Ant Media Server can turn a scheduled playlist of prerecorded Indian music into a continuous YouTube live stream. The practical sequence is to clear the music rights, confirm YouTube channel eligibility, create a playlist in an Ant Media application, add YouTube’s RTMP URL and stream key as the broadcast destination, and test the entire path before making it public. You will need a host and a reliable outbound connection; a successful test does not guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 operation.
Before setup: clear the music and check YouTube eligibility
Confirm rights for every recording and composition
Treat rights clearance as a launch requirement. For every track, identify the owners of both the sound recording and the underlying composition, then obtain permission for the intended stream territories and duration, and for archiving or monetization if you plan to use either. YouTube’s Live Stream Terms and Conditions put responsibility on the content provider to have the rights needed to exploit live content worldwide, including music licensing rights involving artists, labels, publishers and other royalty participants.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. A match can replace the stream with a placeholder and trigger a warning; continued use can lead to interruption or termination. Even music you have licensed may be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Keep written permissions and confirm any required allowlisting directly with the relevant owner before launch; details depend on your catalog and territories. Buying a track, crediting its artist, or having access to it through a consumer music subscription does not by itself establish live-broadcast rights. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Check the channel and operator
YouTube Help says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. The person streaming must be at least 16. Check the channel’s current status and complete any required verification in YouTube before configuring the broadcast. See Get started with live streaming.

Prepare Ant Media Server and a playlist
Choose and configure a host
Install and configure Ant Media Server in a hosting environment appropriate to your workload, then create or select the application that will handle the live stream. Open only the network paths required by your chosen publishing and restreaming workflow. The available information does not establish a universal server size, hardware model, or hosting price: those choices depend on the installed version, media workflow, stream quality, and load. Ant Media’s 2022 Linode walkthrough can illustrate the overall sequence, but its dated hosting example should not be used as a current sizing or pricing recommendation.
Build the linear program
Ant Media’s current version 3.1 playlist guide documents playlist-based linear streaming of prerecorded video, including 24/7 social-platform presence as a use case. It describes the feature as available in both Community and Enterprise editions. In the application, create and schedule a playlist using the documented workflow for your installed version. Check that each item has the expected video and audio, and verify how the playlist handles progression, repeats, and scheduling for the run you intend.

Test the exact file formats and playlist behavior with your installation rather than assuming every media item will behave identically. Ant Media’s guide concerns prerecorded video played as a live-style stream; it does not remove the need to check rights for the music included in those files.
Connect the Ant Media broadcast to YouTube
- Open YouTube Studio’s live setup. Use Create / Go Live and obtain the stream URL and stream key in the Live Control Room. Labels and screens can change, so follow the current Studio flow.
- Select the Ant Media stream. In Ant Media’s Live Streams area, create or select the broadcast associated with your application and playlist.
- Add YouTube as the RTMP destination. Use the stream’s Edit RTMP Endpoint action and enter YouTube’s stream URL and key as the endpoint. Ant Media’s current version 3.1 RTMP restreaming guide describes this workflow.
- Protect the key. Treat the stream key as a credential: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the stream. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the Ant Media endpoint.
- Confirm audio is present. Ant Media notes that “YouTube does not accept streams without audio.” Verify that the playlist’s audio reaches the outgoing broadcast, including during transitions and any clips that may be silent.
Test before making the stream public
Run the full chain before launch: playlist, Ant Media broadcast, RTMP delivery, and YouTube preview. Check the server’s broadcast state and YouTube Live Control Room for a healthy preview. Listen for the expected music, inspect video, confirm that the playlist advances as intended, and test that the channel and watch page can be reached on both desktop and mobile. Decide who will respond if the broadcast stops and how they will investigate it.
Capacity needs depend on the outgoing bitrate and actual workflow. YouTube recommends maintaining 20% upload-bandwidth headroom above the stream bitrate; consult its streaming tips and measure the host’s outbound capacity under realistic conditions. Monitor Ant Media or encoder dropped frames, CPU load, and network stability. Ant Media’s OBS publishing guide calls out dropped frames, CPU, and network stability as useful checks. A single successful preview demonstrates that the chain worked at that moment, not that it will remain online continuously.
Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive the broadcast | Incorrect or outdated RTMP URL or stream key, or an endpoint not saved on the selected Ant Media stream. | Compare the endpoint with the current values in YouTube Studio, confirm the correct Ant Media broadcast is selected, and update the key if it was rotated. |
| YouTube reports no incoming stream or rejects it | The stream is not reaching the configured endpoint, or it has no audio. | Check Ant Media’s broadcast state and endpoint, then verify that audible audio is present in the outgoing stream. YouTube does not accept streams without audio. |
| Picture freezes, stutters, or drops frames | Insufficient or unstable outbound capacity, or excessive CPU load in the publishing workflow. | Measure upload capacity, preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, and inspect dropped-frame and CPU indicators. Check network stability and the actual workload rather than assuming a particular host size. |
| Playlist does not progress or a segment has unexpected sound | Playlist scheduling, media behavior, or an item’s audio may differ from expectations. | Test the exact files in the installed Ant Media version; inspect playlist order and scheduling, and listen through transitions and silent segments. |
| Stream is replaced, interrupted, or warned for copyright | A third-party match, missing permission, or absent Content ID allowlisting. | Review YouTube’s notice, confirm rights for the recording and composition in the affected territory, and contact the relevant rights owner about channel allowlisting. Do not assume a local playback license covers a live broadcast. |
Ongoing operation and maintenance
- Monitor stream health, audio and video, playlist progression, outbound capacity, dropped frames, CPU load, and network stability during operation.
- Keep permissions, territory and use limitations, and any Content ID allowlisting confirmations together with the catalog records.
- Give the operator an incident contact and a clear response path for a stopped or disrupted stream.
- Review the installed Ant Media version’s playlist and endpoint behavior after configuration changes, and retest the full chain before returning to a public continuous run.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you would rather not maintain an Ant Media host and its outgoing connection, StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping a channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps the stream running without a computer or home connection staying on; uploads stream as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month.
