You can stream a playlist continuously from a Windows PC by connecting OBS Studio to a YouTube encoder stream, adding the playlist as a media source, and keeping the computer and internet connection running. First confirm your channel is eligible and that you have rights to every item in the playlist. Then test the complete scene and plan for a key limitation: a YouTube live stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured as an archive.
The steps below apply to creators in India as well as elsewhere; the official OBS and YouTube setup guidance does not establish a separate India-only encoder configuration.
Before you set up the stream
Check YouTube live eligibility
YouTube’s current eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have a live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days, and the person livestreaming must be at least 16 years old. Check the channel’s status in YouTube Studio before spending time configuring OBS. YouTube: Get started with live streaming.
Confirm rights and monetization expectations
You need the necessary rights to livestream every video, image, and audio track in the playlist, including music. YouTube’s terms require compliance with applicable laws and the rights needed to exploit the livestream content. A video being available online or already uploaded to your channel does not by itself establish that you may rebroadcast it live. YouTube Terms of Service.

Monetization is a separate question from whether OBS can play the files. YouTube applies its monetization policies to livestreams and expects original, authentic content; repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible. Do not assume that looping a playlist qualifies for monetization. YouTube channel monetization policies.
Create the YouTube encoder stream

Open YouTube Studio, select Create, then Go live to enter the Live Control Room.

Create or select a stream and choose the encoder workflow. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.

Keep the stream key private: it works like a password for sending video to your channel. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio before continuing.

If you schedule the broadcast, use the Live Control Room preview to verify the incoming picture and sound before choosing Go live. Starting the encoder creates the watch page; follow the Live Control Room prompts for the scheduled stream. See YouTube: Set up your encoder for live streaming.
Configure OBS on Windows
Run the initial configuration

Install and open OBS Studio. Choose Tools → Auto-Configuration Wizard and follow the prompts. The wizard helps select settings based on your computer and network, but you still need to test the resulting stream.

Create a scene for the broadcast. In the Sources panel, select + and add a Media Source. Enable looping in that source’s properties and select the video file you want OBS to play. If the playlist contains several files, add and arrange sources as needed, or use a playlist-capable media source or plugin you trust; OBS’s basic Media Source is for playing media files, so verify actual transitions between files before relying on it continuously.

Add any permitted artwork, labels, or other visual sources to the same scene. Keep the layout simple enough for your PC to render continuously.

Watch the Audio Mixer while the media plays. If the meters do not move, check the source’s audio settings and your selected audio devices. Confirm the stream has audible sound without clipping or unwanted desktop audio.
OBS lists Windows 10 or Windows 11 and a DirectX 10.1-compatible GPU among its basic Windows requirements, but compatible hardware does not guarantee a particular stream will run reliably. CPU and GPU demands depend on the encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. Hardware encoding can reduce CPU work by using specialized GPU components, though its suitability depends on the machine and quality target. Connect OBS to YouTube

In OBS, open Settings → Stream.

Choose YouTube as the service, then enter or paste the server URL and stream key from the YouTube Live Control Room. Depending on the OBS service selection and interface version, the server may be selected automatically; use YouTube’s displayed stream URL if OBS asks for it.

Select Apply and OK. Do not share screenshots or recordings that reveal the stream key.

Choose settings that fit your PC and upload connection
There is no responsible universal bitrate or resolution for every Windows PC or Indian internet connection. Choose a target your encoder can sustain, then test it with the actual motion and audio in your playlist. Higher resolution and frame rate require more encoding and upload capacity; OBS notes that 60 FPS can be more demanding than 30 FPS.

YouTube’s current encoder settings for live streaming specify H.264, CBR, a recommended 2-second keyframe interval (maximum 4 seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. Its live streaming tips recommend testing and monitoring stream health, and advise upload headroom because network disruptions can interrupt delivery.

Start the media source and confirm the intended video appears in the OBS preview. Let it play long enough to check that the playlist advances or loops as expected.

Check the Audio Mixer meters and listen to the output. Ensure there is no unexpected silence, doubled audio, or unintended microphone or desktop sound.

Use Start Streaming in OBS and check the YouTube Live Control Room preview and stream-health indicator. Look for dropped frames, connection warnings, and audio/video problems.

If you need a local backup, enable recording and confirm the recording file is being created and growing on a drive with adequate free space.

Test reconnect behavior rather than assuming it works. OBS provides automatic reconnect options in its Advanced settings; treat them as a recovery aid, not a promise that every interruption will be recovered without viewer impact.
OBS says: “We strongly encourage running a test for a few minutes to make sure that there are no issues, rather than just jumping in to your first stream or recording.” Read the OBS Quick Start Guide.
Plan for archives, monitoring, and interruptions
Do not rely on YouTube to archive a 24-hour broadcast
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Its help page states: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” If you need a replay, schedule shorter live sessions and make a local recording backup rather than relying on one uninterrupted 24/7 archive. Account for failures a home setup cannot prevent
A continuous OBS stream requires the PC, encoder, media source, power, storage, and internet connection to remain usable. A dropped connection, a frozen or exhausted playlist, a full recording drive, an OBS failure, or a power interruption can stop or degrade the broadcast. Arrange a person or monitoring process to check stream health and local recordings, and decide who can restart OBS or the stream when necessary. Official OBS and YouTube guidance does not certify a Windows PC and one internet connection as a high-availability broadcast system.

Common problems and fixes

| Stream health reports unstable connection or dropped frames | Upload capacity is insufficient or fluctuating, or the connection is disrupted | Reduce the chosen bitrate or output demand, pause other uploads, test the connection, and maintain upload headroom. Check whether the issue recurs during a representative test. |
| Video stutters while OBS is overloaded | The selected resolution, FPS, encoder, or scene exceeds available PC resources | Lower resolution or frame rate, simplify the scene, or try an available hardware encoder. Re-test rather than assuming compatible minimum hardware is adequate. |
| There is no sound | The media source is muted, the wrong audio device is selected, or the file has no usable audio | Check the source properties and Audio Mixer meters, then listen to a test stream from the viewer side. |
| The broadcast stops after a network or power interruption | OBS or the PC lost its connection or power | Check OBS’s reconnect configuration, restore the connection or power, and confirm the encoder is sending again in YouTube Studio. Reconnect settings do not guarantee uninterrupted delivery. |
