You set up YouTube channel memberships in YouTube Studio under Earn > Memberships, if your channel is eligible. YouTube’s published membership requirements do not identify running a 24/7 stream as a separate disqualifier, but continuous streaming does not guarantee approval: your channel still has to meet YouTube Partner Program (YPP), location, content, and policy requirements.
Check whether your channel qualifies
India is a supported location for channel memberships. YouTube’s lower fan-funding eligibility route lists these thresholds, but meeting them alone does not guarantee access:
- At least 500 subscribers.
- At least three public uploads in the past 90 days.
- Either 3,000 qualified public watch hours on long-form videos in the past 365 days, or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the past 90 days.
You must also be at least 18, accept YouTube’s Commerce Product Module (CPM) or any currently applicable equivalent, and comply with YouTube’s channel and content rules. A channel set as Made for Kids, or one with a significant number of ineligible or Made for Kids videos, may not qualify. Some music channels, including channels under an SRAV contract, may also be ineligible. Check YouTube’s YPP eligibility requirements before planning around a threshold; requirements can change.

The reviewed YouTube membership guidance does not list 24/7 operation itself as a blocker or provide a special eligibility route for always-on channels. YouTube assesses the channel against its normal requirements, so no one can infer approval from a channel’s schedule alone.

Turn on memberships in YouTube Studio
- On a computer, sign in to YouTube Studio.
- In the left-hand menu, select Earn.
- Open the Memberships tab. YouTube says this tab appears only when the channel is eligible.
- Select Get started and follow the on-screen instructions.
- If prompted, review and accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM). You and any multi-channel network (MCN) must accept the module to earn membership revenue.
- Create membership levels and choose perks you can deliver consistently. Review the current policy and settings shown in Studio before publishing them.
Memberships may take up to two days to activate after YPP acceptance while YouTube reviews the channel. YouTube describes this as a possible processing time, not a guaranteed deadline. See YouTube’s instructions for turning channel memberships on or off.
Choose levels and perks an always-on channel can sustain
Membership levels can offer different benefits. YouTube-supported options include badges, emoji, members-only content, and members-only live streams. Pick only benefits that are available to your channel and that you can actually maintain for paying members; a continuous public stream does not by itself define a separate membership setup.

YouTube’s memberships policy prohibits these perks:
- Downloads of content, including music, that is already available on YouTube.
- In-person one-to-one meetings.
- Randomly awarded benefits, including competitions, lotteries, or sweepstakes.
- Perks marketed or directed at children, likely to attract children, or encouraging children to ask a parent to join.
Membership content and live chats remain subject to applicable YouTube policies. Read the current membership setup and policy guidance when deciding what to promise.

Set India prices and understand recurring payments
YouTube’s India pricing page lists a schedule updated from May 2025 that is rolling out gradually. It shows examples including ₹59 for the USD $0.99 tier, ₹299 for the USD $4.99 tier, and ₹479 for the USD $7.99 tier. These are examples from YouTube’s listed schedule, not a promise that every creator will see those exact options: legacy prices are listed separately, and the price a member sees can depend on when they join. When setting up memberships, use the options and country or region price displayed in Studio, and check YouTube’s India membership pricing page.
For recurring payments in India, a member may need to verify or re-enter payment details under RBI eMandate requirements to keep a membership active. A member’s bank may not support recurring payments. YouTube says creators receive 70% of membership revenue recognised by Google after local sales tax and other fees are deducted; that is not 70% of the displayed tier price before deductions. Promote memberships and troubleshoot a missing Join button
Share the Join link
Viewers can use the channel’s Join button or its /join URL. You can promote perks that suit your audience, but make sure any promised access or interaction is practical to deliver on an ongoing schedule. Membership gifts are an optional feature during live streams or Premieres; eligible viewers must opt in to receive gifted memberships.

If viewers cannot see Join
- Confirm memberships are enabled: Check the Memberships area in Studio.
- Check location support: The feature must be available both where your channel is based and where the viewer is located.
- Check the video: Some music-partner-claimed watch pages are not eligible to show Join.
- Try another route: Ask the viewer to visit your channel homepage or try on a computer.
