To show prerecorded open-house tours continuously on YouTube, send them to YouTube Live through an encoder that loops a video or playlist. You can run the encoder on a computer you maintain, or use cloud playout so playback runs remotely. In either case, check channel eligibility, configure a stable feed, clear the rights to every video and audio element, and plan separately for the replay: YouTube may not archive streams that run longer than 12 hours.
What you need for a continuous YouTube tour stream
A regular YouTube upload is not the same as a continuous live broadcast. For a tour to appear as a YouTube Live stream, an encoder must send the video feed to YouTube. YouTube describes an encoder as a software application or standalone hardware device that converts video into a digital format for streaming (YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder).
- A YouTube channel that is eligible to livestream.
- One or more finished tour videos and permission to use all footage, music, narration, graphics, and other included material.
- An encoder that can loop a video or play a playlist, either on a computer you keep running or through cloud playout.
- A stable connection from the encoder to YouTube and a saved local recording if retaining the full broadcast matters.

Check whether your channel can go live
YouTube’s current eligibility guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. First-time live streaming can take up to 24 hours to become available, so enable it and confirm access before you schedule a property tour (YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming; YouTube Help: Live stream on YouTube).

If the live option is unavailable, check channel verification and restrictions first. Do not leave activation until the day the open house is meant to be shown.
Choose where the video loop will run

A local encoder is suitable if you can keep the machine and internet connection running and can respond to failures. Cloud playout removes the need to leave your own computer operating, but it does not remove dependencies on the service, account, files, network, or YouTube. Neither method guarantees an uninterrupted broadcast, discovery, leads, or a saved replay.

Set up the YouTube Live stream and encoder
- Create the broadcast in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio, start the live-stream setup, and create or schedule the stream. Use the stream’s title, description, visibility, and schedule appropriate for the listing.
- Copy the stream URL and key into your encoder. The stream key identifies the destination and lets the encoder send its feed. Treat it like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the broadcast. - Choose a loop or playlist. Add the approved tour video or videos to the encoder’s playback queue and enable looping if the tour should repeat. Confirm the order and transitions before going live.
- Use stable encoder settings. For RTMP-capable workflows, YouTube recommends RTMPS. Use constant bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds between keyframes. Select a resolution and bitrate your upload connection can sustain, following YouTube’s published recommendations for that resolution (YouTube Help: Recommended encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions).
- Preview and check stream health. Start the encoder feed and inspect the preview in YouTube Studio before making the broadcast public. Test with footage that has movement and audio similar to the actual tour, then monitor stream health for connection or encoding issues.
- Start the public broadcast and verify playback. Once the preview and settings look right, start the stream in YouTube Studio if the workflow requires it. Check the public watch page from another device or browser to confirm the tour is playing and audio is audible.
Protect the tour’s replay and viewer rewind
YouTube can automatically archive a livestream shorter than 12 hours. A stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all, so do not rely on YouTube to preserve an all-day or overnight broadcast. Keep a local recording if you need a dependable copy (YouTube Help: Archive live streams).

Clear rights before scheduling the broadcast
YouTube scans live video for third-party content. A match can replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate the broadcast. Even if you have a licence, a rights holder may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID for the material to run live (YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams).
- Confirm you have permission to show the property and any identifiable occupants, where applicable. The required permissions can depend on the property and jurisdiction; confirm them with the owner and relevant professionals.
- Check music, stock footage, narration, photographs, logos, and clips in addition to the recorded walkthrough.
- Do not assume that buying, licensing, or crediting a track automatically prevents a live interruption. Confirm any required Content ID allowlisting with the rights holder.
Troubleshoot common failures

No. YouTube may not archive streams longer than 12 hours; keep a separate recording if you need the full broadcast.
