To add charity donations to a YouTube livestream, first check whether your channel has access to YouTube Giving. Eligible creators can create a fundraiser in YouTube Studio, choose an available nonprofit, attach the fundraiser to a scheduled livestream, and publish it. Viewers can donate once the fundraiser’s start date arrives; donations in live chat also require chat to be enabled.
Who can use YouTube Giving?
YouTube’s stated eligibility requirements are a channel in a supported country or region, at least 10,000 subscribers, membership in the YouTube Partner Program, and a channel that is not designated as made for kids. Supported locations can change. YouTube notes that some channels outside these stated criteria may still have access, so check YouTube Studio’s Giving tab rather than relying on the checklist alone. If you do not see Giving in Studio, your channel may not have access. YouTube’s nonprofit guidance mentions external fundraising sites such as GoFundMe and JustGiving as possible alternatives, but their current terms and availability are not covered here.
Check that the nonprofit is eligible
The nonprofit must be a US-registered 501(c)(3) public charity, be part of Google for Nonprofits, opt in to online fundraising through GuideStar, and comply with YouTube policies. Creators can request a nonprofit that is not listed, where that option is available; YouTube says a request can take up to five business days. How to add a donate button to a YouTube livestream

In YouTube Studio, open Earn, select Giving, choose Get started, and then select Create a fundraiser. You can also set up a fundraiser from the Live Control Room’s Advanced Settings while preparing a stream. See YouTube Giving fundraiser setup.

Choose an eligible nonprofit. If it does not appear, confirm that it meets YouTube’s requirements and use the request option if Studio offers it.

Enter a fundraiser title and description. YouTube suggests setting a goal and duration. For a community fundraiser, you can add collaborators; the goal and duration can be changed later.

Add the scheduled livestream that should display the fundraiser, then select Publish.

Check the fundraiser start date. The Donate button appears after that date. If viewers should donate in live chat, make sure live chat is enabled for the stream.
What viewers need to know about donating
YouTube says 100% of donated money goes to the eligible nonprofit and YouTube pays the transaction fees. Donations are non-refundable. Network for Good distributes the funds; its timing guidance says nonprofits may wait up to two months, and amounts under $10 are disbursed annually. For live chat donations, viewers can choose whether to make their username public alongside the donation. Mobile viewers need to view chat in portrait orientation to see it. You can point viewers to YouTube’s donor guidance for the donation flow and privacy choices.

Check these conditions in order:

The fundraiser exists and the stream is attached. Confirm that the fundraiser was created and that the scheduled livestream was selected before publishing.

The start date has arrived. The button appears only after the fundraiser start date.
