phone runs low on power during a long session: Lower unnecessary display and service usage, and check that the charging accessory meets that model’s requirements. No particular charger is established here as a way to prevent overheating or guarantee uptime.
- The setting or menu is missing: Search Settings for Larix or battery controls. Samsung’s documented per-app route is specific to Android 12 / One UI 4.0, while its support guidance notes that menu names and entry points can vary.
