To broadcast a Hindi internet radio program on YouTube with OBS Studio, first confirm that your channel can go live, then create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, route the program audio into OBS, add a simple visual, and test the complete setup before broadcasting. Hindi does not require special OBS encoder settings; the important choices are the audio signal path, a bitrate your upload connection can sustain, and music rights that cover YouTube livestreaming.
1. Confirm your channel is allowed to livestream
YouTube’s current guidance says a channel must be verified, must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days, and the person livestreaming must be at least 16. Check access before scheduling a show: YouTube’s live-streaming access requirements.
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Create → Go live to open the Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule a stream using an encoder. Set its title, audience and other stream details as appropriate for the program.
- In the stream settings, copy the stream key. Treat it as a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Do not show it on screen, include it in a public post, or share it with people who should not control the broadcast. See YouTube’s stream settings guidance.
2. Build a simple OBS scene
For a radio-first program, the scene can be a station logo, a program title card, or another still image that helps viewers identify what they are hearing. Keep text large enough to read on a phone. OBS layers sources: a source higher in the list appears in front of sources below it. Add an image or text source from the Sources panel, then position and resize it in the preview. A static card is often easier to troubleshoot than animated visuals. If you use a waveform or moving background, include that motion in your rehearsal; it can increase encoding load compared with a still image.

3. Route the radio program audio into OBS
The audio source must be the signal you actually want YouTube viewers to hear. It might be a radio player or broadcast application on the computer, or an external mixer or audio interface. The exact selection and routing depend on your operating system, hardware and OBS version, so check the meters rather than assuming a device is being captured.
- In OBS, open Settings → Audio. Select the correct desktop or application audio path if the program plays on the computer. If it comes from an external mixer or interface, select that device as the relevant input.
- If a presenter will speak, add the presenter’s microphone as a separate input. A microphone is optional for a music-only program or a show whose voice is already mixed into the program feed.
- Play the program and watch the Audio Mixer meters. The intended source should move when sound is playing. If the meters are silent or the wrong device moves, revisit the selected devices and signal path.
- Listen to a rehearsal and confirm the program is audible, at a consistent level, and not clipping. Keep unused audio devices out of the mix so system notifications, room sound or monitoring audio do not unexpectedly go to air.
OBS can capture desktop audio and a microphone by default, but its quick-start guide recommends manually selecting devices if the meters do not move or the wrong sound is captured. If the same computer output reaches OBS by two routes—for example, desktop capture and a separately selected input—mute one route to avoid doubled audio or echo. Monitoring through speakers can also feed sound back into a microphone; headphones help reveal and prevent that problem.

4. Enter the stream key and choose encoder settings
In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter the stream key from the Live Control Room. Use RTMPS if it is available in your setup. Keep the key private even during screen sharing or recording.
YouTube’s encoder settings guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS, H.264/H.265/AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate (CBR), and a recommended two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds). For stereo audio, its advanced recommendations include AAC or MP3, a 44.1 kHz sample rate and 128 kbps audio. These are YouTube recommendations; available choices and labels can vary with encoder and OBS version.

The figures are YouTube’s recommendations for H.264 video, not total upload usage; audio is configured separately. A static station image may be visually simple, but that does not establish a lower official bitrate recommendation. Run a speed test and choose a mode with enough dependable upload capacity for the whole stream, rather than relying on a brief peak. YouTube’s settings page also advises testing at the quality and with the audio and motion representative of the planned broadcast.
5. Rehearse, then start the broadcast
- Before the first live show, record locally in OBS or run a private test stream. Use the same audio sources, scene, transitions and visual motion you intend to use on air.
- Listen to the recording or stream as a viewer. Check for silence, clipping, hum, noise, doubled audio, uneven balance between music and voice, and any audio/video sync issue.
- In the Live Control Room, confirm that YouTube receives the feed and review stream health messages. Resolve warnings before announcing the show.
- When ready, start streaming in OBS and confirm the feed is live in YouTube Studio. Keep the Live Control Room available to monitor health while the program is running.
OBS recommends testing before a first livestream, and YouTube advises monitoring stream health and messages during the event. A local recording is useful for checking the sound, but it does not verify that YouTube is receiving the feed; use a private or otherwise controlled YouTube test when you need to check the full delivery path.

6. Verify music rights before going live
Being allowed to play a song on another radio service or platform does not by itself establish that the rights cover a YouTube livestream. YouTube’s livestream terms say the person providing the live content represents that they have the necessary rights, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public-performance licenses) and other royalty participants.

A match may trigger a warning and placeholder image; if the material remains, YouTube says the stream may be interrupted or terminated. Even a streamer who has a license may need the rights owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist to avoid an interruption. Check permissions for the music and recording, the composition, the territories, live use and any archive or replay with the relevant rights holders or qualified counsel. Do not treat YouTube Creator Music as a general source of tracks for a radio livestream: its usage guidance says Creator Music tracks are for long-form videos, not live streams or Shorts.
7. Troubleshoot common problems
