To get a YouTube Official Artist Channel (OAC), make sure your artist channel, distributed music release, and policy record meet YouTube’s criteria, then ask your label or distributor to submit the request. If you have no label or distributor, contact a Music Service Partner listed in YouTube’s Services Directory. YouTube does not promise approval or specify a guaranteed processing time.
Check whether your artist channel qualifies
YouTube lists several requirements for an Official Artist Channel:
- You own and operate one YouTube channel focused on the music of a single artist or band.
- The artist has at least one official music release delivered to YouTube and distributed by a record label or music distributor.
- The channel complies with YouTube’s Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Copyright policies.
- You have at least one qualifying partner relationship: a YouTube Partner Manager, membership in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), a label network that works with a Partner Manager, or distribution through a partner listed in YouTube’s Services Directory for Music Partners.
YPP is one possible partner route, not a universal requirement. It has separate eligibility requirements and an application process; meeting YPP requirements is not the same as requesting an OAC. See YouTube’s OAC eligibility guidance and its YPP requirements.
Prepare the channel before requesting
YouTube recommends uploading at least one public video to the artist channel in addition to having an official music release delivered there. A request from a channel with no public videos may be rejected or require extra verification. This is a recommendation, not an additional core eligibility condition listed by YouTube.

Use the artist or band name, ideally matching the name on the newest release. YouTube advises appropriate capitalization and spacing and recommends avoiding additions such as “Official,” “TV,” “Channel,” “YouTube,” or “Productions.”
Request the Official Artist Channel
- Confirm the release is on YouTube. Ask your label or distributor to verify that at least one official release has been delivered and distributed to YouTube under the correct artist identity.
- Check the channel focus and policy status. Make sure the channel represents one artist or band and complies with YouTube’s Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Copyright policies.
- Add a public video if the channel is empty. YouTube recommends this before submission; it can help avoid rejection or extra verification.
- Contact your label or distributor. Ask it to request an Official Artist Channel for the artist. YouTube’s guidance says, “Please contact your label or distributor to request an Official Artist Channel.”
- If you have no label or distributor, find a Music Service Partner. Check YouTube’s Services Directory and contact a listed Music Partner that can submit an OAC request on your behalf.
YouTube’s guidance does not give a guaranteed turnaround time, provide a direct artist application form, or guarantee acceptance simply because an artist believes the criteria are met. The partner submits the request; YouTube determines whether the channel qualifies.

Understand what an OAC consolidates—and what it does not
An OAC brings together subscribers from the artist’s existing channel and YouTube-generated Topic channel, and from a Vevo channel when applicable. After consolidation, the subscribe button and subscriber count no longer appear on the existing and Topic channels; subscribers can see the artist’s new music videos through the OAC.
This is a specific OAC feature, not a general channel-merging tool. YouTube says separate channels cannot be merged or linked through its general channel-merge process. An artist may still have a self-managed channel, a partner-provided channel, a Topic channel, and an OAC. Topic channels are generated automatically and use the format “Artist Name – Topic.”

What changes after YouTube approves the OAC
Artist-focused music and channel features
YouTube documents consolidated subscribers, Analytics for Artists, ticketing, and merch among OAC features. The Releases section is generated automatically and generally presents the most recent release first, followed by full-length albums, EPs, and singles ordered newest to oldest. It includes releases where the artist is listed as a primary artist; karaoke releases do not appear. The channel can also display music-video content and a selected featured video. Analytics for Artists
Analytics for Artists requires that you own or manage an OAC. Its views can show performance across the OAC, Vevo, or a label, and can include Art Track metrics. Details are in YouTube’s Analytics for Artists help page.

Fixing a missing release, Vevo issue, or artist image
- If a release is missing or incorrect in the discography, YouTube directs artists to submit feedback.
- For a Vevo channel merge request, use YouTube’s contact form; direct Vevo content issues to Vevo.
- Once the OAC is active, update the artist image in YouTube Studio.
Keep the channel eligible
An OAC can be suspended and revert to a standard channel if it receives a Community Guidelines strike or contains content with limited features. YouTube says it is restored automatically after active strikes and limited-feature content are gone, provided the channel otherwise meets the program criteria. Keep the channel compliant with YouTube’s policies after setup, not just while requesting the OAC.

Does getting an OAC transfer every video and channel asset?
No. OAC subscriber consolidation is specific to associated artist and Topic channels, and Vevo when applicable; it is not a general channel merge or a promise to transfer every asset.
