Set parental controls separately on each streaming service: use an age or maturity rating to filter a child’s profile, block specific titles where available, and lock adult profiles with a PIN so a child cannot simply switch profiles. The instructions below cover verified Disney+, Netflix and Prime Video controls. Crave’s current settings could not be verified against official guidance, so its menu steps are not included.
What to set up before you start
Think of parental controls as separate safeguards rather than one universal setting. A rating limit filters content on a particular profile; a title block targets a specific show or film; and a profile PIN helps prevent access to an adult profile. These measures work only if the child is using the intended profile and the account credentials remain private.
- Set a suitable content rating on the child’s profile.
- Use individual title restrictions if a service offers them and you need a narrower limit.
- Lock adult profiles and check whether profile creation can be restricted.
- After saving, confirm that each TV, phone or tablet is using the intended profile. Some settings, especially on Prime Video, have device-specific scope.
Disney+: set a profile rating, Junior Mode or a PIN
Disney+ says controls can be managed in a supported web browser or the mobile app. Its Help Centre states, “Users can set content ratings for each profile.” The page, Parental controls on Disney+, is dated 24 June 2026. Labels and availability can vary by platform or region, so follow the current account interface if a label differs.
Choose a content rating
- Open the profile list and choose Edit Profiles.
- Select the child’s profile, then open Parental Controls > Content rating.
- Enter the account password, choose the rating, and save.
Titles rated above the selected limit will not appear while browsing or searching on that profile. Disney+ notes that on-service promotions are an exception to this filtering behavior.

Use Junior Mode and Kid-Proof Exit
Junior Mode provides a simplified interface featuring content suitable for younger viewers. Disney+ also offers Kid-Proof Exit, which requires a child to complete an exit challenge before leaving Junior Mode. These options address the interface and leaving the mode; they are distinct from setting a profile’s content rating.
Lock an adult profile
- In Edit Profiles, select the adult profile.
- Under Parental Controls, choose Profile PIN.
- Verify the account password, set a four-digit PIN, and save it.
Disney+ also provides a profile-creation restriction that requires the account password to create new profiles. Check the account interface for this option if preventing new profiles is important.
Netflix: set maturity ratings, block titles and lock profiles
Netflix provides profile-level maturity settings and individual title restrictions. The current Maturity ratings for TV shows and movies on Netflix help page gives web and app routes. Netflix ratings vary by region; use the labels displayed for the account’s country.

Change a profile’s maturity rating
On the web, open the Netflix Account page, select Profiles, then choose Adjust parental controls for the child’s profile. Verify your identity with the offered email or mobile code, or with the account password; choose the Maturity Rating and save.
In the app, the route is My Netflix > profile name > Manage Profiles > choose profile > Viewing Restrictions > Maturity Rating. Netflix says edits to a Kids profile’s maturity setting must be made in a web browser.
Block a particular movie or show
For a specific title rather than a broader rating limit, use Title Restrictions in the profile’s maturity settings. Netflix’s A Guide to Netflix Parental Controls, by Megan Sayers and published 23 March 2022, describes this option. The guide also says a PIN can be required to add new profiles; because those instructions are older than Netflix’s current help page, confirm that the toggle still appears in your account before relying on it.

Lock an adult profile
Set a four-digit PIN with Netflix’s Profile Lock to make it harder to switch into an adult profile. Keep the account password private as well: Netflix’s 2022 guide warns, “Anyone who knows your Netflix password can change your account settings!”

Prime Video separates purchase restrictions from viewing restrictions. Amazon says purchase restrictions apply across all devices registered to the account, while viewing restrictions apply only on devices selected by the user. Creating a PIN alone does not enable either restriction.
Create or change the account PIN on Android
- In the Prime Video app, choose Profiles > Settings > Permissions > Change Prime Video PIN.
- Enter the Amazon account password, enter a PIN, and save.
These exact steps are from Amazon’s Set up a Prime Video PIN on Android & Android Automotive instructions. Amazon lists separate PIN and restriction help for Android, iOS and web, so menu paths on other devices may differ.

Enable purchase or viewing restrictions
After setting the PIN, go to Profile > Settings > Parental Controls and enable the restrictions you want. For viewing restrictions, select the devices where they should apply, then check that the child’s device is among them. Purchase restrictions apply account-wide across registered devices.
Lock profiles and protect the account PIN
Amazon’s Lock Your Prime Video Profile instructions describe this route: open Your Profiles, choose Edit profile, select the profile, open Manage next to Profile / Account PIN and locks, enter the PIN, turn on Profile lock, and save.

Crave: verify current controls before relying on them
Current official Crave guidance for parental controls was not available to verify here. That means no exact menu path, PIN behavior, profile rating options or device compatibility can be stated reliably. Check Crave’s official Help Centre or the controls shown in the current account interface before assuming a setting exists or applies across devices.
Check the controls on every service and device
Once each service is configured, verify the selected profile on every screen where the child watches. The distinctions that matter most are:
