You can broadcast prerecorded videos as a YouTube Live stream in India with a verified, eligible channel and an encoder. To keep the channel live around the clock, plan for monitoring, interruptions, and stream handoffs: YouTube’s guidance says broadcasts under 12 hours are automatically archived, but does not promise that one broadcast will stay live indefinitely.
Before you begin: check YouTube Live eligibility
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions during the previous 90 days. First-time live-streaming enablement can take up to 24 hours. YouTube also says streamers must be at least 16 years old. Check your channel’s eligibility and enable live streaming before scheduling a launch; do not leave activation until the day you plan to go live.
There is no India-specific technical requirement for an ordinary private YouTube channel established by the sources here. YouTube’s own live-stream requirements, content policies, rights rules, and applicable law still apply.

An encoder sends your prerecorded video to YouTube’s live endpoint. YouTube supports software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. Its encoder documentation also lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded streaming; that listing alone does not establish provider availability or terms in India.

For a first test, a software encoder is a valid starting point. Choose hardware only if your production needs justify an additional device. A cloud service is worth considering if you do not want a local computer and home connection to be part of the always-on chain.
Set up the prerecorded live stream
- Prepare the video or playlist. Use material you have the rights to stream. Decide how the video will repeat or how the playlist will advance, and make a plan for restarting or handing off the broadcast before YouTube’s documented automatic-archive window.
- Create or schedule the stream in YouTube Live Control Room. Select the encoder workflow and obtain the server URL and stream key shown for the stream.
- Enter the connection details in your encoder. Paste YouTube’s server URL and stream key into the encoder’s streaming configuration. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Do not publish or share it.
- Set output quality to match your source and connection. Choose a resolution and frame rate appropriate to the prerecorded material. Set bitrate according to the encoder’s guidance and your tested upload capacity, not an assumed internet-plan maximum. YouTube recommends leaving about 20% upload bandwidth headroom above the stream bitrate.
- Test before launch. Start the encoder and check YouTube’s incoming preview and stream health before taking the broadcast live. Confirm that picture and audio are present and that the feed is stable on the connection you will use for the real schedule.
- Go live and monitor it. Verify the stream is visible to viewers, monitor audio and video, and watch for YouTube warnings or a loss of encoder connection. Have a person and a recovery procedure available; a 24/7 schedule is an operating plan, not proof of uninterrupted uptime.
Plan for 24/7 continuity and replays
Do not treat one broadcast as an indefinite archive
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not promise a complete archive for broadcasts lasting longer than that, nor does it guarantee that a single broadcast will remain online indefinitely. If a complete replay matters, arrange session handoffs and archive handling around the under-12-hour guidance rather than assuming a 24-hour stream will produce a complete recording.

Build recovery into the schedule
- Know how to restart the encoder and reconnect it using the correct stream configuration.
- Decide who will notice an interruption and how they will check whether the feed is live again.
- Test the restart and playlist behavior before relying on it for a public all-day schedule.
- Keep the stream key private and use YouTube’s stream-health information to diagnose incoming-feed problems.
YouTube’s documentation does not establish an uninterrupted 24-hour session or indefinite uptime for any setup. Treat monitoring and recovery as part of the operating plan, whether the encoder is local or cloud-based.

Rights can interrupt a live broadcast
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches. A match can interrupt or terminate a stream. Having a licence does not necessarily prevent an interruption: YouTube says the rights holder may need to allowlist your channel. Confirm that your permission covers streaming the material on YouTube Live and address allowlisting with the rights holder where needed.

All content must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, as well as applicable rights and legal requirements. Repeating a video continuously does not exempt it from those rules. Resolve rights questions before scheduling the stream, rather than waiting for a claim or interruption.
A 24/7 schedule does not guarantee monetization
Running a stream continuously does not itself qualify a channel for the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) or guarantee acceptance, ads, or revenue. YouTube’s India-facing monetization guidance lists the ad-revenue threshold alternatives as 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public long-form watch hours in the preceding 365 days or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the preceding 90 days. Other requirements and channel review also apply, and individual monetization features can have separate eligibility conditions.

For local context, India’s National Informatics Centre describes providing live and on-demand webcast services, including 24×7 webcasts for government channels, and lists OBS as an encoder option. That is an example of government webcast services, not evidence of a private creator’s YouTube eligibility or guaranteed uptime.
