Do you mean a personal YouTube Music mix or a public livestream that other people can tune into? For private listening, use YouTube Music’s station builder to seed a mix with artists you like. For a public radio-style programme, you need an eligible YouTube channel, a video-and-audio feed, and permission to livestream every recording and composition you use.
Choose between a personal mix and a public station

For context, Prasar Bharati’s 2024–25 annual report says around 40 percent of total broadcasts on Akashvani primary channels comprise music, including classical, light, folk, film and music in various languages. Make a personal Indian classical station in YouTube Music
YouTube Music’s “Your music tuner” lets you create a customized, ongoing listening mix from selected artists. It supports up to 30 artist selections, along with controls for variety and whether the mix favors familiar or new music. The available filters depend on the current interface. - Open YouTube Music and go to the Home page. Find the “Your music tuner” section.
- Select artists whose recordings or performances you want to hear. Add several artists to broaden the mix, or use fewer selections for a narrower starting point; the tuner allows up to 30.
- Adjust the variety and familiar-versus-new choices, then apply any filters shown in your app. YouTube’s guide documents the station builder but does not promise that every artist, gharana or tradition will be searchable.
- Select “Done” to start the station. Listen for a while, then adjust the artists or available controls if the recommendations drift from the sound you want.
Recommendations may draw on your linked YouTube account and can become more finely tuned as you listen. If the tuner does not offer an artist you want, or the mix is too broad, try fewer seeds or start from a specific track, album or artist instead.

Alternative: start radio from a track or artist
A March 15, 2023 Gadgets Now walkthrough described an item menu with “Start radio” for a song, album or artist, along with controls for artist selection and tuning. Set up a public YouTube radio-style livestream
A livestream is a creator broadcast, not a YouTube Music listening mix. YouTube supports mobile, webcam, encoder and console workflows. An encoder is useful when you need external audio or video sources, a produced programme or overlays; a simpler method may be enough for a basic broadcast. YouTube says expensive equipment is not necessary to start. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming
1. Check channel eligibility and enable livestreaming
Your channel must be verified and must not have a livestream restriction within the preceding 90 days. Enable livestreaming in YouTube Studio if you have not already done so. YouTube says first-time enablement can take up to 24 hours, so do this before your planned broadcast. Check the current requirements and available methods in YouTube’s live-streaming help.

2. Clear the music before preparing the programme
Do not build a playlist first and assume that attribution or a “free” label makes it safe to broadcast. YouTube says music is safe to use when it is public domain or you have permission from the copyright owner. Its suggested sources include the YouTube Audio Library, original music, Creator Music in eligible regions, and third-party music with a licence you have checked. A Content ID claim may still occur even when a track is labelled free, and buying rights elsewhere does not automatically notify Content ID. YouTube Help: Tips to find safe music
For each piece, confirm that permission covers the specific recording and composition, public livestreaming, the relevant territories and duration, and any archive or monetization plans. YouTube’s livestream terms require necessary worldwide rights for live content, including applicable music rights, and compliance with laws in the stream territory. A personal listening permission or a licence for an ordinary video should not be assumed to cover continuous public livestreaming. Creator Music is not established as a ready option for an India-based channel: YouTube’s surfaced Help page describes availability for U.S. creators in the YouTube Partner Program, with expansion outside the U.S. pending, and says terms are track-specific. 3. Create or schedule the broadcast in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
- Use the Live Control Room to create a new stream or schedule one. Review the stream details and audience settings before sending the programme.
- If using an encoder, copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key into the corresponding encoder fields. Treat the key as a credential: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
Follow the current instructions in YouTube Help: Set up your encoder for live streaming.
4. Send the feed, check the preview and go live
- Start the encoder or other production method and wait for the Live Control Room preview.
- Check that the right programme is coming through and that audio and video are clear. Listen for clipping, silence, abrupt changes between tracks and mismatches between picture and sound.
- When the preview is ready and the programme is accessible, start the livestream in YouTube Studio.
- Monitor the broadcast while it runs. When finished, stop the encoder and end the stream in YouTube Studio.
YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That archive behavior does not guarantee uninterrupted operation or make a stream suitable for unattended 24/7 broadcasting. YouTube’s encoder guide

Choose a production method for the programme
