To set up your YouTube merch shelf, first make sure your channel is eligible for YouTube Shopping, then connect your official store in YouTube Studio under Earn > Shopping. Once the store is linked, wait for YouTube to review its products, choose and order eligible items, and save your selection. YouTube calls its shopping features a way for eligible creators to showcase products and official branded merchandise; the exact display can vary by video, viewer location, and device.
Before you set up the YouTube merch shelf
Check whether your channel is eligible
YouTube Shopping is available to eligible creators. YouTube’s overview says a channel must be in the YouTube Partner Program and meet the subscriber threshold that applies to it, or be an Official Artist Channel. Audience and policy requirements also apply. The overview does not establish one subscriber number for every channel, so check YouTube’s current eligibility guidance rather than relying on a universal threshold. If Earn > Shopping is missing in Studio, check eligibility before troubleshooting the store connection. YouTube only shows the Shopping tab to eligible channels.
Choose a supported store or retailer
You need an official store or merch retailer that YouTube supports. Shopify is one documented option, not a requirement. Before connecting a platform, confirm that it supports your country, can provide the required product feed, and is ready to handle your products, orders, and local shipping. YouTube says the store platform or retailer—not Google—is responsible for merch sales and local shipping support.

Connect your merch store in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio on desktop. Sign in to the account for the channel you want to connect.
- Go to Earn > Shopping. If you have not connected a store, select Get Started. To add another store, select Connect new store.
- Follow the prompts to link your official store. YouTube allows multiple stores to be connected. Confirm you are linking the store associated with the channel’s official merchandise.
- Allow time for product review. YouTube reviews connected products for YouTube and Google Merchant Center policy compliance. The review typically takes a few business days, but that is an estimate, not a guaranteed turnaround.
A completed store connection does not mean every product is approved. If an item is disapproved or unavailable, ask the store administrator or retailer to check its Merchant Center status and feed. The retailer or platform can submit an appeal for a disapproved listing.
Shopify setup through the Google & YouTube app
If your store is on Shopify, you can use Shopify’s Google & YouTube app as a separate route to connect it. Make sure the Google account used in the app has admin access to the intended YouTube channel.

- Install and open the Google & YouTube app in Shopify.
- Connect the Google account that has admin access to the YouTube channel.
- In the app, select YouTube Shopping > Get Started.
- Choose the correct YouTube channel, accept the terms, and complete the setup prompts.
If setup stalls, verify the connected Google account’s channel permissions and confirm that you selected the intended channel.
Choose and arrange the products on your shelf
After products are reviewed, YouTube may show eligible items automatically. To customize the selection, open YouTube Studio > Earn > Shopping, arrange the products you want, and save. You can select and order up to 30 items for the channel-level arrangement. YouTube also documents an option to return to automatic selection if you prefer its arrangement.

Keep the surfaces distinct when checking the result: YouTube Shopping can include a channel Store tab, product links in descriptions, a shelf beside or below eligible videos or livestreams, and product tagging or a Shopping button. A channel-home product shelf and an individual video’s product shelf are not the same placement. Not every channel can add a product shelf below videos or livestreams; where that surface is unavailable, YouTube points creators to other Shopping surfaces.
Why is my YouTube Shopping shelf not showing?
Work through these checks in order. A connected store can be working correctly even when a particular item, video, viewer, or device does not show a shelf.

- No Shopping tab in Studio: check that the channel meets YouTube Shopping’s current eligibility requirements, including YPP or Official Artist Channel status, the applicable subscriber threshold, audience settings, and policy conditions.
- Store connected, but no products appear: check that at least one item has passed review. Ask the retailer or store administrator to inspect the product feed and Merchant Center policy status; a connection alone does not approve every item.
- Shelf missing on only some content: check whether the video or livestream is marked made for kids, has a copyright claim, has limited or ineligible monetization, or involves ticketing, donations, or Creator Music revenue sharing. These conditions can affect Shopping display.
- A viewer cannot see the shelf: display can depend on the viewer’s country and playback device or browser. Check the feature from another supported context before treating it as a failed store connection.
- Shopify connection does not finish: verify that the Google account connected in the app has admin access to the intended channel, then confirm that the correct channel was selected.
- An individual product is absent or disapproved: ask the store administrator or retailer to review its listing and policy status in Merchant Center. They can submit an appeal when appropriate.
