To set up a website change monitor in Fluxguard, add the target site, let its first crawl create a baseline, choose the kind of change that should trigger a new version, run a test crawl, and set a schedule. Then review the comparison and tune filters so alerts focus on changes that matter.

1. Add the site and create a baseline

  1. Open the Fluxguard dashboard and add the site or page you want to monitor. Fluxguard organizes monitoring into sessions. One session can be enough for a simple check; separate sessions can represent different user paths. See Fluxguard’s website-change setup tutorial.
  2. Wait for the first crawl to finish. Its capture is the baseline against which later crawls are compared. Inspect the capture using the available screenshot, rendered HTML, extracted text, and network views before deciding what should count as a change.
  3. Review the discovered pages. Add relevant URLs and arrange them in the order needed for the journey. Fluxguard says sessions preserve cookies and local storage, which can help when a later page depends on an earlier step, such as signing in.

2. Choose what counts as a change

In Session Settings, select the primary detection strategy. Fluxguard’s general tutorial describes extracted text as the default. The primary strategy determines whether a change is significant enough to record a new version; additional comparisons can then help explain what changed.

Monitoring goal Comparison to start with Watch for
Visible wording or page content Extracted text Minor copy edits or rotating content can create changes that are not important to you.
Specific terms only Keyword-based detection Use filters to narrow detection to the terms that matter; see the tutorial index.
Appearance, CSS, or image rendering Visual or screenshot comparison Dynamic layouts or changing content may produce visual differences. Fluxguard’s visual monitoring tutorial describes screenshot overlays and sliders for examining differences.
Front-end structure or code Rendered HTML or DOM comparison Dynamic rendering can make structural differences noisy; use exclusions where appropriate.
Scripts, images, or other loaded resources Network comparison A resource change may be meaningful even when the visible page looks the same.
Extracted entities Entity comparison Choose this when the information of interest is represented as entities rather than general page text.

These are options described in Fluxguard’s product documentation, not independent performance tests. The right trigger depends on the kind of change you need to catch and how much noise you can tolerate.

3. Run a test crawl and inspect the comparison

  1. Use the session’s play control to start another crawl after the baseline exists.
  2. Open the new capture and compare it with the baseline using the selected primary strategy and the other available views.
  3. For a visual workflow, set visual change as the primary comparison, crawl again, and inspect the visual diff. Fluxguard describes overlays and sliders as ways to examine screenshot changes in its visual-change guide.
  4. If the result includes irrelevant differences, adjust comparison settings or filters before relying on alerts.

4. Set the crawl schedule

Open Session Settings, then the Crawl tab, and choose the interval you need. Fluxguard’s frequency tutorial lists options including every 15 minutes, every hour, every day, and every month. Very fast frequencies may require verification by emailing Fluxguard from the monitored domain; check your account’s current eligibility and the options shown in the console before depending on a particular interval. Details are in Fluxguard’s crawl-frequency tutorial.

Choose cadence based on how quickly you need to know about a change, how frequently the page itself changes, and the verification or account requirements that apply. No published performance statistic in the setup materials establishes a universally optimal interval.

5. Tune alerts and reduce noise

  • Exclude irrelevant areas or content: use inclusion and exclusion filters when recurring page elements obscure the changes you care about.
  • Monitor selected terms: use keyword-oriented detection when a particular word or phrase matters more than general page changes.
  • Reduce unwanted resource changes: network blocks can help when resource activity is not relevant to the monitor.
  • Set report frequency: adjust email report frequency in account settings. Fluxguard’s visual guide also identifies webhooks as an integration option.
  • Inspect before suppressing: compare text, rendered HTML, screenshots, and network activity to determine whether a repeated difference is harmless or signals an actual change.

Fluxguard’s web-console walkthrough covers the main views, comparisons, settings, and filtering capabilities. Its tutorial index also lists guides for password-protected pages, forms, clicked elements, false-positive reduction, APIs, and webhooks. Add actions only when the monitored page or journey requires them.

If your immediate need is to capture a page rather than maintain a scheduled change-monitoring workflow, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return a screenshot or PDF; its consent-banner, popup, and chat-widget cleanup runs before capture. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. AI agents can use its MCP server and tools, including take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf.

Troubleshooting

The first crawl is still running or shows no useful comparison

Wait for the initial capture to finish; it is the baseline and cannot show a change against an earlier capture in that session. Then run another crawl to create a comparison.

The monitor reports too many changes

Check whether the selected primary strategy is broader than your goal. For wording, use text; for specific terms, use keyword detection; for appearance, use visual comparison. Inspect the diffs and apply filters or network blocks to recurring irrelevant changes.

A visual diff looks different on every crawl

Review the screenshot and other capture views to identify dynamic content or layout variation. If you only need changes to selected wording, switch from visual comparison to text or keyword-based detection instead of treating every pixel difference as meaningful.

A fast crawl interval is unavailable

Fluxguard’s frequency documentation says very fast frequencies may require verification by emailing Fluxguard from the monitored domain. Confirm both verification and current account eligibility before relying on that cadence.
