If an email claims to be from Free Mobile and asks you to verify details, sign in, open an attachment or act urgently, do not use its links or reply. Check the message through Free’s services reached independently, report suspicious email to Signal Spam, and take immediate account or banking action if you shared information.
How to spot a fake Free Mobile email
Phishing is an attempt to steal personal or banking information by impersonating a trusted organization. A message can look convincing and still be fraudulent: Free warns that an impersonation email copied its visual identity and had no spelling mistakes. Treat individual clues as reasons to verify, not as a definitive test.
- Sender details: check the full email address, not just the display name. Free lists
freemobile@free-mobile.frfor Free Mobile, but says assistance emails may come from other addresses. That address is not a universal test for every Free communication. - Links: beware of unexpected links, especially if the displayed text and destination do not match or the link redirects elsewhere. On a computer, hover over a link to inspect its destination without clicking. On a phone, avoid the link if in doubt and open Free’s official service yourself.
- Unexpected files: do not open an attachment you were not expecting.
- Pressure or threats: urgency, warnings that an account will be blocked, or demands to act immediately are warning signs.
- Requests for secrets or payment details: do not provide your subscriber password, one-time security code or banking information through an email link. Free says it never displays bank details in clear text in its emails and SMS.
- Premium-rate call instructions: a request to call a premium-rate number is another warning sign.
Free has specifically warned about a fake email displaying an IBAN and demanding urgent verification under a supposed European regulation; Free says that claim is false. A logo, familiar display name, personal details in the message, polished layout or correct spelling does not prove authenticity. See Free’s phishing campaign warning and Free’s guidance on identifying phishing attempts.

- Do not click, reply or open an unexpected attachment. Do not enter credentials or codes on a page reached from the email.
- Open Free independently. Use the official Free site or app that you navigate to yourself, or access your Mobile Subscriber Area directly.
- Check recent communications. Free says recent emails and SMS sent to Mobile subscribers can be found in the Mobile Subscriber Area under Nos communications > Communications de Free.
- Contact Free through a known route if needed. Free lists 3244 as its assistance number. If a call appears to come from 3244 but seems doubtful, hang up and dial the number yourself.
For additional context, Free says its SMS messages are never sent from a number beginning with 06 or 07, and Free Mobile SMS links begin with m.free.fr. These details can help you assess a text, but they do not make it safe to follow a doubtful link; verify through Free independently.

How to report a phishing email
- Report it to Signal Spam. Signal Spam’s workflow requires an account and a compatible mail module so you can report spam from your mailbox. Its site says reports are shared with relevant actors able to take appropriate action; reporting does not guarantee an immediate removal or prevent all fraud.
- Delete the email after reporting if you have not been harmed and do not need to keep it. Free’s instruction is: “Ne cliquez sur rien, ne répondez pas à cet email, signalez-le à Signal SPAM puis supprimez-le.” See Signal Spam.
- Keep evidence if you were affected. If you clicked, shared information or suffered a loss, retain the message and relevant details before deleting anything. Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr advises keeping evidence, particularly the phishing message.
The reporting route depends on the message: Signal Spam is for email. For a suspicious SMS, Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr identifies 33700 as the reporting route. Its guidance also explains official reporting and victim-support options: how to report a phishing email and what to do after phishing.
