Stop JavaScript coverage with await page.coverage.stopJSCoverage() after the interactions you want to measure. It ends collection and returns the coverage reports gathered for the page’s scripts. Coverage must be started first with startJSCoverage().
Stop JavaScript coverage and collect its results
A typical single-page sequence is to start coverage, load the page, perform the interactions you want included, and then stop coverage:

console.log(jsCoverage);stopJSCoverage() resolves to an array of reports, one for each reported script. Call it on the same Puppeteer page where coverage was started. The official Puppeteer Coverage API reference documents the start and stop methods.
Handle coverage across page navigations
startJSCoverage() has a resetOnNavigation option, which defaults to true. Setting it to false does not guarantee that coverage data survives navigation: Chrome may discard the previous page’s JavaScript execution environment and its data.

For a multi-page journey, treat each page as a separate collection boundary. Stop coverage before navigating away, start a new collection on the next page, then combine the returned entries in your application if you need a journey-wide result.

Include anonymous scripts when needed
Scripts without an associated URL—including code created with eval or new Function—are omitted by default. To include them, enable reportAnonymousScripts when starting JavaScript coverage:
await page.coverage.startJSCoverage({ reportAnonymousScripts: true });Puppeteer reports these scripts with a generated debugger://VM URL unless the code supplies a //# sourceURL comment. This option changes which scripts are reported; it does not change when coverage stops.

Read or export the returned coverage
Each report includes script text and executed ranges. Puppeteer’s example estimates used bytes by summing range.end - range.start - 1 for each range, then comparing that total with the script text length. Treat this as range-based coverage data, not as a separate built-in percentage statistic.

CSS coverage is separate: stopping JavaScript coverage does not stop CSS coverage; use its distinct coverage method when collecting CSS.
Troubleshoot common coverage issues
- The stop call fails because coverage was not started: call
await page.coverage.startJSCoverage()on that page before stopping. - Reports are empty or omit code you expected: make sure the relevant interactions ran before stopping. If the missing code is anonymous or generated by
evalornew Function, start with{ reportAnonymousScripts: true }. - Data disappears after navigation: stopping is a collection boundary, not a way to restore discarded execution data. Stop before leaving each page, restart on the next, and merge the reports yourself.
- You expected CSS in the result: JavaScript and CSS coverage are separate collections. Stop CSS coverage with its own method.
