You can use YouTube Live Redirect to send viewers from your livestream to a scheduled Premiere or, with the receiving channel’s permission, another channel’s livestream. In YouTube Studio, edit the source event and choose the destination under Customization > Redirect. The sending channel needs more than 1,000 subscribers, no Community Guidelines strikes, and access to livestreaming; for Indian devotional channels, YouTube’s reviewed instructions do not specify a separate India-only eligibility rule.
Before you set up Live Redirect
Check the sending channel’s eligibility
- YouTube’s Live Redirect instructions require the channel sending viewers to have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- General livestream access is also required: YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had a livestreaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. These are separate checks from Live Redirect eligibility.
- YouTube’s live-stream overview lists Live Redirect for horizontal livestreams, not the vertical live feed. Plan the source event in horizontal format if you intend to use the feature.
- The reviewed YouTube instructions do not state a different threshold for Indian channels. Apply the same documented eligibility checks regardless of the channel’s location.
See YouTube’s current How to use YouTube Live Redirect and Get started with live streaming instructions for eligibility and access details.
Choose and prepare the destination
You can redirect to a Premiere or another channel’s livestream. If you choose a Premiere, create and schedule it first: YouTube’s guidance is, “Set up your Premiere before setting up your live stream.” For a handoff to another channel’s livestream, coordinate the timing and ask that channel to allow the redirect in its Studio settings before configuring your source event.
Set up a redirect from your livestream
- Open the source event. In YouTube Studio, select Content, then open the Live tab.
- Edit the livestream. Hover over the source livestream and click Edit.
- Open redirect settings. Select Customization. Under Redirect, click Add.
- Select the destination. Choose the Premiere you prepared, or search for the other channel’s livestream. You can only direct viewers to another channel’s livestream if that channel permits it.
- Save and check the event details. Confirm that the intended destination is selected. If the source is a Premiere rather than a livestream, the documented route is also Content > Live, edit the Premiere, then Customization > Redirect > Add.
- End the source event when ready. YouTube displays a confirmation that viewers will be redirected. YouTube says autoplay moves viewers to the selected destination; let your audience know there may be a short pause while the page reloads.
Allow another channel to redirect viewers to your livestream
If you are receiving viewers from a collaborator, set the receiving channel’s permission in YouTube Studio under Settings > Community. YouTube describes three choices: allow subscribed channels (subject to the subscription-privacy condition), allow all channels, or allow specific approved channels. You can manually add up to 100 channels. Choose the policy that fits your collaboration and moderation preferences, then save the setting.

For a cross-channel devotional program, agree on the event and handoff timing in advance, and confirm that the receiving channel’s permission is active. The TeamYouTube announcement about the feature, published on May 3, 2022, explains its purpose and says channels of any size can receive redirects; use the current Help instructions for the present setup and eligibility details: TeamYouTube announcement.
Plan a devotional-program handoff
A practical use is to end a live devotional music session by directing viewers to a scheduled Premiere, or to hand viewers to a collaborator’s live devotional program. These are examples of the documented destination types, not a guarantee of more viewers, retention, or revenue. Tell viewers before ending the source stream that the destination should open automatically and that they may need to wait a few seconds for the page to reload.

Or let it run in the cloud
Live Redirect handles the transition between YouTube events; it is not a way to keep a computer-based live stream running. If your devotional channel also wants uploaded recordings to play as a continuous YouTube livestream, StreamNeo runs that playback from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home, it streams uploaded files at the quality you made them up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. It streams to YouTube and plays uploaded videos; it does not go live from a camera. Start the free first day with StreamNeo.
