To accept credit card tips during a livestream, set up a creator tipping page with a payment provider, then add its link where viewers can find it. For Streamlabs, the dedicated credit-card setup guide says to connect a PayPal Business account in your tip settings. If you are collecting money for an eligible nonprofit rather than for yourself, use YouTube Giving instead: it is a separate fundraiser flow with different eligibility and payment rules.
First decide who receives the money
A creator tip is a payment to you. A nonprofit fundraiser sends donations to an eligible nonprofit through YouTube Giving. Do not label a personal tip as charitable or imply that it is tax-deductible. The payment route, eligibility, and where viewers see the option differ between these two purposes.
- For personal tips: use a tipping page such as Streamlabs and connect a payment method available to your account.
- For an eligible nonprofit: check YouTube Giving in YouTube Studio and attach a fundraiser to the relevant video or livestream.
Set up a Streamlabs tip page for card payments
Streamlabs’ dedicated credit-card guide says to connect PayPal Business to Streamlabs tip settings. Its separate tipping guide also describes PayPal Standard, but says that Standard accepts PayPal only; Business is the option it describes for credit cards and, in the US, Venmo. Payment methods depend on country and account availability, so use the choices shown in your current dashboard.
- Sign in to Streamlabs and open Tipping. From the dashboard, select Tipping and choose the available payment connection. For card tipping, Streamlabs’ dedicated guide specifies PayPal Business.
- Connect and complete provider onboarding. Sign in to PayPal when prompted and follow its account setup or verification steps. Payment providers may request business, identity, or banking information; requirements depend on the provider and your jurisdiction.
- Configure the tip page. Set the currency, minimum tip, suggested amounts, and page design as appropriate, then save. Copy the resulting tip-page URL.
- Make the link easy to find. Add it to your Twitch or Kick channel panels, or to your YouTube channel information and livestream descriptions. Open the public page as a viewer to confirm that the link works and the page shows the intended payment options.
- Check the payment flow before promoting it. Confirm that the provider account is active and that the available methods suit your location. Do not assume every viewer will see or be able to use the same checkout options.
Streamlabs says tip payments are processed through PayPal from donor to creator rather than being held by Streamlabs. PayPal may sometimes require the account owner to manually accept a payment. See Streamlabs’ PayPal tipping setup guide and credit-card setup article.

Understand the payment option, fees, and privacy
PayPal Business through Streamlabs
Streamlabs says it does not take a cut of credit-card tips and that its tip page is free; payment processing fees still apply under the provider’s terms. PayPal’s availability and onboarding rules vary by country. PayPal or card providers may show merchant information on a donor’s statement. Streamlabs suggests using a PO box or business address rather than a personal address, but that cannot guarantee what every bank will display.
Streamlabs’ separate Stripe card option
Streamlabs also documents a separate Stripe tipping option. Its FAQ, dated October 20, 2025, lists a standard card-processing fee of 2.9% plus US$0.30, varying by streamer and donor country, and a 2% currency-exchange fee when the donor pays in a currency other than the onboarding currency. These figures are not universal guarantees; check the current checkout and processor terms.

Use YouTube Giving for an eligible nonprofit
YouTube Giving is for fundraising for eligible nonprofits, not for receiving personal creator tips. YouTube Help says creator setup requires a channel based in an available location, at least 10,000 subscribers, YouTube Partner Program membership, and a channel not designated as made for kids. Regional availability applies, and YouTube notes that some channels may see fundraising outside those criteria; check your own Studio rather than assuming eligibility.
- Check YouTube Studio for fundraiser availability. If your channel and nonprofit are eligible, create or select a fundraiser through YouTube’s Giving tools.
- Attach the fundraiser to the livestream. For donations through live chat, the fundraiser must be attached to the stream and live chat enabled. Eligible streams can show a Donate button in chat; donation activity is visible in Live Control Room.
- Tell viewers what the fundraiser supports. Make clear that the button supports the named nonprofit, not your personal creator account.
When Live Chat Donations are enabled, YouTube turns off Super Chat and Super Stickers on that livestream to avoid confusion. YouTube says 100% of donations to eligible nonprofits go to the nonprofit because YouTube covers credit-card transaction fees; voluntary nonprofit donations are non-refundable. See YouTube Giving FAQs and YouTube’s donor instructions.

Fix common setup problems
- There is no card option in your Streamlabs account: check whether your connected method is PayPal Standard, which Streamlabs describes as PayPal-only. Confirm that PayPal Business or another card option is available for your country and account.
- The tip link is missing or leads to the wrong page: copy the saved tip-page URL again and update each panel, channel-information section, or stream description. Check the result while signed out or in a viewer’s view.
- A viewer cannot pay with a card: available payment methods can differ by location and provider. Check the checkout options shown to that viewer and your provider account status; do not promise a method that is not displayed.
- A payment appears pending: PayPal may require the account owner to accept a payment manually. Review the payment in PayPal before treating it as received.
- A card tip is disputed: follow the processor’s dispute notice and submit requested evidence within its deadline. A chargeback can remove the original payment and may incur the fee described in Streamlabs’ current terms.
- You cannot add a YouTube fundraiser: check the channel’s location, YPP status, subscriber count, made-for-kids designation, and whether Giving is available in your region. YouTube Studio is the practical check because availability may differ from the general criteria.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the livestream itself is a loop of uploaded videos, StreamNeo can keep a YouTube channel live from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. StreamNeo sends the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it also automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly is $9.99 per month. This is a streaming service, not a donation processor, and it streams to YouTube only.
