Matt’s Flights lets you choose departure regions and receive flight-deal emails; the cited site does not document alerts for a specific origin-and-destination route. For a route you already know you want to fly, set up a separate tracker in Google Flights. The two services solve different problems: regional deal discovery versus monitoring a chosen route or itinerary.
What Matt’s Flights alerts can—and can’t—be set to track
Matt’s Flights describes a regional email alert service: choose the region or regions you want to depart from, then watch your inbox for deals. Its homepage does not describe a way to specify an exact city-pair route, such as Boston to Denver. Matt’s Flights’ homepage also says the company was founded in 2017 and has helped millions of people save tens of millions of dollars, but those are the company’s own claims and the page does not provide a methodology.
To use Matt’s Flights, select the departure region or regions that include the airports you use and monitor the email account you want to receive deal alerts at. The cited homepage does not establish the current signup requirements or document more detailed route filters, so don’t assume that choosing a region creates an alert for one particular destination.

Google Flights is the better fit when you have a destination in mind. Google’s current help instructions allow tracking either a searched route or a particular selected flight, using specific dates or, where available, flexible dates.

What to expect from Google’s price emails
Google says it can email updates when the price for a tracked flight or route changes significantly. For an Any dates tracker, Google says it emails when the route’s minimum price drops significantly over a month; if there is no sufficiently large drop, it sends regular emails with the best available prices. These notices are updates, not a promise that a fare will still be available when you open the email.
To review alerts, open Google Flights’ Tracked Flights area. There you can review saved routes, toggle tracking emails, or remove a route or selected-flight tracker.

Which alert should you use?
| Your goal | Use | What it monitors |
|---|---|---|
| You’re open to destinations as long as the deal departs from an area you can reach. | Matt’s Flights | Deal emails based on selected departure regions; exact route controls are not documented on its cited homepage. |
| You know the destination and want to watch a city-pair route. | Google Flights | A route with selected dates, or with Any dates when available. |
| You want to watch one specific flight combination. | Google Flights | A selected itinerary after you enable tracking for that flight. |
A 2023 Matt’s Flights guide discusses Google Flights filters such as stops, airline, times, and bags, but Google’s current help page is the better reference for the tracking workflow and notification behavior. The tools’ alert controls should not be treated as equivalent: one is described in terms of departure regions, the other in terms of routes and selected flights.
