To get free alerts for a product, use Google Shopping or Chrome’s price-tracking features where available, Amazon’s price history for items sold on Amazon, or an Amazon-focused tracker such as CamelCamelCamel or Keepa. Pick the tool that covers the store you plan to use, set a target based on what you would actually pay, and compare the same product variant and checkout total before buying. No tracker guarantees that it includes every offer, coupon, shipping charge, or variant.
How do I set up free price alerts and track deals?
Start with the retailer or shopping surface where you found the item. Google Shopping and Chrome tracking work across product listings in supported countries; Amazon’s built-in history and the external services here focus on Amazon listings. Availability and notification options differ, so check the details below before relying on an alert.
- Find the exact product and variant you want, such as the right size, color, or model.
- Choose a tracker that covers that store and is available in your country.
- Set a target price you would be willing to pay, if the service offers one.
- Enable the needed notifications, account settings, or browser permissions.
- When an alert arrives, check the current listing and final checkout price, including shipping and any coupon.

These tools do not all cover the same merchants or represent coupons, shipping, variants, or every offer. The cited official sources do not establish a controlled comparison of alert speed or accuracy, so there is no evidence-based universal winner.
Set a Google Shopping alert
Google Shopping Help lists availability in the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, and India. Features can vary by device or Google surface.

- Sign in to the Google Account where you want to receive notices.
- Search for the exact product or category and open or scroll to its product card.
- Choose Track price. Select a size or color if prompted.
- Optionally set a target price, then tap OK.
- Make sure notifications are enabled if you want alerts. Google says a qualifying drop below your target can trigger a push notification and email.
To stop tracking, remove the item from Saved items or unsubscribe from an update email or notification. Google’s help page cautions: “Prices are dynamic and subject to change.” Check the live listing rather than treating an alert as a guaranteed offer.
Track prices in Chrome on Android
Check the prerequisites and privacy trade-off
Google’s Android help page says this feature requires living in Australia, Canada, India, Japan, or the US; signing in to Chrome with a Google Account; opting into sync for tabs and history; and enabling Make searches and browsing better. That setting and history sync have privacy implications. Review the account settings before turning them on solely for price tracking.

Start tracking and manage alerts
- Open the product page in Chrome on Android.
- Tap the price insight in the address bar and select Track, or open More > Track prices.
- Find tracked items at More > Bookmarks > Tracked products.
- To adjust notices, open More > Settings > Google services > Get price tracking notifications, then configure mobile price-drop alerts or email.
Chrome says products can still be tracked when notifications are off; tracking and notification delivery are separate controls.

Check price history on Amazon
Amazon’s article, updated June 24, 2026, describes selecting Price history beside the price on an eligible product detail page, or using the Alexa for Shopping icon and asking about the item’s history. It describes 30-, 90-, and 365-day views. The article says price history was available to customers in the US, UK, Canada, and India, while 365-day history was rolling out in the US, UK, and India. Because that is rollout information, check the live product page for current availability.

Amazon reported that more than 50 million customers had checked price history since its 2024 launch, and that the average customer checked it three times per month. Those are Amazon’s own usage figures, not independent measurements of savings or effectiveness.
Set an Amazon watch with CamelCamelCamel
- Copy the Amazon product URL and paste it into CamelCamelCamel’s search field.
- Choose the price type, usually Amazon, from the displayed options.
- Click the displayed -$0.01 link and select Start Tracking.
- Choose an alert threshold that matches your budget rather than relying on the displayed quick-start default.
CamelCamelCamel’s quick-start instructions say it emails when the tracked price drops. A one-cent threshold may be too low to be useful if your real goal is to buy only below a particular budget; set a meaningful target when configuring the watch.

Use Keepa for Amazon price charts and alerts
Keepa’s official site describes Amazon price-history charts and price-drop alerts. Its Chrome listing describes watches for a target price or return to stock, and says tracking can start without an account. For the current setup sequence, use Keepa’s official site and its live browser listing rather than relying on unverified menu steps.

The Keepa Chrome listing also says eBay links in its Keepa Box route through eBay’s affiliate program. That describes Keepa’s link routing, not whether a particular user or publisher qualifies for any affiliate program.

How to tell whether a price drop is a real deal
- Compare history, not just the alert. A current price may be lower than yesterday but still higher than a recent typical price. Use the history view available for that listing.
- Match the exact item. Confirm that the chart or tracked product is for the same size, color, model, seller, and condition you intend to buy.
- Check the final total. Review shipping, taxes, coupons, and any checkout conditions on the merchant’s live page; a tracker may not include all of them.
- Use a personal target. Decide what the item is worth to you before the alert arrives. A discount label alone does not establish that the purchase is good value.
- Act on the live listing. Alerts are not a promise that an offer remains available when opened.
Troubleshoot missing or unhelpful alerts
No tracking button or price insight appears
- Check whether the feature is available in your country and on the device or Google surface you are using.
- For Chrome on Android, confirm sign-in, tab and history sync, and the required browsing setting.
- For Google Shopping, try opening the product card while signed in to the account that should track it.
The item is tracked but no notification arrives
- Confirm that notifications are enabled for the relevant service and account.
- In Chrome, inspect More > Settings > Google services > Get price tracking notifications; tracking can remain active while notices are off.
- For a target-based alert, verify that the current price meets the configured threshold and check the live listing; these services do not promise instantaneous alerts.
The alert seems to refer to the wrong deal
- Open the tracked item and verify its variant and seller against the product you meant to watch.
- Compare the live checkout total, including shipping and coupons, before deciding that the drop is meaningful.
