Keep the displayed price and its tax wording together: if the advertised amount genuinely includes applicable taxes, label it “Price inclusive of applicable taxes.” Do not call that same amount tax-inclusive and then add GST to it at checkout. If delivery or another charge is separate, disclose it clearly. For a prerecorded promo loop, send the video through a YouTube Live encoder, preview and test it in Live Control Room, then monitor the stream.
How to show GST-inclusive prices in an Indian store’s YouTube Live promo loop
Use a clear, accurate card such as ₹[amount] — inclusive of applicable taxes only when that statement is true for the offer. Keep the amount and qualifier visible together in each appearance of the offer, so viewers do not see the price without its context. If delivery, convenience, or another charge is additional, disclose that separately and prominently—for example, “Delivery charge shown separately.”
This is practical presentation guidance, not a prescribed screen layout. The cited rules and regulator materials do not specify font size, screen dimensions, or how many seconds a price card must remain visible.

Can you add GST after displaying a tax-inclusive price?
Do not describe a price as inclusive of applicable taxes and then add GST to that same represented price. In a 26 September 2025 enforcement announcement, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) said that FirstCry’s display of “MRP inclusive of all taxes” followed by GST at checkout misled consumers. The authority directed the company to show original and discounted prices inclusive of all taxes and to disclose additional charges, such as shipping or convenience fees, prominently. This was a specific e-commerce enforcement case, not a ruling that settles every kind of in-store, service, or custom-product price.

The CCPA announcement also stated a ₹2,00,000 penalty in that matter. Its example said an advertised 27% discount worked out to an effective 18.2% discount after GST was applied. Those figures describe that case; they are not a general GST rate or a typical discount outcome. Read the PIB announcement of the CCPA action.
How packaged-goods MRP affects the wording
For pre-packaged commodities, Department of Consumer Affairs material describes MRP as inclusive of all taxes. A 2017 PIB explanation of the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 likewise describes MRP as inclusive of all taxes and gives the declaration form “MRP Rs….. Inclusive of all taxes.” If the product has a printed MRP, display it consistently with that MRP and the applicable rules.

Prepare and run the prerecorded promo as a YouTube Live stream
A prerecorded promotional sequence can be sent as a live feed using an encoder-based workflow. YouTube’s encoder documentation includes AJA HELO Plus as an example of a device with a function to schedule prerecorded media and stream it directly to YouTube Live; that is an example capability, not a recommendation to purchase that device.
- Prepare the promo video. Assemble and review the sequence before broadcast. Check that each price and its qualifier appear together, and that any separate delivery or other charge is readable alongside the relevant offer.
- Set up the live event. In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select the stream and follow YouTube’s encoder setup guidance to connect your chosen encoder. Use the current instructions for the encoder and workflow you actually have; compatibility and platform settings can change.
- Set encoder output and check keyframes. Follow YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance for the output settings supported by your encoder and stream. YouTube recommends a 2-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Preview and test before starting. Check the Live Control Room preview and test representative picture and audio. Confirm that the stream is showing the intended promo sequence before making it public.
- Monitor while it is live. Watch stream health and audio/video quality during the broadcast so you can respond if the feed or playback has a problem.

Common price-display and stream problems
- The price says “inclusive,” but GST is added at checkout: revise the offer and checkout treatment so the advertised inclusive amount is not followed by tax added to that same price. Make any genuinely separate charge clear.
- A separate fee appears only after viewers reach checkout: disclose applicable delivery, convenience, or other additional charges prominently with the offer rather than implying they are included in the displayed amount.
- Viewers see a price without its qualifier: keep the amount and tax wording together in the promo card and review the complete loop, not just a still image of the graphic.
- The live preview or stream health is poor: test the encoder output and representative video and audio before the event; monitor stream health and quality during the broadcast and follow the current YouTube and encoder guidance to diagnose the issue.
