You can run a 24/7 YouTube stream with Castr without leaving a computer on: upload MP4 videos to a Castr Pre-Recorded Stream, arrange them into a playlist, enable Loop, connect YouTube, test privately, and start the stream. Use Castr TV Playout instead if you need a timed programme schedule. India does not have a separate setup path in the reviewed guidance; for scheduled broadcasts, set the device used to configure the schedule to India Standard Time.
Before you set up the stream
First confirm that your YouTube channel is eligible to go live. YouTube requires a verified channel and no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days; its stated minimum age for live streaming is 16. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Choose the content you plan to broadcast and make sure you have the necessary rights for every video and audio track.
- Prepare the videos as MP4 files. Castr’s file-size, file-count, storage, and duration limits vary by subscription, so check the current plan matrix and the limits shown in your account before uploading.
- Decide whether you want a playlist to repeat or a scheduled lineup with items at set times.
Choose the right Castr mode

For a simple always-repeating playlist, use Pre-Recorded Stream and Loop. For scheduled programmes, use TV Playout. Castr’s descriptions of these features and plan-dependent limits are in its pre-recorded stream guide and TV Playout guide.
Set up a looping YouTube stream in Castr
- Create the stream: In the Castr dashboard, create a new Pre-Recorded Stream.
- Add your videos: Upload MP4 files or select recordings already in your Castr library. Arrange them in the order you want them to play. The maximum file size, number of files, and playlist capacity depend on your subscription.
- Turn on Loop: Choose the looping option so the playlist repeats after it reaches the end. Check that your subscription supports infinite looping; Castr lists this feature on Premium and higher.
- Add YouTube: Add YouTube as a destination. Castr’s guide describes connecting a YouTube event through its API or entering YouTube’s streaming server and stream key manually. Follow the connection method offered in your account, and confirm the destination is enabled. See Castr’s YouTube connection instructions.
- Test privately: Use a private or unlisted YouTube stream first. Check Castr’s preview and input health, then confirm the picture and sound on YouTube before making the stream public. Castr’s test-stream guidance recommends testing before going live.
- Start and verify: Start the stream in Castr and check the YouTube channel from a separate viewer device to confirm that it is playing as expected.
Set up a scheduled channel with TV Playout
- Open TV Playout in Castr and create a playout schedule.
- Add the media files you want to broadcast and arrange them into the required programme order and times.
- Connect the resulting Castr livestream to YouTube as a destination, then confirm the destination is enabled.
- Set the device you use to configure the schedule to India Standard Time before entering India-local broadcast times. Castr says schedule times use the device’s time zone.
- Test the output privately or as an unlisted YouTube stream, then check the actual YouTube playback before promoting it publicly.
TV Playout file and schedule capabilities depend on the Castr plan. Confirm the current limits in the plan matrix and your account rather than assuming every tier supports the same lineup.

Prepare video and audio for YouTube
Castr’s recorded-video recommendations for YouTube/Facebook delivery specify an average video bitrate of 1,500–2,500 Kbps and AAC audio at 128 Kbps. These are recommendations, not a guarantee that every source will look or sound right; upload a sample and inspect the destination output. Castr’s recorded-video recommendations are distinct from its settings for a live encoder.
If you are sending a live camera or another live production through an encoder instead of playing uploaded files, Castr’s published live-ingest recommendations include H.264 video, CBR, AAC or MP3 audio, and a two-second keyframe interval. The appropriate bitrate depends on resolution and frame rate. Those encoder settings are not prerequisites for a cloud playlist of prerecorded videos.

India-specific considerations
The reviewed Castr and YouTube setup guidance does not describe a separate India-only destination configuration. The practical local adjustment is scheduling: because Castr uses the configuring device’s time zone, set it to India Standard Time before entering India-local times. Rights, policies, and YouTube archives
Clear every playlist item
YouTube requires you to have the rights needed to use the content in a livestream, including music licensing rights, and to follow Community Guidelines and applicable laws. Do not rely on a single 24/7 archive
YouTube may automatically archive a livestream if it is less than 12 hours long. A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so a continuous 24/7 broadcast should not be treated as a dependable single replay. Keep original files or use a separate recording workflow if you need to preserve copies. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
Test and monitor the stream
Before public launch, check both the Castr input and what YouTube actually receives. Keep an eye on picture and audio quality after launch as well: cloud playout does not establish that YouTube or the destination will be available without interruption.

- Playlist will not loop: Check that Loop is enabled and that the subscription supports infinite looping.
- A file cannot be uploaded or added: Confirm it is an MP4 and check the plan’s file-size, file-count, storage, and duration limits in the current account interface.
- YouTube receives no stream: Confirm the YouTube destination is enabled. If you connected it manually, verify the streaming server and stream key; if you connected through the API, check that the intended YouTube event is connected.
- The schedule starts at the wrong local time: Check the time zone on the device used to configure TV Playout. Castr schedules use that device’s time zone; for India-local times, use India Standard Time.
- The preview looks fine but YouTube does not: Check YouTube playback separately, then review the destination connection and run another private or unlisted test before returning to public broadcast.
- The live archive is missing or incomplete: A continuous stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured by YouTube. Retain source files or set up separate recording if an archive matters.
