Battlefield 6 cross-play is enabled by default on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. To play with someone on another platform, add them through EA Connect. To carry supported rank, unlocks, and Battle Pass rewards between platforms, use the same EA Account on each one. Cross-progression does not establish that a game purchase or every entitlement transfers between storefronts.
What cross-play and cross-progression mean in Battlefield 6
Cross-play lets you play with people on supported platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is on by default. EA says console matchmaking prioritizes players on the same console and may include PC players if the console pool is too small. EA’s Battlefield 6 cross-play guide describes this matchmaking behavior.
Cross-progression means supported game progress can continue across platforms through your EA Account. The official PlayStation Battlefield 6 FAQ says: “Yes, your rank, unlocks and Battle Pass rewards carry over across all supported platforms via your EA Account.” This is progress continuity—not a promise that every setting, purchase, game license, or platform entitlement carries over.

EA requires an EA Account to play Battlefield 6 and says progress is stored through that account. Choose the account where you want progress to remain before launching the game. If you played the Battlefield 6 Beta or Battlefield 2042 Road to Battlefield 6, EA advises using that same EA Account.

- Sign in to the intended EA Account.
- Open the EA Account settings and go to Connections to check whether your PlayStation, Xbox, or Steam account is listed.
- If a platform account is missing, follow EA’s instructions to connect it under Connected Accounts. EA says accounts created with the same email may connect automatically when the game loads on console, but verify that the platform appears in Connections.
- Repeat the check for each platform account you plan to use.
EA recommends linking an account you expect to keep long-term. Switching account links is limited to three times in a rolling year. Before unlinking an old or expired account, review EA’s account-linking guidance and try to recover the original account if possible; do not assume progress or purchases can be moved to a different EA Account.
Add a friend on another platform
- Open Battlefield 6 and launch EA Connect: press R2 on PlayStation, RT on Xbox, or Tab on PC.
- Choose Search Accounts and enter your friend’s EA ID or platform ID.
- Select the matching account and choose Add Friend.
- Have your friend accept the request in Friend Requests.
- When they appear in EA Connect’s Friends list, invite them to your group.
These controls and steps are described in EA’s cross-play guide.

Turn cross-play off on PlayStation or Xbox
EA says the cross-play toggle is available on PlayStation and Xbox. You cannot change it while in a party, on a server, or after matchmaking has started.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

- Open the gear or settings menu.
- Go to System > Configuration > Cross-play and switch the setting off.
With cross-play off, matchmaking is limited to players on the same platform. EA’s guide does not describe a corresponding PC opt-out setting.

Check game access separately from progress
Using the same EA Account supports carrying over the rank, unlocks, and Battle Pass rewards confirmed by PlayStation’s official Battlefield 6 FAQ. The cited guidance does not establish that buying the game on one storefront gives you a license on another. Check game ownership, platform subscriptions, and storefront entitlements separately for each platform; the PlayStation product page says PS Plus is required for online play on PS5.
On PC, Steam players do not need the EA app to play Battlefield 6, but they still need an EA Account. Players who purchased through Epic Games Store and EA Play Pro members need the EA app, according to EA’s Battlefield 6 account linking and access guide.
