To keep a YouTube livestream running around the clock with Muvi Live, first confirm that YouTube has enabled live streaming on your channel, then configure a continuous video feed and verify how your Muvi account routes it to YouTube. Muvi documents creating a stream and connecting an encoder with a Muvi stream URL and key; it also advertises YouTube integration and simulcasting. The exact current steps for routing through Muvi’s social integration are not established in the available official setup material, so check the instructions in your Muvi dashboard before choosing that route.
Before you start: confirm YouTube and Muvi readiness
- YouTube: Your channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction during the previous 90 days. First-time live activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance.
- Muvi: Make sure your account provides access to Muvi Live and identify whether you intend to use its stream server with an encoder or its advertised YouTube/social-platform integration.
- Continuous source: Decide what video and audio will play continuously. The documented Muvi example uses OBS as a software encoder; the setup material does not establish a need for a camera, capture card, or specific hardware.
- Network: Check upload capacity, not just download speed. YouTube recommends leaving about 20% headroom beyond the combined stream bitrate and testing the connection under representative conditions. See YouTube’s network and encoder tips.
Choose how Muvi Live will reach YouTube
There are two distinct jobs: an encoder or source provides the video feed, while YouTube is the audience-facing destination. Muvi can provide stream ingestion and advertises integration with social platforms, including simulcasting. Its general encoder instructions describe sending an encoder feed to a Muvi stream server, but the official material available here does not specify the current account-level steps for routing that stream onward to YouTube.

Open the current Muvi dashboard instructions for your account and confirm the chosen route before configuring a long-running broadcast. Do not assume that entering a Muvi server URL in an encoder by itself sends the feed to YouTube.

Set up the stream and encoder
- Create the stream in Muvi Live. In the Muvi dashboard, create a live stream and configure its available metadata and options. Muvi’s help workflow places stream metadata and options in the content library and makes the stream URL and key available in stream information. Dashboard labels can vary; follow the current in-account help for the exact path.
- Start the Muvi stream server. Muvi’s documented sequence has you start the server before connecting the encoder. Copy the displayed stream URL and key from the stream information page.
- Configure OBS as the encoder. Create a scene, add the video and audio sources you want to run continuously, then open OBS streaming settings and choose a custom streaming service. Paste the Muvi server URL into the server field and the Muvi stream key into the key field. Apply the settings. Other encoder applications may use different labels.
- Start the encoder only after the Muvi server is active. Start streaming in OBS and confirm the Muvi-side preview or status. If you are using Muvi’s social destination instead, follow the current dashboard connection steps rather than substituting the encoder URL/key workflow.
- Confirm the YouTube destination. In YouTube Live Control Room, verify that the expected stream appears, inspect the preview and stream health, and make the broadcast public or otherwise set the intended visibility when ready.
Set video, audio, and network settings for YouTube
Use YouTube’s current encoder recommendations as a baseline, then select settings that match the actual resolution, frame rate, codec, and upload bandwidth. YouTube recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval, and supported video and audio codecs. Its guidance lists 10 Mbps as the recommended video bitrate for H.264 at 1080p30; that figure is specific to that format, not a universal setting for every stream. See YouTube’s encoder settings.

- Protocol: Use RTMPS when the selected route and encoder support it. Confirm which endpoint and protocol Muvi supplies for your chosen route.
- Bitrate: Choose a video bitrate for the target resolution and frame rate, and account for audio bitrate in the total. Your available upload bandwidth must exceed the combined stream bitrate; YouTube recommends approximately 20% additional headroom.
- Rate control and keyframes: Set CBR and a two-second keyframe interval where your encoder exposes those options.
- Codec and audio: Select codecs supported by YouTube and the chosen delivery route. Check that the audio source is present and not clipping or unintentionally silent.
- Reliability: A wired Ethernet connection can be useful for a stationary encoder, but Cat 6 specifically is not a requirement. Test the actual connection and monitor YouTube stream health.
Test the broadcast before leaving it live
- Run a private or unlisted test using representative motion and audio, rather than a static placeholder if the real program contains movement.
- Check the encoder output, Muvi preview or status, and YouTube Live Control Room for picture, audio, stream health, and unexpected interruptions.
- Open the watch page on a phone as well as a desktop browser. Confirm playback, audio, and the intended visibility.
- Test the failure and recovery procedure you have actually configured. If you have a backup encoder or network path, switch to it during the test and confirm the YouTube feed recovers as intended.
- Only leave the stream unattended after you know who or what will detect a failure and how the feed will be restored.
Plan for archives and ongoing server charges
YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A 24/7 broadcast may not be captured as one automatic archive under that rule, so arrange separate recording or video-on-demand storage if you need a complete recording, and check YouTube’s current behavior before relying on an archive.
Muvi’s product FAQ, accessed October 3, 2026, lists a charge of $0.50 per hour while its dedicated live-streaming server is active. Before leaving a server running continuously, confirm current subscription terms, included usage, and any infrastructure charges in your account; the hourly figure can materially affect the cost of a 24/7 setup.

Protect stream keys and troubleshoot common failures
Keep stream keys private
A YouTube stream key functions like a password for the stream. Do not show it in screenshots, public tutorials, or shared documents. If you think it has been exposed, reset it in YouTube Live Control Room and update the service or encoder using it. See YouTube’s guidance on stream keys.
