To watch an Aave position, set a ratio alert above the liquidation boundary and choose more than one notification channel when possible. On Aave, a health factor below 1 makes a position eligible for liquidation. A ratio alert can warn that your position is weakening, but it is not the same as an alert for every change in borrowing APR.
What a health factor tells you
Aave calculates health factor as (Total Collateral Value × Weighted Average Liquidation Threshold) / Total Borrow Value. The result reflects the value and liquidation thresholds of your collateral relative to your debt. A falling collateral price or growing debt can lower it. Aave says a position with a health factor below 1 is eligible for liquidation; see Aave’s Health Factor & Liquidations guide.
There is no universally safe health factor: asset volatility and correlation affect how quickly a position can deteriorate. Choose an early-warning threshold comfortably above 1 for your own collateral mix and risk tolerance. That threshold is a personal buffer, not a guarantee against liquidation.
Why rate alerts and liquidation alerts are different
Aave lending rates are dynamic: utilization and governance decisions influence them, and higher utilization leads to higher rates. For borrowers, accrued interest adds to debt and can lower health factor even when collateral prices stay unchanged. A ratio alert watches the position’s ratio; it does not necessarily watch the borrow rate itself.

Before relying on a rate notification, verify that the service explicitly supports a threshold for the relevant market’s borrow APR. Do not confuse it with the supply APY, which describes interest earned by suppliers.
Set up a documented Aave v3 ratio alert in DeFi Saver
- Open the Aave v3 dashboard in DeFi Saver.
- Select the correct position, whether it is held in an Account or a Smart Wallet.
- Open the Notify tab and configure a Ratio Monitor for a threshold crossing. The documented interface supports alerts when the ratio moves below or above a chosen value, and allows multiple monitors.
- Open Manage channels and choose the delivery options you want. DeFi Saver lists in-app notifications, Telegram, email, and Blockscan chat.
- Check that the selected channels are active and that the live app covers your position and market before relying on an alert.
DeFi Saver also describes an Aave v3 supply-cap increase monitor. Its August 2026 newsletter says Notify supports safety-ratio and supply/borrow-cap alerts through Telegram. These are useful position and market-parameter notifications, but the cited feature information does not establish a dedicated trigger for each individual borrow APR change. Confirm current features and coverage in the app.

Build an alert plan you can act on
- Leave time to respond: Set a ratio warning above 1, with room for volatility, network congestion, or a temporarily unavailable notification channel. There is no one threshold that is safe for every position.
- Use redundant delivery: When available, enable more than one route, such as in-app notifications plus Telegram or email, and verify each one.
- Track borrowing costs separately: If the service does not explicitly offer a borrow-rate threshold alert, monitor the relevant market and asset yourself. Check the chain and confirm the figure is borrow APR rather than supply APY.
- Review after position changes: Recheck thresholds and alert coverage when you change collateral, borrow, or move networks. Rates can change with utilization, and Aave risk parameters can change through governance.
- Treat alerts as prompts, not protection: Notifications may be delayed or unavailable, and positions can change quickly. Inspect the position and decide what action to take rather than assuming an alert prevents liquidation.
What to check when choosing an alert service
Compare services on the details that determine whether an alert will help with your specific position:
- Which protocols, chains, and markets are covered?
- Does the alert track a position ratio, token prices, supply rates, borrow rates, or some combination?
- Can you set your own threshold, and how quickly does the service trigger?
- Which delivery channels are available, and can you use more than one?
- Does setup require connecting a wallet?
- Does the tool only notify you, or can it execute transactions?
DeFi Saver’s documented Aave v3 features establish ratio and selected cap monitors, but do not establish a complete current coverage matrix across protocols and chains. Verify support for your exact position and market in the live service.
