To start a fundraising page for a Walk to End Alzheimer’s, find your local event, register, customize your page in the Participant Center, then share its link with people you know. You can create an individual page without leading a team; team registration is an option if you want to recruit and coordinate other walkers.
1. Find your local Walk and register
- Open the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk finder and select your community’s event.
- On the event page, choose the registration option and complete the steps shown for that Walk. Registration screens and event terms can vary, so follow the current instructions for your location.
- If you want to organize a group, choose “Start a team.” The Association’s South Carolina chapter says a new participant who does this becomes the team captain. Returning participants can log in and choose to start a team or restart a prior one. If you only want your own fundraising page, you do not need to create a team.
2. Customize your fundraising page
After registering, log in to the Participant Center and open “My Page.” The Association’s instructions identify this as the place to add a photo and edit the story explaining why you are walking.
- Use a photo you are comfortable sharing.
- Write a short, personal explanation of why you are participating and what you are asking people to do.
- Share only as much personal or family health information as you want. The official guidance encourages telling your reason for walking, but does not require disclosing private details.
Make the donation request easy to understand: tell supporters that they can contribute through your page, and include the event or team name if it helps them recognize the cause.
3. Share the page and invite support
Send the page link directly to friends, family, and coworkers by email or text, and share it on social networks if that suits your audience. A direct note gives people context; a public post can help you reach more of your network. The Association’s guidance also recommends word-of-mouth outreach.

The Association’s Walk guidance describes the ALZ Fundraising app as an option for receiving donation notifications, texting supporters, updating a page, and sharing your story socially. App availability and features can change, so check your app store or event account for what is currently offered.
4. Decide whether a team page fits
A personal page is the simpler choice when you plan to fundraise on your own. A team page is useful if you want to bring other walkers together and coordinate their efforts. The Association says team captains recruit family, friends, and coworkers, help them fundraise, and keep the team engaged; captains also have access to a team fundraising webpage and tools.

5. Check local donation and event details
Accepted donation methods and event rules can differ by location. For example, a Vermont Walk FAQ lists online donations, mailed checks or money orders, and hand delivery of cash, checks, or money orders to the local chapter; those methods should not be assumed for every event. Check your event page or contact the local chapter for accepted payment methods, deadlines, receipts, refund rules, and how donations are allocated.
