To share from a Windows 10 Store app, select or open the content, use that app’s share control, then choose a compatible destination from the flyout. The control’s location varies by app, and some apps do not offer sharing.
How to share from a Windows Store app
-
Open the app and navigate to the page or item you want to share.
-
Select or highlight the specific content if the app requires it. In other cases, opening the relevant page may be enough.
-
Look for the app’s share control. In the Windows 10 workflow described in a 2015 user guide, it may be inside the three-line (hamburger) menu, but it can appear elsewhere. If you do not see it there, check other app menus or the app’s help.

The 2015 guide describes the selected content being passed to the chosen app without leaving the app you are using. Exact controls and behavior are not established for every Windows 10 release, app update, or managed-device configuration, so treat these as documented workflow steps rather than universal interface labels.
Why the Share control or a destination may be missing
-
The control is elsewhere. App developers may place it outside the hamburger menu, so inspect the app’s other menus or help.

Windows 10 sharing is not the Windows 8.1 Share charm
Older Windows 8.1 instructions refer to the “Share charm,” a feature accessed through the Charms interface. That is historical terminology, not the Windows 10 app-level procedure described here. Use the sharing control provided by the Windows 10 app instead of following Charms bar steps.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Check privacy before you share
A share action can send content to the wrong place or make it more widely accessible than intended, depending on the destination’s privacy settings. Verify what you selected, who will receive it, and who can see the result before confirming. This matters especially when a destination is a website or service with audience or visibility controls.

What “compatible” means
At the implementation level, Store apps can act as sources or destinations for shared data. An older programming reference describes possible formats including text, HTML, URIs, bitmaps, files or storage items, RTF, and custom formats. These are examples of formats developers can support—not a guarantee that every app can share or receive each one.
