You can run a 24/7 devotional YouTube live stream by feeding recorded videos into an encoder or playback application configured to loop them, then connecting that encoder to YouTube Studio with the stream URL and key. YouTube Studio handles the stream setup; the repeat-playback control is in the encoder workflow, not a universal YouTube Studio loop button. Before leaving a stream unattended, test the loop, network, audio, rights, recovery plan and archive schedule.
Before you start: check channel access and prepare your material
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Live broadcasts must also comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Check access before configuring the playback system in YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- Prepare the recorded videos or playlist you intend to broadcast, and confirm they play correctly in your chosen encoder or media-playback application.
- Use a dependable internet connection with enough outbound upload bandwidth for the complete stream bitrate.
- Decide whether you need one continuous broadcast or shorter sessions. This matters if you want YouTube archives of the live sessions.
- Confirm you have rights to every element in the recordings, including music, performances, images, footage and sound recordings.
How to connect recorded videos to a YouTube live stream
- Create or schedule the broadcast in YouTube Studio. Open the Live Control Room and create a live stream or schedule one. Choose an encoder workflow. YouTube supports software encoders; it recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events, but dedicated hardware is not a basic requirement. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and streaming tips.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from Studio. Enter them in your encoder’s YouTube or custom RTMP connection settings. The stream key is a credential that lets the encoder send video to your channel; do not share it publicly. If it is compromised, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder. Details are in YouTube’s live-stream settings guide.
- Load the authorized recordings into the playback workflow. Set the encoder or media-playback application to play your chosen recording or playlist and repeat it. The exact loop setting depends on the application; the official YouTube instructions explain how to connect an encoder, not where every application’s repeat control is. Verify that one file transitions to the next, or restarts, exactly as intended.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. YouTube says the watch page is created when the encoder starts sending the feed. In Live Control Room, confirm the preview appears and check the picture, audio and stream status before the public broadcast begins.
- Test the full playback cycle and interruptions. Let the video reach its end, confirm the next item or restart behaves correctly, and test what happens if the encoder or internet connection drops. YouTube recommends testing in advance and discusses backup-encoder failover for planned streams, but that guidance does not guarantee unattended recovery in every continuous setup.
Choose software or hardware based on the job
| Route | When it fits | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder | A straightforward recorded-video stream that can be managed on a computer running the encoder. | Playback and broadcast depend on that computer, its software and its connection staying operational. |
| Dedicated hardware encoder | A more complex or higher-production broadcast where dedicated encoding equipment suits the workflow. | It is an optional equipment route, not a YouTube prerequisite; YouTube does not endorse a specific model in the cited guidance. |
| Cloud playback service | You want the stream to continue without leaving a computer running at home. | It replaces some local operations with a paid service; check supported inputs, stream destination, storage and billing terms before choosing one. |
Keep the stream stable and protect the stream key
Leave upload bandwidth headroom
YouTube advises that the total bitrate must not exceed available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% room. That is YouTube’s platform recommendation, not a guarantee of stability. Account for the whole stream bitrate and other devices using the same connection, and test at the resolution and bitrate you plan to use. Its streaming tips also recommend a reliable network, advance setup, previewing in Live Control Room, and monitoring audio and video.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsKeep credentials private
Treat the stream key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to the stream. Store it only in the encoder configuration and reset it in Live Control Room if you suspect it has been exposed. After a reset, replace the old key in the encoder before attempting to reconnect.

Plan for interruptions
Test how your exact encoder and playback application behave after a brief internet outage, an encoder restart and a computer restart. YouTube’s general failover guidance does not establish that a particular setup will recover without intervention. If unattended operation matters, choose a workflow with a recovery plan you have tested rather than assuming a local loop will restart itself.
Decide whether to stream continuously or use shorter sessions
YouTube’s encoder guidance says live streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For a 24/7 presence where replays matter, schedule shorter broadcasts and confirm each archive is available in Studio. Do not count on a broadcast longer than 12 hours being archived: the cited YouTube guidance specifies automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not longer ones.

| Approach | Best for | Planning point |
|---|---|---|
| One continuous stream | A channel whose priority is uninterrupted live presence. | Archive preservation beyond YouTube’s stated under-12-hour condition is not established by that guidance. |
| Planned sessions under 12 hours | A channel that also wants a better-defined path to archived replays. | Schedule transitions, check each session’s archive and handle encoder reconnection between sessions. |
Clear rights before broadcasting devotional recordings
A devotional purpose does not by itself clear copyright. YouTube’s livestream terms say the provider represents that they have the rights needed to use live content on Google services worldwide, expressly including applicable music licensing rights, and must comply with applicable laws and regulations. Review rights for the recording itself, musical composition, sound recording, performers, images, video footage and any third-party material.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. It may replace the feed with a placeholder, interrupt the stream or terminate it. Even a licensed work can be interrupted if the rightsholder has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID. Resolve permissions and any Content ID procedures with the relevant rights owners before relying on a recording for a continuous broadcast. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and its guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Those platform terms do not determine which India-specific permissions, local licensing procedures, tax rules or business obligations apply to an individual channel. Check the requirements relevant to your own material and circumstances rather than assuming the platform terms settle local law.
Understand monetization and replay eligibility
Monetized live streams may earn through ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships where available. Ad serving is not guaranteed, and access depends on channel eligibility and the applicable monetization modules. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization overview and monetization options.

YouTube’s YPP overview lists two application routes: 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months, or 1,000 subscribers plus 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. It also lists policy compliance, country or region availability, no active Community Guidelines strikes, two-step verification, advanced features access and an AdSense for YouTube account. Meeting a threshold does not guarantee acceptance; YouTube reviews the channel. Public archived livestreams may contribute qualified watch hours, while unlisted, deleted or non-archived live streams do not. Check the current YPP eligibility page and Studio Earn area because requirements can change.
Repeated recordings are not automatically eligible for monetization. YouTube applies its monetization policies to livestreams, including rules on reused content and repetitive or mass-produced “inauthentic content.” Its policy page records a July 15, 2025 clarification and renaming of “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content”; it says the reused-content policy did not change. Originality, permissions and channel-wide review matter. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Troubleshoot common setup problems
- No preview in Live Control Room: Check that the encoder is running, the correct stream URL and key are entered, and the stream is scheduled or active as intended. If you reset the key, update it in the encoder.
- Video stops or stutters: Compare the total stream bitrate with available outbound bandwidth, leave YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, and check whether other devices or uploads are consuming the connection.
- The recording ends and playback stops: Confirm repeat or playlist behavior in the encoder or media application, then test a complete transition before leaving the broadcast unattended.
- The stream drops and does not return: Reproduce the interruption during a test and check the encoder’s reconnection behavior. Do not treat general YouTube failover guidance as a guarantee for your particular unattended setup.
- The live feed is interrupted despite having a license: Contact the relevant rights owner about Content ID allowlisting and confirm the permissions cover the live use of each element.
- No replay appears as expected: Check the session length and archive status in Studio. YouTube’s cited automatic-archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I loop recorded videos on a 24/7 YouTube live stream?
Set repeat or playlist playback in the encoder or media-playback application that sends your recording to YouTube, then test the end-of-file transition. YouTube Studio supplies the live connection workflow; it does not provide a universal loop control for every encoder.
Can I leave YouTube Studio open and have it repeat a video by itself?
The repeat behavior must be configured in the playback or encoder workflow. Studio is used to create and monitor the live stream, not as a universal prerecorded-video looping player.
