You can run a 24/7 Reiki music stream on YouTube by sending a prepared audio-and-visual feed from an encoder to a YouTube Live Control Room stream. First verify that your channel can go live, secure rights to every part of the feed, and test the encoder and upload connection before relying on a continuous broadcast. YouTube does not provide a Reiki-specific setup or guarantee uninterrupted uptime.
What you need before you start
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. If this is your first time enabling live streaming, activation may take up to 24 hours. YouTube’s live-streaming requirements explain eligibility.
- A prepared audio-and-visual feed, such as music with a still image or gentle animation. Use material you own or are authorized to use; YouTube does not prescribe a Reiki-specific format.
- An encoder, either software running on a computer or compatible standalone hardware, plus a reliable internet connection with enough upload capacity.
- Rights for all music and other content in the broadcast, including any permissions needed for live performance, recording, publishing, and replay.
You do not need expensive equipment simply because the stream is continuous. A wired Ethernet connection can be useful if your computer and network support it, but it is optional.
Choose how the stream will run
| Approach | Useful when | Trade-offs to check |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder on a computer | You already have a computer and want to control a prepared audio-and-visual feed. | The computer must stay powered and connected. Test its resource use, connection stability, and how it recovers after a restart or interruption. |
| Standalone hardware encoder | You already have dedicated production hardware or an established audio/video setup. | It adds equipment commitment. Confirm that the specific device works with YouTube and test its recovery behavior. |
| Cloud-based service | You want a hosted way to stream prerecorded video without keeping a computer running at home. | Check the service’s current features, rights workflow, reliability, cost, and YouTube compatibility. YouTube’s references to this category do not endorse a particular service. |
YouTube describes software and hardware encoders for sending a feed, and also refers to cloud-based tools for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming. These are different ways to deliver a feed; none removes your responsibility to secure music rights or plan for interruptions. YouTube’s encoder guidance describes the available approach categories.
Set up the YouTube stream and encoder
- Enable live streaming in advance. Verify your channel and check for live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Prepare the feed. Choose the music and visual you will send. Make sure you have the necessary rights for both, and confirm that the audio plays cleanly alongside the visual before connecting the encoder.
- Create or schedule an encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go Live and use the Live Control Room to create or schedule the stream. YouTube’s encoder workflow is for feeds produced with software or standalone hardware.
- Copy the connection details. In the Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s server and stream-key fields. The key is a credential that directs the encoder feed to your stream and lets YouTube accept it. Keep it private. If it is exposed, reset it in the Live Control Room and update the encoder.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Confirm that YouTube receives both audio and video in the Live Control Room before beginning the broadcast. Verify the channel or watch page, including on a mobile device.
- Begin the broadcast and monitor it. Use the Live Control Room to start the stream after confirming the preview. Watch and listen for problems during operation; a 24/7 stream needs a plan for encoder, power, and internet interruptions.
Test the connection before relying on a continuous stream
Measure the available upload bandwidth under the conditions in which the stream will run. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate. Treat that as a planning margin, not a guarantee against connection failures. Check the preview for stable video and clean, continuous audio, and test any backup encoder or failover process before you need it.
#1 Best Overall
- Test the complete feed, not just whether the encoder says it is connected.
- Check the stream from the channel or watch page and from a mobile device.
- If you intend to use failover, test the handoff. YouTube mentions unplugging Ethernet as one possible way to test failover; use it only if it matches your network setup.
- Decide how you will respond to a lost connection, encoder crash, or power interruption. YouTube’s guidance recommends preparation and monitoring but does not guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 operation.
Clear music and visual rights before going live
YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the creator to have the necessary rights to exploit the live content. For music, that can involve permissions from artists, record labels, publishers—including public-performance licenses—and other royalty participants. A subscription or purchase does not automatically establish that a track is cleared for a continuous livestream and replay; confirm the actual license covers your intended use.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace the live image, warn you to stop using identified content, interrupt or terminate the stream, or take action connected with a copyright or Community Guidelines strike. If you licensed third-party music, ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube warns that a stream may still be interrupted without that allowlisting, even when the content is licensed or restricted by territory. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and its Terms of Service.

Plan for replays separately
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its encoder guidance does not establish that a broadcast running longer than 12 hours will produce one intact replay. If a dependable archive matters, plan shorter broadcast sessions and confirm the resulting replay in YouTube Studio rather than assuming a 24/7 session will be saved as one video. See YouTube’s encoder instructions.

Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot start a live stream | The channel is not verified, has a recent live-streaming restriction, or first-time live activation is still processing. | Check channel eligibility and allow up to 24 hours after first enabling live streaming. |
| YouTube does not receive the encoder feed | The stream URL or key was entered incorrectly, or the encoder is not sending to the stream you created. | Compare the encoder’s server and key fields with the Live Control Room. If the key may have been exposed, reset it and replace it in the encoder. |
| Video or audio is unstable | The upload connection may lack capacity or stability, or the encoder may be struggling. | Check total stream bitrate and available upload bandwidth, aiming for YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Test the complete setup and monitor the Live Control Room preview. |
| The stream is interrupted after music is identified | The music may be unlicensed for this use, or a rights owner’s Content ID allowlist may be required. | Stop using the content until the rights are resolved. Confirm the license covers live and replay use and ask the owner to allowlist your channel where applicable. |
| The broadcast stops after a computer, power, or internet failure | A local encoder depends on its computer and connection remaining available. | Restore the failed component, reconnect the encoder using the correct stream details, and test any backup or recovery procedure in advance. |
| You cannot find one complete replay of a long broadcast | YouTube’s stated automatic-archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours; it does not establish a single intact archive for a longer continuous broadcast. | Use shorter sessions if a dependable replay is important, then verify the archive in YouTube Studio. |
Or let it run in the cloud
For a prerecorded Reiki music feed, StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos without requiring a computer, OBS, or home internet connection to stay on. The setup is three steps: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the video from the cloud and can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream.

- Nothing has to stay on at home.
- Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot rather than quality tiers.
- Automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card, one free day per account.
- Monthly: $9.99 per month.
Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, and support from the StreamNeo team. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos streaming to YouTube, not live camera input. See StreamNeo for details, then start the free day.
