To run original children’s music videos continuously on YouTube, create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, connect your encoder with the supplied server URL and stream key, preview the feed, and start streaming. Because the songs and videos are intended for children, set the audience to “Yes, it’s Made for Kids.” Keep local recordings: YouTube says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive.
Before you set up the stream
Check channel eligibility
YouTube’s guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the person livestreaming must be at least 16. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance; interface labels and requirements can change.
Prepare the videos and rights records
Gather the finished videos and confirm that you have the rights needed for both livestreaming and any replay. “Original” should cover more than the video file: a composition, sound recording, performance, sample, illustration, animation, or other contribution may involve separate rights holders. Keep written permissions or ownership records for songs, masters, performers, visuals, samples, and collaborators. YouTube’s livestream terms require rights for live and archived content. This checklist is practical guidance, not legal advice.

Choose an archive plan before going live
A 24/7 broadcast is not a reliable way to create one complete YouTube replay. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. It recommends keeping a local archive. If usable replays matter, plan shorter sessions under 12 hours and verify each replay in Studio; retain independent local recordings as your backup. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

Create the YouTube livestream
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. Create a new stream or schedule one in the Live Control Room. Enter its title and other metadata, and choose the intended privacy setting. YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes this workflow.
- Set the audience accurately. For songs and videos deliberately made for children, select Yes, it’s Made for Kids in the stream’s audience setting. YouTube considers factors such as intended audience, songs, characters, activities, and subject matter; do not rely on automated classification. Its guidance is in Set your channel or video’s audience and the Made for Kids FAQ.
- Copy the connection details. In the stream settings, copy the Live server URL and stream key. The key works like a password: do not share it or show it in a recording or screenshot. YouTube explains the connection details in Manage live stream settings.
Connect and test the encoder
- Open your encoder’s streaming settings. Choose the custom/YouTube RTMP connection option, then paste the server URL and stream key into the matching fields. Exact controls vary by encoder; use its YouTube encoder workflow if the labels differ.
- Load the children’s music video or playlist. For a continuous channel, arrange the videos in the order you want them to play and enable looping in the encoder or playback system. Confirm that the source continues cleanly at the end of the playlist rather than going to a blank screen or stopping.
- Start sending the feed, but do not assume it is public yet. Check the Live Control Room preview for picture, sound, correct aspect ratio, and the expected video. Wait for YouTube’s status to indicate that the incoming stream is healthy, then start the broadcast from Studio when ready.
- Test the viewer experience. Open the watch page on a phone and another browser or device. Confirm audio, video, stream title, audience setting, and that the feed remains live while the playlist advances.
YouTube’s live streaming tips recommend preparing an encoder stream well ahead of an event, starting the encoder at least 15 minutes beforehand, checking the preview, testing failover, and monitoring audio and video. Those are event-oriented suggestions; for an always-on channel, adapt them into a launch checklist and a recurring maintenance routine.
Make a 24/7 stream maintainable
Choose continuous viewing or archive-friendly segments

For either format, keep a separate local recording if the videos or complete broadcast must be preserved. Storage needs depend on your actual recording bitrate, simultaneous recordings, and retention period; YouTube does not prescribe a particular drive or capacity. An external SSD is one possible local-storage option, not a YouTube requirement.
Keep the stream key and operations secure
- Store the stream key only in the encoder or an approved password manager. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in Studio and update the encoder.
- Check the playlist, encoder connection, audio, and Live Control Room status after changes to videos, software, or network equipment.
- Maintain a local recording and a way to check the watch page; a healthy encoder preview does not by itself prove that the public playback and archive are correct.
Made for Kids changes what viewers can do
Correctly designating a child-directed stream affects its features. YouTube lists live chat and chat donations as disabled, and comments and reminder notifications among affected features. Super Chat is unavailable, and personalized ads are disabled; contextual ads may still appear. Do not build the channel plan around live chat, viewer donations, reminder notifications, or personalized-ad yield. See YouTube’s audience-setting guidance and Made for Kids feature restrictions.

Protect the stream from copyright interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. It may replace the stream with a placeholder, issue warnings, or interrupt or terminate a stream that continues to carry matched material. A license does not necessarily prevent interruption: a rights holder may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID. Archived content can also receive Content ID claims after the stream ends. Read YouTube’s live copyright guidance.
Before launch, check that every element in the stream is covered—not only the song composition, but also the recording, performances, samples, artwork, animation, and other supplied material. For licensed third-party Content ID content, ask the rights holder to allowlist the channel before the first broadcast, and keep the written confirmation with the rest of your rights records.
Understand monetization limits
Continuous streaming does not itself qualify a channel for monetization. You must meet YouTube Partner Program eligibility requirements and be accepted, and livestreams remain subject to YouTube’s monetization policies. YouTube’s policy updated July 15, 2025, renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material is ineligible; it says content should be original and authentic. Original songs and videos can support that goal, but looping the same material or publishing interchangeable template videos does not guarantee approval. See YouTube channel monetization policies.

Made-for-Kids settings also constrain monetization: personalized advertising and live fan-funding features are unavailable. Troubleshoot common problems
