To run a 24/7 deep house radio channel with OBS, prepare a verified, eligible YouTube channel and music you have permission to stream, create a YouTube Live broadcast, connect OBS to it, and keep the computer running with a plan for monitoring and reconnects. YouTube may interrupt music streams when its systems detect third-party content, and a continuous broadcast should not be treated as a complete archive: YouTube’s production guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and advises recording longer streams separately for manual upload.
Before you begin
Check YouTube live-stream eligibility
Verify your YouTube channel and confirm it has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube says a creator must be at least 16 to live stream. Check your channel’s current status before planning a launch, since eligibility can change. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance
Clear the music and visuals
For every deep house track and visual, confirm you have rights for the intended territories and for live transmission. If you want to keep or publish an archive, confirm that your rights also cover video-on-demand use; permission to play music live does not automatically establish permission to leave a recording online.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. Even if you have a license, a rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to prevent interruptions. Set up the 24/7 broadcast with OBS
1. Build the program
Prepare the audio and visuals you are authorized to use. Decide how the program will run continuously, such as a long mix or a planned rotation of tracks. Check that the audio plays cleanly, transitions work, and any on-screen graphics are correct before connecting to a public broadcast.
2. Create or schedule a YouTube broadcast
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
- Create a stream or schedule one. Set its title, description, privacy, thumbnail, and other broadcast details.
- Copy the stream key for that broadcast if you plan to use manual encoder setup. Keep it private: anyone with access to the key may be able to send a signal to your stream.

3. Connect OBS to YouTube
OBS offers a YouTube account integration, or you can select the YouTube RTMPS service and connect using the stream key. With account integration, use OBS’s broadcast selection or creation flow and choose the intended broadcast. With manual setup, select the YouTube RTMPS service and enter the key copied from the matching YouTube broadcast. A key tied to a different broadcast can send the signal to the wrong event or fail to match the preview.

4. Test privately before launch
Before announcing a public 24/7 channel, use a private or unlisted test. Verify that the YouTube preview shows the expected audio and visuals, the audio level is usable, and playback works from a viewer’s perspective. Check the stability of the actual computer, network connection, and OBS session you intend to use. The available official setup guidance does not establish a tested minimum computer specification or guarantee uninterrupted operation, so a real test is more useful than assuming any particular machine will run continuously.
5. Start the stream and monitor it
Start the OBS output and confirm that YouTube receives it in the Live Control Room. Then make the broadcast public or start it according to the broadcast settings. Keep OBS and the computer running: with this DIY method, the stream depends on the local machine, power, and internet connection. Plan who or what will notice a dropped signal and how you will reconnect; OBS provides broadcast start/stop and auto-stop controls, and YouTube warns that a broadcast may end after several hours without an incoming stream. Plan for interruptions and the archive
Reconnects are part of the operating plan
A 24/7 schedule does not itself guarantee a 24/7 signal. A computer shutdown, network outage, OBS issue, or YouTube interruption can break the broadcast. Monitor the Live Control Room and have a practical recovery procedure for restarting OBS and reconnecting to the intended broadcast. Do not assume a specific OBS version or setup will recover every failure without attention.

YouTube’s production guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For streams longer than 12 hours, it advises recording separately and uploading manually; that guidance is not a promise that every shorter stream will always produce a complete archive. If you need a replay, make a separate recording and verify that your music and visual permissions cover the resulting on-demand upload. YouTube Live production guide

Common problems and fixes
- YouTube does not accept the signal: Check that OBS is connected to the correct YouTube broadcast and that the stream key matches it. Re-select the broadcast or replace the manual key with the one shown for that event.
- The stream appears in OBS but not in the YouTube preview: Check the selected service or account connection, broadcast selection, and outgoing signal status in OBS and the Live Control Room before making the event public.
- A music stream is interrupted or flagged: Review YouTube’s copyright notice and contact the rights holder. Confirm both live-use permission and any required Content ID allowlisting; a license alone may not prevent an interruption.
- The broadcast ends after a signal drop: Reconnect OBS to the intended event and confirm YouTube receives the signal again. Review OBS start/stop and auto-stop behavior, and keep a monitoring and recovery plan for long-running broadcasts.
- The archive is missing or incomplete: Do not depend on a continuous stream archive for a full-day recording. Record the program separately and upload it manually if you have the necessary on-demand rights.
- The stream is unstable over time: Test the specific computer and connection under the intended workload, then investigate local power, network, and OBS issues. The cited official setup material does not specify a universal hardware minimum or promise continuous uptime.
