To skip time or switch between day and night in The Blood of Dawnwalker, travel to a shrine and choose Wait. Waiting uses the game’s limited narrative time, so check your quest log and any on-screen time-cost indicator before you do it.
How to wait and change the time
- Travel to a shrine. Shrines serve as fast-travel points.
- Interact with the shrine and select Wait from the available options.
- Check the in-game clock afterward to see the resulting time. The available guide does not specify how many hours a wait advances or give platform-specific button prompts, so follow the on-screen controls.
The shrine interaction is documented in PowerPyx’s time-changing guide, published September 2, 2026.
What advances time—and what does not
Time advances when you complete certain goals, such as quests, and when you change from day to night. Some dialogue choices can also consume time. Activities that advance the clock display an hourglass indicating how much time they will use, according to Bandai Namco’s gameplay recap and the PowerPyx guide.
Ordinary exploration and idling do not automatically move the clock. You can roam between time-consuming actions without the clock advancing simply because you are moving around.
#1 Best Overall
- Day 1 Edition includes the Base Game Disc, Steelbook, and World Map.
- Make The Story Your Own - Experience and shape the plot the way you want. Embark on the quest to save your family, or swear revenge on your sire and destroy everyone standing in your way. Discover ancient secrets lurking in the valley. Rush in head first or risk taking time to prepare. Go alone or search for friends and forge unlikely alliances.
- Day And Night - Experience two different gameplay loops, offering distinct abilities to choose from, mysteries to uncover, and varying ways to achieve your goals. Experiment with different approaches and discover how the world reacts to your actions.
- Every Action Matters - Every action - and inaction - shapes the world around you. Your family’s days are numbered, and every time you take on a quest, time moves forward, compelling you closer to the end. Choose carefully whom to help and whom to leave behind. You will not have time for everyone. The world waits for no one. And neither does the villain.
Why switch between day and night?
Day and night are different gameplay modes, with distinct abilities and approaches. Coen’s vampire abilities become available at night, as described in Bandai Namco’s game overview and gameplay recap. Some vendors and objectives are also time-specific; the PowerPyx guide notes that sun and moon icons mark relevant map content.
Switch when you need a time-specific vendor, objective, or ability set. A 2025 PlayStation Blog developer gameplay article also shows a quest encounter changing with the time of day, though it predates the game’s release.

Check deadlines before spending time
The main story gives Coen 30 in-game days to save his family, according to Bandai Namco’s gameplay recap and the PowerPyx guide. Waiting is a deliberate use of that resource. Before choosing Wait or starting another time-consuming activity, check the quest log: time-limited quests show their remaining days, according to PowerPyx. Also look for the hourglass indicator on activities that advance time.
