You can loop a classical music file or playlist in OBS and send it to YouTube, but OBS looping alone does not guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast. Before going live, confirm your channel is eligible, clear the rights to both the music and the specific recordings, test the stream, and plan for monitoring and outages. This guide walks through the setup and its limits.
Before you start: check eligibility and music rights
Confirm YouTube live-streaming access
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Channel eligibility and activation are separate from configuring OBS, so check access in YouTube Studio before building the broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
Clear the composition and the recording
A classical composition being old does not automatically make every recording of it free to rebroadcast. Treat the composition or arrangement and the particular performance and recording as separate rights questions. Confirm that your permissions cover the territories where you intend to stream, the live transmission, and any archive you expect YouTube to retain.
YouTube’s live-stream terms require creators to have the necessary rights to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights. YouTube also scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. A license alone may not prevent a live interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Claims against an archive can also arrive after the broadcast.

- Keep copies of written licenses and a track list.
- Where required, obtain confirmation that the relevant rights holder has allowlisted your channel through Content ID.
- Test the exact repertoire in a short stream before relying on it for a long broadcast.

Create the YouTube stream and connect OBS
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create or schedule an encoder stream. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions to find the stream URL and stream key.
- Keep the stream key private. It is a credential that lets OBS send a feed to your YouTube channel. Enter it only in OBS. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio.
- Enter the connection details in OBS. Open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and enter the stream URL and stream key if OBS presents those fields. Use the YouTube account or connection option shown in your installed OBS version if available; the labels can vary by version.
- Set up a simple scene. Add an authorized cover image or other permitted visual, then add your audio playback source. Check the Audio Mixer meters while audio plays.
OBS’s Quick Start Guide recommends setting up sources, checking audio levels, and testing a short stream before broadcasting for real.

Loop one recording or a playlist in OBS

For one audio file
- In your OBS scene, add a Media Source.
- Select the audio file and enable Loop in the source properties.
- Play the source and check that its meter moves in the Audio Mixer. Listen through the end and beginning of the file to verify the transition and volume.

For multiple tracks
- Install VLC before configuring this option.
- Add VLC Video as a source and select the audio files for its playlist.
- Enable Loop Playlist. If you want tracks in a different order each time, use Shuffle Playlist as appropriate.
- Test several track changes, including the transition from the last file back to the first. Watch for gaps, unexpected silence, level differences, or a source that stops playing.
These are playback controls, not stream redundancy: looping keeps media playing only while the OBS source and the systems it depends on continue to work.

Test the broadcast before making it public
- Set the YouTube stream to Unlisted for an initial test.
- Start the encoder in OBS and inspect the preview in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
- Open the watch page and confirm that the image appears and the audio is audible at a consistent level.
- Let a test run long enough to check track transitions or a file loop boundary. Stop and correct problems before scheduling or publishing the full broadcast.
- During a live session, monitor audio and video quality rather than assuming the OBS preview guarantees YouTube is receiving a healthy stream.
YouTube recommends preparing in advance, starting an encoder early, testing failover where applicable, and monitoring stream quality. Its live encoder tips and streaming tips cover preparation and monitoring.
What “24/7” requires beyond an OBS loop
An OBS loop does not keep a stream running through a power failure, computer crash, network interruption, encoder stop, or problem ingesting the feed at YouTube. A continuous broadcast therefore needs an operational plan for the computer and power, a dependable network connection with upload headroom, encoder recovery, local recording if needed, and someone or something monitoring the stream. YouTube advises leaving upload bandwidth headroom and monitoring the stream; its guidance does not validate any particular 24/7 failover design.

- Keep the computer and OBS running for as long as the broadcast is intended to continue.
- Plan how you will notice and respond if OBS stops, the connection drops, or YouTube reports an ingest problem.
- Test your recovery steps before relying on them. A looping source is not a backup encoder or a second network path.
- Keep a local recording if you need a dependable copy of the program.
Will YouTube archive a 24-hour live stream?
Do not count on YouTube capturing a complete replay of a continuous 24-hour broadcast. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; a stream lasting more than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If viewers need a replay, split the program into shorter sessions, record locally, and verify each archive after the session. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance and its encoder instructions.
