You can use OBS to send a continuous Telugu music feed to YouTube Live, but the setup has two separate requirements: a computer or encoder must keep sending the stream, and you must have copyright permission for every recording and visual you broadcast. Enable YouTube Live, create a stream in YouTube Studio, connect OBS with the stream URL and stream key, then test the feed before leaving it unattended. A 24/7 broadcast also has archive limits: YouTube says streams over 12 hours may not be captured at all.
Before you start: eligibility, rights, and equipment
Enable YouTube Live
Your channel must have live streaming enabled. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so do this before you plan to launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
Clear rights to the music
Do not assume that a song is safe to rebroadcast because it is available online, labeled “free,” or purchased for personal listening. You need rights appropriate to your use, including the live broadcast, territories, and any archive or later viewing. YouTube’s livestream terms state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Read YouTube’s livestream terms.

For a licensed third-party catalog, check the license terms and ask the rights holder or distributor to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist before you broadcast. YouTube notes that a live stream can be interrupted for matching third-party content even when you have a license if the channel has not been allowlisted. Keep written license records. YouTube recommends its Audio Library and advises creators to check third-party music licenses for permitted uses; its catalog may not meet every Telugu-music channel’s needs. Commissioned original music or a properly licensed catalog may be a better fit. “Royalty-free,” “free download,” or a purchase alone does not establish live-stream rights. Keep an encoder running
OBS is software that encodes and sends the broadcast from a computer, so a 24/7 OBS stream depends on that computer, its power and internet upload, and the playback source staying available. YouTube also documents standalone hardware encoders as an option. Choose based on your scene needs, recording plans, encoding workload, heat, reliability, recovery needs, and budget; the available guidance does not establish a universal computer specification or a best encoder. You can find OBS through the official OBS project site. YouTube’s overview of encoder options is in its live encoder setup guidance.
Set up OBS and connect it to YouTube Live
- Enable live streaming on your channel. In YouTube Studio, follow the live-streaming setup flow and wait for initial activation if required. YouTube says activation can take up to 24 hours.
- Prepare your content. Confirm music and visual rights before adding sources. Create an OBS scene with the audio and visuals you intend to broadcast. OBS’s exact source and looping controls can vary by version; use its current documentation for the specific media-source workflow rather than relying on unverified menu names.
- Create or schedule a stream. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create a new stream or schedule one. For scheduled broadcasts, YouTube can show the event as upcoming and let viewers choose “Notify me.” Scheduling helps with promotion; it does not keep OBS or the computer online.
- Copy the YouTube connection details. In the stream setup, copy the stream URL and stream key. YouTube recommends RTMPS. Treat the key as a password: do not publish or share it, and reset it if you think it has been exposed. See YouTube’s encoder connection instructions.
- Enter the details in OBS. Open OBS’s stream settings, select the appropriate YouTube connection method, and enter or authorize the stream URL and key as prompted. Confirm the destination and key carefully before starting.
- Set output quality for your connection. Choose resolution, frame rate, and bitrate to suit the content and the available upload connection. There is no universal best bitrate or PC specification for every channel. YouTube recommends testing the intended settings and checking stream health; review its recommended encoder settings and troubleshooting guidance.
- Run a representative test. Send a test that includes the kind of audio and motion you plan to stream. Check the YouTube preview and stream-health messages for problems before promoting the event or leaving it unattended. If the upload connection cannot sustain the chosen output, reduce settings and test again.
- Start the broadcast. Start streaming in OBS, then complete any required “Go live” action in Live Control Room. Confirm the live preview and status before treating the channel as on air.
Make a 24/7 stream more dependable
Continuous broadcasting adds failure points beyond OBS itself: power, the computer, internet upload, and the content source all need to keep working. Use a wired network connection, backup internet, or an uninterruptible power supply only if those address a real risk in your setup; they are optional measures, not platform requirements. YouTube’s stream-health checks help identify feed problems, but they do not guarantee uninterrupted service.

Plan how you will notice and recover from a stopped feed. A local operator can check OBS and Live Control Room periodically; if nobody will be present, arrange a recovery process appropriate to your hardware and connection. The official guidance cited here does not establish a particular OBS failover design or guarantee that a stream will reconnect automatically in every failure scenario.
Understand the archive and DVR trade-off
A continuous live broadcast and one complete saved video are different goals. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. It recommends keeping a local recording backup. YouTube also warns that DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. If a complete YouTube archive or rewind matters, plan sessions under 12 hours and restart between them; if you keep one longer session, do not rely on YouTube to save it. Troubleshoot common problems
- You cannot go live: Check that live streaming is enabled and that initial activation has completed. For a first-time channel, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours.
- OBS connects to the wrong stream or fails to connect: Recheck the selected YouTube destination, stream URL, and key in OBS against the current Live Control Room details. If the key may have been exposed, reset it and update OBS.
- YouTube reports poor stream health: Test the upload connection and lower resolution, frame rate, or bitrate if the connection cannot sustain the selected output. Recheck YouTube’s stream-health messages after each change.
- The live feed is interrupted for music: Stop and resolve the rights issue before resuming. Confirm that the license covers livestream use and ask the rights holder or distributor to allowlist your channel through Content ID. A license by itself may not prevent a live interruption.
- The broadcast ends or its archive is missing: Check whether the encoder computer, power, network, or playback source stopped. Separately, remember that YouTube may not capture a stream longer than 12 hours; use shorter sessions and a local recording when a complete archive is important.
