To access Echoes of Sekigahara, make sure you own the expansion and install Ghost of Yōtei patch v.2.0. Existing game owners can get it through the Complete Edition Upgrade; new players can buy the Complete Edition, which includes the base game and expansion. The official announcements do not specify the in-game quest or menu trigger, so an exact start location cannot be confirmed from those announcements.
1. Make sure your purchase includes the expansion
The right purchase depends on whether you already own Ghost of Yōtei:

PlayStation’s August 12, 2026 announcement listed U.S. prices of $14.99 for the upgrade and $69.99 for the Complete Edition at announcement time. These are dated U.S. prices, not a guarantee of the current price elsewhere; check PlayStation Store or a local retailer before buying. The physical Complete Edition was announced for October 1, 2026. If you already own the game, compare the digital upgrade rather than buying another copy.

2. Install patch v.2.0
PlayStation announced patch v.2.0 as the delivery route for the expansion. Its rollout was scheduled for October 1, 2026 globally and October 2 in some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Those dates have passed, but rollout or store availability may still vary by region. Downloading the patch requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account.
- Confirm that your purchase includes Echoes of Sekigahara: the Complete Edition Upgrade for existing owners or the Complete Edition for newcomers.
- Connect your PS5 to the internet and sign in to your PlayStation account.
- Install the available Ghost of Yōtei update. Check the installed version in the game or console update information and confirm it is v.2.0 or later.
If the expansion is not available in-game, first verify that the purchase is associated with the account you are using and that the update has installed. Store and rollout availability can differ by region.

3. Find the in-game start trigger
The official PlayStation announcements reviewed do not name a specific quest, map marker, menu option, or story milestone that starts Echoes of Sekigahara. They confirm the purchase route and patch, but do not provide an exact post-installation walkthrough. Accordingly, do not rely on an unverified trigger; check the current game’s quest and map screens or official post-launch guidance for your version and region.
What the DLC includes
Echoes of Sekigahara is a narrative expansion that moves between Atsu’s present and her past during the Battle of Sekigahara. In the present-day story, Nagato, a figure from Atsu’s past, arrives in Ezo. Atsu joins him to search for an ally taken by the Vipers in the previously unseen Ashoro Foothills. PlayStation also announced new enemy types, heavy weapons, mythic tales and abilities, armor sets, and cosmetics. See PlayStation’s announcement for the expansion description.
