To stop every Instagram alert on your iPhone, turn off Allow Notifications for Instagram in Settings. If you want to keep messages or other alerts, adjust Instagram’s notification categories instead of blocking the app’s notifications entirely.
Turn off all Instagram notifications on your iPhone
- Open the iPhone’s Settings app.
- Tap Apps.
- Tap Instagram, then Notifications.
- Turn off Allow Notifications.
This stops Instagram notifications on that iPhone. If your iOS version shows a different route, Apple also documents Settings > Notifications > Instagram. Use whichever path is available on your device. See Apple’s instructions for turning notifications on or off for a specific app and the iPhone User Guide to notification settings.

Keep some Instagram alerts and silence others
To keep messages or selected activity alerts, change notification settings in Instagram rather than switching off every Instagram notification in iPhone Settings. Instagram’s Manage push notifications help page describes pausing push notifications and adjusting them by category, including categories related to interactions and posts. The page is in Russian, and category names and availability can vary, including by account type, so the exact options may differ in your app.
Reduce interruptions without turning off every alert
If you still want notifications but would prefer fewer interruptions, iPhone settings offer less restrictive choices. Available controls can vary by app and iOS version.
