Use YouTube Shopping to tag and pin an eligible product so viewers can open its shopping listing. If you need MRP and the current offer price displayed together throughout the stream, add your own on-screen graphic: YouTube’s available help pages do not promise a combined MRP-and-offer-price display or document a native recurring price-loop control. Confirm the numbers and terms with the retailer before going live, and keep any graphic current.
Choose how viewers will see the product and price
There are two complementary options: YouTube’s native shopping controls and a creator-made stream graphic. Native shopping gives viewers a way to open the tagged product listing; a graphic can make both MRP and the offer price visible in the video itself.
| Option | Who controls the displayed information | What viewers can do | MRP and offer price together? |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube product tagging and pinning | The retailer supplies product information, which can change. YouTube’s documentation does not establish that creators can directly edit how prices appear. | Eligible viewers can open the Shopping control or pinned product and may be shown a preview or sent to the retailer. | Not guaranteed across YouTube surfaces; the help pages say product surfaces can show prices but do not promise both amounts together. |
| Creator-made overlay or lower-third | The creator controls the graphic and must check its accuracy against the seller’s current offer. | Viewers see the amounts on the stream; a graphic alone is not a retailer checkout link. | Yes, if the creator designs it that way and keeps it synchronized with the current offer. |
YouTube says a product shelf beside or below eligible videos and live streams can show products and prices. Selecting an item may show a preview or redirect to the official retailer. For availability, pricing, and purchase terms, YouTube directs viewers to the retailer. See YouTube’s explanation of shopping on YouTube.
Set up YouTube’s native product display
- Check eligibility and product availability. In YouTube Studio or the live-stream workflow, look for the shopping or product-tagging controls and select the product you feature. Product visibility depends on creator eligibility, content restrictions, region, and delivery availability. YouTube’s live-shopping guidance is at Tag products in your live stream.
- Pin the featured product. Select the product to feature and use YouTube’s pin control where available. Viewers can use the Shopping control to see tagged products, and a pinned product can draw attention to the item being discussed.
- Finalize changes in advance. YouTube says live changes may not appear for some viewers and recommends making changes at least 30 minutes before the stream for the best viewer experience. Avoid relying on a last-second product reorder or tag update.
- Check what a viewer actually sees. Preview the stream and shopping controls where possible, and verify that the product opens the intended retailer listing. Do not assume every viewer will see the same shelf, button, price, or delivery option.
YouTube notes that product tags may be hidden for content with claimed material, content marked Made for Kids, content with limited monetization, paid content, or content blocked for ads. Product visibility also varies with regional and delivery eligibility.

Add a recurring MRP-and-offer graphic
If the on-screen video itself must show both amounts, create a separate overlay or lower-third in your stream graphics workflow. The reviewed YouTube documentation describes product tagging and pinning, not a native control that automatically loops an MRP/offer graphic.
- Verify the current offer with the seller. Check the product listing or obtain confirmation from the retailer for the exact MRP, offer price, offer period, stock status, and applicable terms before preparing the graphic.
- Make the labels unambiguous. Identify the amounts as “MRP” and “Offer price.” Include conditions that materially affect the offer, such as an end date or eligibility requirement, when applicable. Do not imply that the offer is universal if it depends on a seller, location, or other terms.
- Place and preview the graphic. Use your chosen streaming software’s overlay workflow, then check that both amounts are readable and do not cover important content or YouTube controls. This is a creator-side graphics task, not a YouTube Shopping price setting.
- Plan how it will be updated or stopped. Before the live, know how to replace or remove the graphic if the offer expires, price changes, or availability shifts. A looping promotion should not continue to display a claim that the retailer no longer honors.
- Keep the listing and graphic aligned. Compare the overlay with the retailer’s live listing before starting and whenever you update the offer. The retailer’s product information and purchase terms can change; viewers should rely on the retailer for current availability and checkout terms.
Check India-specific MRP and e-commerce requirements
For an India-facing sale, review the rules that apply to the packaged product, seller, platform, and transaction rather than assuming every creator-led livestream has the same legal treatment. The Department of Consumer Affairs’ Legal Metrology resources identify the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 and describe retail sale price declaration in MRP form for covered packaged commodities. Government material also describes MRP declarations in Indian currency inclusive of taxes and e-commerce display obligations.

The Department’s e-commerce advisory addresses information supplied by sellers to marketplace platforms under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020. These official materials are reasons to check current requirements, not a determination that a particular YouTube Live arrangement falls into one legal category. For a specific sale, consult the latest rules and guidance relevant to the seller and sales path.
Troubleshoot missing or inconsistent prices
- The product tag or Shopping control is missing: Check creator and product eligibility, content restrictions, region, and delivery availability. YouTube may hide tags in some content contexts.
- The pinned product does not appear to every viewer: YouTube says live changes may not appear for some viewers. Finalize tags and ordering ahead of time, ideally at least 30 minutes before the stream, and check from an eligible viewer context.
- The product page shows a different price: Product information is retailer-supplied and may change. Confirm the live offer with the retailer, then update or remove the graphic rather than relying on an old screenshot or scheduled creative.
- Viewers see a product price but not MRP beside it: YouTube’s documentation does not guarantee that every product surface displays MRP and offer price together. Use a clearly labeled creator-made graphic if both numbers must be visible on-stream.
- The offer is no longer valid or stock changes: Pause or remove the promotion until the graphic and retailer terms match. Do not leave a stale loop running.
