For a Galaxy SmartTag2, Samsung’s documented sharing path is SmartThings > Life > Find > More > Share this device’s location. Follow the prompts to invite the people you want to share with. They need to accept the invitation in SmartThings while signed in to a Samsung account.
Share a SmartTag2 from SmartThings
- Open the SmartThings app and tap Life.
- Tap Find, then tap More.
- Choose Share this device’s location.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to invite the family member or friend.
Samsung documents this path for Galaxy SmartTag2 and says invited users can help locate the tag after they complete the invitation. The menus can differ by region or app version; if the named path is missing, look for the tag’s sharing control in Find or SmartThings Find, or use the member invitation route below. The SmartTag2-specific path is not established for every SmartTag generation. Samsung’s SmartTag2 guide
Invite someone through SmartThings members
Samsung also documents inviting people to a SmartThings location. This grants membership for the location, rather than for an individual room. Depending on the screen available to you, invitations may be sent to the person’s Samsung-account email address or offered as a QR code.
- In SmartThings, open the location you want to share.
- Open the location’s member-management controls and choose the option to add or invite a member.
- Enter the invitee’s Samsung-account email address, or show the QR code if that option is available.
- Ask the recipient to install SmartThings, sign in to a Samsung account, and accept the invitation.
Samsung’s SmartThings Find instructions also describe a Members’ devices > Invite member route, with an invitation or QR code. Exact labels and available options may differ across Samsung’s regional instructions and app versions. The location owner can remove members; removal prevents that person from controlling devices in that location. What the other person needs for location sharing
For SmartThings Find sharing, Samsung says the shared member must enable location sharing: the tag’s location may be tracked using location data from that member. An invitation by itself does not ensure this location condition is met.
Samsung separately explains that location consent must be enabled on the device being located for Samsung Find to use its location. If consent is disabled on that device, it cannot be turned on remotely. That guidance concerns Samsung Find; do not assume every sharing flow has identical settings or account rules. Samsung also says changes to sharing for child accounts in Samsung Find require parent or guardian authentication or approval. SmartThings Find and Samsung Find are different
Samsung Find is a separate app and service from SmartThings Find. SmartThings Find sharing is based on SmartThings members; Samsung Find sharing is based on Samsung accounts. A SmartTag registered through SmartThings can also appear in Samsung Find’s Items tab, but that does not mean an invitation in one service automatically configures sharing in the other. Samsung says SmartTags must first be registered with SmartThings to use them directly or share them with family through Samsung Find. Its UK guidance also says ringing shared family-account devices is not supported for SmartTags, so sharing should not be treated as a promise of remote ringing. Samsung UK: Samsung Find
