To get email alerts for new federal contract opportunities, sign in to SAM.gov, save a Contract Opportunities search, then turn on Notify for that saved search. Searching is public, but saving a search and enabling notifications require an account. SAM.gov’s Notify feature applies to saved Contract Opportunities searches—not saved searches across every SAM.gov domain.
Set up an alert for a Contract Opportunities search
- Sign in to SAM.gov. You can search opportunities without signing in, but you need an account to save the search and manage its notifications.
- Search Contract Opportunities. Open Contract Opportunities from the SAM.gov Search menu or go to the Contract Opportunities page. Enter keywords and apply relevant filters. Use Advanced Search if you need more control over the criteria.
- Save the search. On the results page, open Actions and select Save. Give the search a name you will recognize later, then save it. SAM.gov’s saved-search instructions describe this flow.
- Enable notifications. Open Saved Searches from the results page or through Workspace. Find the saved Contract Opportunities search, open its Actions menu, and select Notify.
SAM.gov says that when a new contract opportunity matches a saved search with notifications enabled, you will receive an email containing a link to that saved search. The official notification help article does not specify a delivery schedule, so do not assume the email is immediate or sent on a fixed cadence.
Make the search useful
Alert quality depends on the search you save. Start with terms and filters that reflect the opportunities you want to find; overly broad criteria may produce irrelevant matches, while overly narrow criteria may miss opportunities described differently. SAM.gov supports keyword and filter-based searching, including Advanced Search; see its search help for details on the search interface.
- Use a recognizable saved-search name so you can distinguish it from other searches.
- Review the results before saving to confirm that the selected terms and filters return the kind of opportunities you intend to monitor.
- Keep in mind that the help instructions describe an email when a new match occurs, but do not guarantee that every potentially relevant notice will match your criteria or reach your inbox.
Turn an alert off
Go to Saved Searches, locate the Contract Opportunities search, open its Actions menu, and select Stop Notify. This stops notifications for that saved search; it does not require deleting the search.

Saved-search notifications are not the same as Follow
Notify is attached to a saved Contract Opportunities search. Follow is a separate record-level feature for tracking individual records. SAM.gov’s help describes following contract opportunities, entity records, exclusions, assistance listings, wage determinations, and federal hierarchy records; those Follow options do not mean those other domains’ saved searches can send Notify emails. See the official Follow help for the distinction.
Troubleshooting
You cannot find Save or Notify
Check that you are signed in and working with a Contract Opportunities search. Search access is public, but account features such as saving searches require sign-in, and Notify is limited to saved searches in Contract Opportunities. If the options still do not appear, revisit the search from the Contract Opportunities area and consult SAM.gov’s help resources.

You are not receiving an expected email
Confirm that Notify is enabled for the intended saved search and that the search terms and filters are appropriate. SAM.gov’s help does not establish an alert cadence or promise delivery for every potentially relevant opportunity, so it cannot support a precise timing expectation. If an account or technical issue prevents you from managing the saved search, SAM.gov directs users to self-help and the Federal Service Desk; the service desk is not the channel for questions about a specific contract, opportunity, or agency process.
