You may be able to show the Hijri date on a Samsung Galaxy lock screen, but availability depends on the phone, region, and One UI version. First search Settings for “Hijri” or “Islamic calendar” and check Lock screen and AOD. If a dedicated option appears, enable it. If it does not, a standard Calendar widget may show events, but it is not necessarily able to display the Hijri date.
How do I show the Hijri date on my Samsung lock screen?
- Open Settings and use its search function to look for “Hijri” or “Islamic calendar.”
- Also open Lock screen and AOD and look for a dedicated Hijri or Islamic calendar setting.
- If your phone has that option, turn it on and check the lock screen and Always On Display (AOD) to see where the date appears.
Some Samsung Community users have reported finding a Hijri calendar option in Lock screen and AOD settings. That is a device-dependent community report, not a universal feature confirmed by Samsung’s current support guidance. If no setting appears, do not assume that adding the ordinary Calendar widget will provide the alternate date. Samsung Community Europe user report.
How to add a widget to a Samsung lock screen
Samsung documents lock-screen widgets for supported Galaxy devices and software versions. The labels vary by interface: you may see Widgets, + Widgets, or Add Widgets.
- Long-press an empty area of the lock screen.
- Tap Widgets, + Widgets, or Add Widgets, whichever appears.
- Choose an available widget and, if offered, its style or option.
- Tap Done to save.
Samsung says lock-screen widgets can also appear on AOD when AOD is enabled on supported devices. Menu wording and availability differ by One UI version and regional device variant. Why doesn’t the Samsung Calendar widget show the Hijri date?
A calendar widget and a secondary calendar date are different features. In a Samsung Members moderator response dated March 27, 2025, Samsung said the Calendar lock-screen widget showed synced calendar events and did not support displaying a secondary Islamic Hijri calendar directly on the lock screen in the One UI version addressed by that reply. Because this is a dated forum response, it should not be treated as a permanent specification for every later version or Galaxy device. Samsung Members discussion and moderator response.
What to do if there is no Hijri setting
- Confirm your Galaxy model, region or device variant, and One UI version. These details can affect available settings and widget instructions.
- Search Settings again using both “Hijri” and “Islamic calendar,” then inspect Lock screen and AOD.
- Check Samsung’s support information for your region and device, and check whether a software update is available. An update is not a guarantee that the option will appear.
- If you add a Calendar widget, verify what it actually displays. It may provide synced events rather than the Hijri date.
The Samsung support pages cited here document general lock-screen widgets, not a Hijri-date switch that is available across all Galaxy phones. The available sources also do not establish an app or customization module that reliably places the Hijri date directly on every Samsung lock screen.
