You can add a YouTube Giving fundraiser to an always-on channel if the channel has access to Giving: create the fundraiser in YouTube Studio, choose an eligible U.S. nonprofit, attach the scheduled livestream, and publish. Treat the fundraiser attachment as specific to that scheduled stream; YouTube’s public setup instructions do not say that one campaign automatically covers every future broadcast in a continuous feed.
Check whether your channel can use YouTube Giving
YouTube’s published criteria say a channel should be based in a supported location, have at least 10,000 subscribers, be in the YouTube Partner Program, and not be designated “made for kids.” YouTube also notes that some channels outside those criteria may see fundraising access. The practical check is whether YouTube Studio > Earn > Giving is available on your channel. Check YouTube’s current supported-location list rather than relying on a static list: YouTube Giving FAQs.
The organization must be a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) public charity, requested by a creator, part of Google for Nonprofits, opted into online fundraising through GuideStar, and compliant with YouTube monetization policies. If it is missing from the selection tool, check those requirements. A creator request can take up to five business days to process. Details are in Google for Nonprofits’ fundraiser setup guide.

Create the fundraiser and attach the scheduled livestream
- Sign in to YouTube Studio using the channel that has Giving access.
- Open Earn > Giving, then choose Get started > Create a fundraiser.
- Select an available nonprofit. If it is not listed, request it and allow up to five business days for the request to be processed.
- Enter the fundraiser title and description, and add collaborators if needed. YouTube suggests a goal and duration; you can change them.
- Add the scheduled livestream that should display the donate feature. You can also start fundraiser setup from Live Control Room > Advanced Settings while preparing a stream.
- Publish the fundraiser. After its start date, the donate control appears on the stream’s watch page or in live chat. Confirm the correct scheduled stream is attached and inspect its viewer-facing page once the campaign has started.
For a continuous channel, plan and verify this attachment for the intended scheduled livestream. The public instructions describe adding scheduled livestreams; they do not establish that attaching one stream binds every later broadcast or an uninterrupted 24/7 feed to the fundraiser. What viewers see, and what the fundraiser changes
Donate button in chat or beside the player
When live chat is enabled, viewers can donate using the icon in chat. If chat is off, YouTube places the donate button beside or below the stream. On mobile, viewers need portrait orientation to see live chat donations. The creator can monitor contributions through the Viewer Activity Widget in Live Control Room. A video or channel set as made for kids will not show the button. These details are covered in YouTube Giving FAQs.
Features that are unavailable on a fundraiser stream
Live Chat Donations replace the former Super Chat for Good flow. On streams using Live Chat Donations, Super Chat and Super Stickers are disabled, and members-only live chat cannot be used with the donate button. Super Thanks is unavailable on videos with donations. YouTube says adding a fundraiser does not affect ads. Decide whether the donation experience or those chat features matters more for the stream before publishing.

Where the donations go
YouTube says 100% of a viewer’s contribution goes to the nonprofit and YouTube pays transaction fees. Google works with Network for Good to collect and distribute donations at Google’s request. Distributions are typically monthly; donations under $10 are distributed annually. Network for Good has legal control of collected donations and may select another qualifying nonprofit if it cannot distribute funds to the intended recipient. The creator does not receive the donations directly.

Plan the always-on stream around the fundraiser
Confirm ordinary livestream access
To livestream, the channel must be verified, live streaming must be enabled, and the channel must have no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. YouTube says streamers must be at least 16. YouTube supports mobile, webcam, encoder, and console streaming; an encoder is suited to productions using overlays or external audio/video hardware. See Get started with live streaming.

Choose between a scheduled event and a continuous feed
A scheduled event gives you a specific stream to attach to the fundraiser and a viewer-facing page to check after the fundraiser begins. With an always-on channel, do not assume the same attachment carries over to future scheduled streams. Check the campaign and stream page when you change or replace the scheduled broadcast.
Do not promise a complete replay
The exact archive limit for a continuous broadcast is not established by the official pages cited here. YouTube’s live streaming tips are a useful starting point, but they do not confirm a definitive maximum archive duration for an uninterrupted 24/7 feed. If replay retention matters, check YouTube’s current archive guidance and make a local recording rather than promising viewers that the entire broadcast will be available afterward. If YouTube Giving is unavailable
You can direct viewers to an external fundraising page, for example with an end screen link. Google for Nonprofits lists platforms such as GoFundMe and JustGiving as options: Reach new audiences & engage your supporters using YouTube. This is not YouTube’s native donate button: check the external platform’s current setup and fundraising terms, and make clear to viewers that they are leaving YouTube’s donation flow.

- Viewers cannot donate in chat: confirm live chat is enabled. If it is off, the control should be beside or below the stream instead. On mobile, live chat donations require portrait orientation.

- The donate button is absent on a particular video: check whether the video or channel is designated made for kids.
