You can run a YouTube radio livestream over JioFiber with a computer, encoder software, a YouTube stream key and a stable upload connection. Start with a modest 720p30 stream for a static radio visual, then confirm the computer’s actual upload speed can sustain the video and audio bitrate with about 20% headroom. A JioFiber plan’s advertised speed is not a substitute for testing the connection you will broadcast on.
Before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-streaming restriction from the preceding 90 days. YouTube also sets a minimum age of 16 for live streaming. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.
- A computer running encoder software. YouTube’s workflow uses an encoder, but its guidance does not require a particular software product.
- Your radio program’s audio source and a visual, such as a show graphic. A microphone is optional if your program does not include a live host.
- Audio and video you have permission to broadcast. YouTube flags content rights as a concern; whether a particular recording is cleared depends on your rights and permissions.
- Access to your Jio Home Gateway and enough measured upload capacity for your chosen stream settings.
Choose video and audio settings
For a low-motion radio graphic, 720p30 is a practical starting point. YouTube’s current English encoder guidance recommends 3 Mbps for 720p30 H.264 and 10 Mbps for 1080p30 H.264. It recommends CBR, a two-second keyframe interval (not more than four seconds), and stereo AAC audio at 128 Kbps. These are recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular computer or connection will perform well.

Settings and recommendations are from YouTube’s encoder settings guidance. The 3 Mbps video setting plus 128 Kbps audio already exceeds 3 Mbps before protocol overhead, so do not treat 3 Mbps as the total connection speed needed.
Set up the YouTube stream
- Open YouTube Studio, select Create, then Go Live.
- In Live Control Room, open the Stream tab and create or select the stream.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream. Keep the key private: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your stream.

Configure your encoder
- In your encoder, choose its YouTube destination if available. Otherwise, enter the server URL from Live Control Room in the server field.
- Paste the matching YouTube stream key into the encoder’s stream-key field. Make sure you are using the key for the stream you selected.
- Set the video to H.264, 720p at 30 fps, 3 Mbps, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval. Set audio to stereo AAC at 128 Kbps.
- Select the intended audio source and radio visual. Confirm that the encoder meters respond to program audio and that the visual is the one you mean to broadcast.
The encoder’s labels vary by software. YouTube explains the general workflow and key handling in its encoder setup instructions; use your encoder’s documentation for product-specific controls.
Test JioFiber upload from the broadcast computer
- Connect the computer to the Jio Home Gateway on the same connection you intend to use for the broadcast. Ethernet is a useful way to reduce dependence on local Wi-Fi conditions during testing, but it is not a stated JioFiber service requirement.
- Run an upload speed test from that computer. YouTube recommends testing the actual connection and trying a realistic stream with similar audio and movement, rather than relying only on a plan’s advertised speed.
- Compare the measured upload capacity with the entire stream bitrate, including audio, and keep roughly 20% headroom. Leave additional room for protocol overhead and other devices sharing the connection.
- If the test or rehearsal is unstable, lower the video bitrate or resolution and test again. Do not choose a bitrate equal to the speed-test result.
YouTube’s guidance says the total stream bitrate must not exceed available upload bandwidth and recommends about 20% upload headroom. See Streaming tips.

Jio’s regional plan page describes symmetric upload and download speeds and lists example tiers of 30, 100, 150 and 300 Mbps. Those are advertised plan examples, not a measurement of your home’s available upload at a particular time or location; plan details and availability vary. Check the connection you will actually use. Rehearse, preview and go live
- Start the encoder and wait for the incoming feed preview in Live Control Room.
- Listen carefully to the preview for continuous, clean audio. Check for missing channels, distortion, silence between tracks if unintended, and an appropriate audio level.
- Inspect the visual and stream health. If useful, rehearse with a private or unlisted stream before a public broadcast.
- When the preview and stream health look right, select Go Live in YouTube. Keep monitoring audio and stream health during the broadcast.
- When finished, end the event in YouTube and stop the encoder. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived.

Troubleshooting
The encoder will not connect
- Confirm that the server URL and stream key belong to the same stream in Live Control Room and are in the correct encoder fields.
- If the key may have been exposed, reset it in YouTube’s stream settings rather than continuing to use a compromised key. See Manage live stream settings.
Dropped frames or poor stream health
- Run another upload test from the streaming computer and connection.
- Lower the encoder’s video bitrate, then repeat a realistic rehearsal. Keep the total stream bitrate below available upload capacity with headroom.
- If other household devices are using the connection, reduce competing upload activity during the broadcast.
Audio is missing or distorted
- Check that the encoder is listening to the intended input and that its level meters move when the program audio plays.
- Test with representative program audio before going live; inspect the preview and listen on a separate device if possible.
Should I choose low latency?
For a radio stream that does not depend on real-time audience interaction, normal latency may be acceptable. Lower latency can increase buffering, so choose according to whether immediate interaction matters. YouTube describes latency options and stream settings in Manage live stream settings.
